But i think this reaction might have come from him not mentioning her at all for months. So it kind of build up this excitement for everyone. But yeah, it should def be normalised that he can talk about her without people freaking out
And really it’s not even accepting... it’s just respecting. You respected her decision and therefore accept the choice she made. And that’s absolutely all she’s asking for is her decision to be respected that she’s no longer putting herself out here on the internet. I wish Julien could talk about her too, she’s his girlfriend, life partner. It makes me sad that he can’t just normally or casually bring her up, as we all know how happy they make each other. But sadly so many people don’t accept it and that’s pretty messed up. We have to be okay with it because it’s not our life to make that decision for. I wish them nothing but all the wonderful things and I’d love to see her make a come back some day. But if she doesn’t, then it’s her choice not to. It’s like people think Jenna’s an actual friend of theirs. I mean, yeah sure, in a way she kinda is the friend we’ve all wanted. But the fact of the matter is we don’t know her. And we probably never will, so we should be ok with not constantly wanting to know how she is or what she’s doing. She’s literally a normal human being who needs space and needs to make her own decisions.

Man, I feel like Jenna's probably experiencing the healthiest time of her life right now. It must be so freeing to just live life without the ties to online relationships and obligations. One of my friends just permanently deleted all her social media accounts and she says it's the best thing she's every done.

@@EthanfromEngland- Jenna's content made many of her fans feel like they were hanging out in their friend's living room every Wednesday/Thursday. Having her leave can really feel like losing a friend. I get that is odd to someone who wasn't impacted by her content. She has every right to live her life as she pleases. Ideally Jenna could have been more open about her struggles and could have felt comfortable changing her schedule or content to fit the life changes she felt she needed. I think Jenna genuinely had fun making the videos she made. You cannot fake the joy she displayed in so much of her content. In a perfect world Jenna would make videos when she wanted to, we could all catch up with her and the dogs from time to time and she could still find the peace she was seeking. I still hope she comes back eventually but I'm not holding my breath and i wish her and Julien the best.
When he mentions jenna I just smile, just mentioning her name gives me a sense of security that she's okay, I want him talking about her to be normalized.

Honestly I’ve been saying this this whole time. Jenna is still a person, she’s still a human being and julien lives with her so obviously he’s going to mention her once in awhile. It shouldn’t be such a shocker when her name is brought up, she’s still living life just offline which is totally okay. Great message julien, people should normalize you bringing her up, and they should normalize respecting the space and time that people need to heal.

As someone who doesn’t watch the streams, I think the last video was the first time I’ve heard him say her name in months. It makes sense, but I think that is what made it so surprising for a lot of people as he’s been so good, almost... sus...🤨, at keeping her privacy intact.

I think he’s struggling with the fact that his success was a result of hers, and now that she’s offline people continue to make a bigger deal about her. I also think it should stop because it might be making Jenna uncomfortable.

Yeah I always feel so bad when Julien mentions Jenna and everyone comments about it. Or with anything he does all the comments are about missing Jenna. I miss her too but let’s appreciate Julien for the amazing person he is! I’ve been worried for a while how all of the “TELL JENNA WE LOVE AND MISS HER!” comments might be making Julien feel. I get that everyone loves and misses her - I do too! - but at the same time, Julien is a wonderful creator himself and he doesn’t owe us anything. He never asked to become Jenna’s social media spokesperson when she stepped away and it’s got to be hard having everyone put all of this pressure on him. So basically, Julien, thank you for how patient you’ve been with everyone, and I really hope you’re remembering to take the time to look after yourself. ❤️
It should be normalized in the first place. Julien is his own person and just mentioning his girlfriend should not make people freak out and disregard what he is doing. He should be allowed to talk about her and post pics of her without fans losing their minds. If you can’t contain yourself at just the mention of Jenna’s name you need to figure out how to or leave Julien be.

