I'm so glad she is exploring historical sites even more. I've found some interesting facts to devour on this place. Built about five kms apart, in the cliffs above the Yeşildere stream, the Manazan Cave City and the Town of Taşkale are two related and yet very different sites. Both are essentially famous for their unique rock-cut chambers, set into the cliffs of soft, porous stone, however, while Manazan is a city of grand halls, chimneys, winding passages, and churches, Taşkale is known for its hundreds of tiny chambers cut into the cliff above the village. One of these small chambers opens into another passageway and on into another set of halls known as the “Burial Square” and the “Castle of Sand”. Very little is known for sure about the Manazan cave settlement. When a cave is expanded, traces of the old are chipped away and lost making it difficult to know how long these caves have been used for. It is thought that early Christians settled in this remote and sheltered place to escape the persecution of the Romans. Christianity spread quickly and early in the area with the cities of Derbe, Lystra, and Iconium (modern Konya), being nearby cities visited by St Paul and his companions. When Christianity was legalized and eventually adopted as the state religion the need for secrecy and protection stopped, making the caves at Manazan less important. However, with the beginning of Arab raiders in the area and later with the arrival of the Muslim Turks, Christians once again took refuge in cave settlements like Manazan.

Plus I wouldn’t have been brave enough to enter those dark rooms or climbed wobbly ladders and would have missed so much! Thank you for being so adventurous and brave!!
One can see how & why the Turkish people are so proud of their country. The history of Turkey is remarkable & to see how resilient the people were to carve a large town out of the hillsides when under seige & occupation by the Romans is absolutely fascinating. Thank-you Noraly Itchy Boots for taking us on this journey with you. P.S. Try some Aussie"Dubbin" on those "Squeeky Boots"!
@peterwhite7252 . Noraly said in the video that the cave/homes she was looking through were built by the Turks escaping from the Romans. Her interpreter also told her that those cave/homes were built on top of earlier cave/homes that dated back many thousands of years. (12?) Christianity is only 2024 years old so your assumption that Turkey was Christian is most probably incorrect. Edit: I will stand corrected in the fact that Turkey (Anatolia) was in fact a majority Christian country before the Ottomans, who themselves maintained a high rate of Christianity in the amalgamated States of Anatolia until the later stages of the Ottoman control. 🥴😬.
@@peterwhite7252 There are 45 countries today that broke away from the Ottoman Empire!!! none of them speak Turkish or were forced to convert to Islam! they have lived their own language and religion for centuries, why should people flee? we are not like Spain or England, we don't sell religion and steal their wealth in 200 years

The places in the region are the driest places in Turkey. At the same time, autumn is about to end. In other words, it is the worst time. In other words, if you see the regions after May and other provinces, you will like it more.
A Dutch speaking breakfast spot in Turkey - nice! That archeological site is indeed fascinating. Thank you for showing us that. I wasn't aware of people building (and burying) like that. Woah -wow - the manmade pool on the crater. What a view! Also, interesting patches of greenery in a bare volcanic landscape. Makes me wonder why just in those spots. Holy wow - your explorations just kept getting better all day. That cave dwelling - wah! Absolutely massive. 😮 Oh, for a head lamp, eh?

What an interesting day! Absolutely fascinating to see the village built in 7000BC and its history. The pool in the volcano was unexpected. Your lungs and Frankie’s lungs were getting a workout today. Ladder climbing in the dark is quite scary but your excitement was so good to see. It’s so interesting to see how the rooms were carved out and all the tunnel work. So glad you were able to find someone to tell you about the place. Such sweet people you meet!
Loving this journey through Turkey...geology, history, scenery. I'm also loving the purr of Frankie's engine at city intersections and off road sections.

Manazan Mağaraları - Karaman Manazan Mağaraları Yeşildere (İbrala) Taşkale (Kızıllar) Köyleri arasında uzanan Yeşildere Vadisi'nin doğusunda, Karaman-Yeşildere Taşkale yolunun kenarındadır. Karaman’a uzaklığı 40 kilometredir.
!! Google Translación !! Manazan Caves - Karaman Manazan Caves are located on the east of Yeşildere Valley, which extends between Yeşildere (İbrala) Taşkale (Kızıllar) Villages, on the side of the Karaman-Yeşildere Taşkale road. It is 40 kilometers away from Karaman. The caves are five-story collective housing complexes carved entirely by human hands into a high rock mass in a limestone land with a high clay content. The first two floors consist of many small rooms in the form of cells in the east-west direction. It has a strategic position to control the valley from the east and west. The other floors carved into the high rock mass in the middle are called Kum Kale, At Meydanı and Ölüler Meydanı respectively in the region. Since the front facade of the caves was destroyed by natural events, there is no obvious entrance today. There are many burial chambers in the form of cavities on the first floor. It has been determined that some of the rooms lined up from east to west on this floor are chapels. There are traces of some geometric shapes and frescoes in these. The largest of the chapels is located in the eastern section. It has a barrel vault and the southern facade on the slope was destroyed by natural events. Although there is no data to determine exactly when the caves were carved, it is understood from the small findings obtained here that the caves were carved and settled in the 6th and 7th centuries during the Byzantine Period. It is estimated that the caves were carved and used both for safety and because of the clayey limestone's ability to maintain heat and humidity.
When you think the viewers might not be able to appreciate the vastness of where you are traveling and the unusual place you find on the mountain top - launch the drone. Nothing lets the average viewer appreciate where you are then a high altitude video from a drone. Simply amazing the terrain you conquer. Thank You!