And Jennas videos were a big part of a lot of peoples lives. Change this big is never easy in any situation. And yes all the people who stop listening to what he's saying and are just freaking out about Jannas name being mentioned are being a little dramatic. But there are those of us who do listen to him. Personally, my heart jumps every time he says her name now. That isn't something you can control or change. It is something that happens psychologically and subconsciously. It's the same as a close friend moving away and you have no contact with them. Or a break up (relationship or friendship). It's losing a person you saw once a week for years in a matter of minutes. Of course I'm being a little dramatic but it's very similar. People, myself included, feel a connection to her and her content. We grew up with her. Now, again, I'm not saying that we're all gonna be like this forever. I'm just gonna say it's gonna take time.

Spot on. He has been so gracious and patient with people and he definitely doesn't have to be. I'm just here for great content. His cooking content literally was a sanity saver when I suddenly had new diet changes. Woo-hoo gluten free and vegan in one fell swoop. He's inspired me to stop being so sad about my health and to just try things without fear of messing up. Hell of a dude too. The community he has created is wholesome and friendly.

The way she left was sudden and unexpected. We were involved in her life and then suddenly she cut us off. We respect her decision... but can’t shake the strange feeling when you mention her. Jenna did not do this to her fans. Her leaving the internet was not an act against any of us. She had to do what she had to be healthy. I completely get what he's saying. Normally as soon as Julien mentions Jenna a lot of people immediately jump into that "omgomgomg" mindset. Like guys, come on. We've all grown and watched Jenna and Julien over the years. Let's not make them uncomfortable. They're both happy and thriving so it shouldn't come as a shock or a surprise when Jenna's name is mentioned.
It’s extra aggravating bc I feel like the best way to normalize it IS for him to bring her up in conversation, like you would if you were catching up with friends weekly or so but without all the hoopla because obviously that’s not how your friends would react to you bringing up your long term partner in normal conversation. The more rare it is, the more of a reaction people are gonna have unfortunately. But he also shouldn’t be expected to talk about her all the time or on demand because that’s not what we’re here for in the first place and it would disrespect her wishes. There’s a happy medium we gotta reach, and the audience needs to c h i l l ab it so we can get to that point. He shouldn’t have to tough it out dealing with the madness around it for now just to get to that point where he can bring up funny anecdotes or stories that include her instead of hiding a part of himself online. I'm glad he spoke up for himself. I don't watch twitch often but I like to catch some of his stream when I do. Julien raided a smaller streamer and the chat used it as an opportunity to talk about how they miss Jenna and want her back online. It felt awful to be around, like it was behind his back and put the streamer in an awkward position. Julien and Jenna are people, and should be respected face to face or behind curtains. Also, Julien is super talented and if part of his following doesn't see that than its a real loss for them.
We all just miss her. She was a huge part of my life for so long. I looked up to her and waited and watched her videos every week and it's like losing someone I felt close to. I'm glad she is doing good and understand where you are coming from. I cannot speak for others but it's just good to hear about her every once in a while

I'm not a BTS stan, but I still remember back when the HP films were coming out the fandom was very shitty towards Bonnie Wright cause they didn't like her character, to Dan's then girlfriend cause they didn't find her "pretty enough" and claimed "he deserved better" and they wanted him to date Emma, and to other members of the cast for equally dumb reasons. The Sherlock fandom sent actual death threats to Martin Freeman's wife (whose name i can't remember sorry) cause, according to their head canon, he should be with Benedict Cumberbatch both in the series and in real life. To the point Martin had to talk about it and basically ask them to stop being crazy. Hell, the Beatles' fans were openly agressive towards Patty Boyd and the other girlfriends the boys had. Fanatics become so emotionally involved with the people they admire they become entitled and self-centered to the point of delusion. sadly, this happens within the dink fam as well. i've seen comments on Julien's videos begging him to please get Jenna on camera without her noticing so they can have their "Jenna Marbles dose", as if she was some character and her boundaries shouldn't be respected. even on this video you can see someone saying I MISS HER SORRY NOT SORRY when he's being vulnerable and opening up about a sensitive issue for him. people suck.
I think folks just feel like Jenna was a taboo subject. And that he was avoiding talking about her to be respectful. So it’s shocking to hear him talk about her. I understand the reaction, but totally agree that it should be normalized. It’s been months and it’s okay to start to view Julien talking about Jenna as just normal.
That is a much more concise way of saying what I said in my comment lol yes, exactly. There’s going to be an awkward transition time but I think the more he just casually mentions her the more people will get used to it and the vibe and not react as strongly.
I think the more Julien brings her up in a casual light, the more he says her name and then goes back to playing a video game the more people will get used to it. The chat would be inundated with mentions of her, which I get that dinks would be excited. Right now mentioning Jenna or hearing about her is kind of like hearing about an illusive family member that you got along with as a kid and you vibe with them and they were your fav ever but they moved away, and every time your uncles or your mom mentions that side of the family you get excited because “Oh! I hope they’re doing okay!!” When all your mom said was “[cousins mom] said they saw snow for the first time.” Shout out to Julien, tho. He’s gotta deal with that on a large scale, I literally can’t imagine how frustrating that is. Patience of a literal saint. I know fans can be a lot sometimes but thanks for being willing to stream for us even though in the beginning it was frustrating and tense sometimes. this exactly. not to blame Julien at all (I adore him, I've been subbed to him for nearly 7 years now and love him for who he is, not who he's in a relationship with), but of course people are going to lose their minds at any mention of Jenna when her name is brought up vaguely maybe once per month. totally respecting their privacy and all but more frequent casual mentions of her (not to talk ABOUT her and revolve everything around her, but just like... 'Jenna and I watched this movie/played this game' or whatever) would really help if he doesn't want people to get excited at any tiny mention of her name. especially since I'm in a time zone where I don't get to watch the streams so I don't get to hear the same updates or messages that everyone else does apart from when snippets are posted on this channel - yeah of course I'm gonna be hyped at any mention of her (even though I know she's not coming back) because I miss one of my favourite people who I've been following for more than half of my life, and making people feel guilty or like they're overstepping for being happy to hear her name like once a month doesn't really feel good.

If her fans miss her so much, they can watch her old videos. I can understand if he finds it disrespectful, however I can't speak for him. Jenna used to be a huge part of our lives...and I know you understand that but it’s also really hard. Half of us still rewatch her videos every day my guy and it’s so hard we miss her so much.
Honestly, she was a part of so many people's lives and expecting us not to react to her is kinda off putting. Like, we love her and wish her the best and we are so happy about hearing she's doing good even though we miss her so much. I'm not talking about the people that are creepy about it, but about the people who get excited because they miss her.

Since "normalizing Jenna's absence from the internet" also comes in hand with people being respectful of Julien's and Jenna's boundaries, and NOT flooding Julien's videos with comments about Jenna everytime there is the tiniest sign of her presence in his videos. They live together, Jenna is doing great and enjoying her new way of living, people should come to terms with that, and respect that. Also, this is Julien's channel, and Julien is his own person, he is more than "Jenna's boyfriend." I think people are still grieving a little and you're their only avenue of information about Jenna that they have; she had the gift of making people feel like they knew her even though obviously that's ridiculous and we saw her literally through a lens. I think there continues to be a lot of sadness around it because of the way being a TH-camr ended for her. She is such a positive light for her viewers, so having it end on a negative and abrupt note was devastating, and makes many of us really concerned for her. Also being 100% honest, I haven’t watched a ton of videos so I’m not an expert, but you seem a lot more serious, almost somber in your more recent content whereas in her videos you were always laughing and goofy. I think that plus her never being seen anymore makes it harder to believe all is well for you guys. Obviously you both do not owe us any info beyond what you are comfortable with, but I know that watching Jenna’s videos every week made me really care about your little family, and I hope everyone is okay. 💞