You are universally admired Noraly. And why not … absolutely amazing job you are doing while making these vlogs. The drone soars majestically over the Turkish countryside and one can visualise the landscape from far above. This is pure cinematographic art with perfectly matched music in the background. Amount of work that goes behind making of each vlog is unbelievable. Unimaginable by many of us. Love it. Carry on Noraly, its really mesmerising 👍

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your nice comment. Yes, unfortunately, the media publishes such negativity, it is very sad. We are all human, we have good and bad people, but the good ones are always in the majority.
I'm loving Turkey so much. The tunnels, the little girls saying I LOVE YOU, the friendly folks, delicious food.. Season 8 rocks already. 🤗♥️🎉👍✨🏆

@@libbyvalley i agree to that, these kind of places in türkiye aren`t that much researched by tourists
You're braver than I am exploring those tunnels. I half expected to find skeletons of those who never found their way back out 😮
Turkey continues to amaze and teach with its long history. Thank you so much for taking the roads we’ll never have a chance to travel. Plus I wouldn’t have been brave enough to enter those dark rooms or climbed wobbly ladders and would have missed so much! Thank you for being so adventurous and brave!!
There’s a unique treasure in every region of Turkey. An incredible culture. Season 8 couldn’t have started from a better place.
It was a Christian country. Was taken over with the Otomon Empire. I think that thoughs caves would have been from Christians escaping persacution.
@peterwhite7252 . Noraly said in the video that the cave/homes she was looking through were built by the Turks escaping from the Romans. Her interpreter also told her that those cave/homes were built on top of earlier cave/homes that dated back many thousands of years. (12?)
Christianity is only 2024 years old so your assumption that Turkey was Christian is most probably incorrect.
Edit: I will stand corrected in the fact that Turkey (Anatolia) was in fact a majority Christian country before the Ottomans, who themselves maintained a high rate of Christianity in the amalgamated States of Anatolia until the later stages of the Ottoman control. 🥴😬.
@@peterwhite7252 There are 45 countries today that broke away from the Ottoman Empire!!! none of them speak Turkish or were forced to convert to Islam! they have lived their own language and religion for centuries, why should people flee? we are not like Spain or England, we don't sell religion and steal their wealth in 200 years
@@peterwhite7252 it was not christian at the time of the construction of these structures
Roman occupation? Turkey came into existence in 1923, man, as a result of the Ottoman Empire's collapse after its defeat in World War I. The Ottoman Empire had previously conquered the lands of the Roman Empire and Byzantium, renaming Constantinople to Istanbul! - study history ((((

Thanks Noraly for another wonderful sightseeing and ride and a love tap to Frankie for doing so well ❤
You go, intrepid woman. Turkey is a beautiful, welcoming country. Traveled there as a single woman in the 80s but I’m not sure I would have been brave enough to climb that second set of ladders. You and your vids are the best! Safe travels!

Hello Noralily, it is very nice to see the world through your eyes. Catalhoyuk was known as the oldest settlement in the world, dating back 7000 years. An older place was found, Gobeklitepe in Sanliurfa, and it was dated as 12000 years old.

Manazan Mağaraları - Karaman
Manazan Mağaraları Yeşildere (İbrala) Taşkale (Kızıllar) Köyleri arasında uzanan Yeşildere Vadisi'nin doğusunda, Karaman-Yeşildere Taşkale yolunun kenarındadır. Karaman’a uzaklığı 40 kilometredir.
Thank you 🙏
!! Google Translación !! Manazan Caves - Karaman
Manazan Caves are located on the east of Yeşildere Valley, which extends between Yeşildere (İbrala) Taşkale (Kızıllar) Villages, on the side of the Karaman-Yeşildere Taşkale road.
Thank You so much for the explanation 🙏🏻
Teşekkürler - Thanks very much indeed for the info!

Noraly you are officially the bravest girl a lot of us have ever seen. That caves bit was absolutely fascinating. Thank you a thousand times over, for everything but mostly for being you.
One of the earliest paintings of a volcanic eruption was found at Catalhoyuk and is thought to depict the eruption of Hasan Dag volcano 8,970 years ago! Perhaps the Roman pool was built to take advantage of the geothermal energy at the volcaano’s summit?
That was my thoughts too. Circular pool was warm and the smaller rectangular one was cold maybe, or vice versa.
Yes, I wondered if there was a hot spring long ago.
Orada Roma askerleri için bir kale vardı ve su ihtiyacını karşılamak için oraya bir havuz yaptılar. Kar ve yağmur suları o havuzda toplanıyordu.
You are a big inspiration to me and others to get out and discover our world