totally agree. i've definitely been guilty of leaving some comments that could be interpreted as guilt-tripping and just honestly repetitive and annoying in the past. i'm here for julien and am grateful he is still posting! he always makes me smile (and the doggies lol)
Let's be honest though, the concern for Jenna's well being is pretty valid. I'm not trying to defend being creepy, but Jenna gave up, in the blink of an eye, a hugely public facing and well paying career with an audience of literal millions for an issue that most people didn't even see or believe was that big of a deal, especially compared to other legitimately awful people still raking in money in this platform. And then essentially isolates herself from literally everything. Like, that is a MASSIVE, hugely impactful life change that very few people will ever make, and also has a lot of signs of things like severe depression and anxiety. People are correct to be concerned for Jenna's mental health and well being, especially when we get basically no news of her at all for months and months. Again, Julien is his own person and should be able to talk about his life with Jenna without things getting creepy and uncomfortable, but the situation with Jenna is pretty extreme in a lot of ways.
I feel so incredibly guilty for wanting Jenna back and announcements like this make it so hard. I love Julien and I miss Jenna terribly, but I do wish them happiness and I respect Jenna’s decision. I’m not one of those fans that demand updates and make a big deal out of scraps of her personal life. But I’m so conflicted about how to feel. I want Jenna back more than anything, but not at the expense of her mental health. I hope that makes sense.
I'd like to normalise it too, but i do sense a lack of closure. She's a person, she *should* make decisions that better her life. However she was also a major part of youtube and also a positive part of a lot of lives (she made me really care about training my dog and collecting houseplants lol) so the one video somewhat announcing her departure and the months of silence... i totally agree it’s her decision and she doesn’t owe anyone anything, but yeah, it kinda sucks and it weirdly feels like we’re grieving her? and like she’s alive and well and happy and that’s like the most important part obviously, but i think for fans who have followed her for years yeah it’s def an adjustment. i still get sad every now and again that i most likely won’t see a video from her ever again, but that, again, is her decision. it’s just one of those small sad things that no one can really control. i just hope (and from what julien is saying it does seem to be this way, thankfully) jenna is happy and content. she has four great dogs and a wonderful boyfriend, and i wish her the best in the rest of her life. doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck just a little 😅

Jenna’s goodbye to youtube was intensely emotional - I couldn’t even finish watching it, I was devastated because I’ve watched her for years and the podcast has kept me company through a lot of difficult things. But mostly I was crushed that she was suffering. I think a lot of people felt the same way. What happened after is that you barely mentioned her and she is never seen in the background. It’s almost like she died. It keeps a certain tension up between your world and the youtube world. If this cold turkey approach was necessary for her recovery, that’s valid. But my guess is that to a lot of people who got spoiled for over 10 years with her huge dedication to putting out content to a growing base of faithful fans, it’s hard to grasp and will take much longer than this to come to terms with. Be patient.

I totally get where he's coming from, and hope people take it seriously, but I also think it's because he hasn't really mentioned Jenna pretty much at all since she left. And so as fans, we were just waiting for any sort of update since she abruptly left the online space 6 months ago. I really doubt people will continue all those comments as time goes on, because I think we were all just excited to hear literally anything when he mentioned her for the first time since this happened in his other video. I'm sure all of Jenna and Julien's true fans would love to normalize him being able to talk about her in his videos and such because they do live together and it's a little weird to pretend she doesn't exist (given that they were both generally pretty open with including their family/friends on their channels in the past).
This makes sense. I think a lot of people are still dealing with the loss and they don't think about their words. For some, it's like grieving for a friend you'll never see again.

Must be weird for Julien and Jenna to fathom how much people miss someone they've never met. This is my feeling too. Jenna was one of the only reasons I watched TH-cam. I followed her since the beginning and I would log on religiously every week to watch her. So while I understand she wanted this, it is hard when someone/something that was a part of your routine for 10 years is gone. I know we weren’t her friends but it feels like I lost a friend. I think if he did talk about her, even if it was silly like “Jenna put this hat on Kermit and it was cute” would make it easier. I don’t expect him to tell us the deep details about their lives but just hearing some stuff that shows us she’s doing good, would really help remove some of this aggression people have.
I've loved Jenna for over a decade. She's gotten me through some hard shit. But I realized that the thing I love about her the most right now is that she led us to you. I'm thankful for your content. I'm sorry but some of us grew up with Jenna. She was literally a part of my weekly routine for yearsss and yearsss. To be honest her leaving TH-cam was devastating because we didn't see it coming. I'm still not over it. It came out of nowhere and we had no time to prepare or no time to say goodbye. I'm not saying Jenna owes us anything. She doesn't at all. But every time I hear her name I get so excited. I hope you and her are doing good. But you gotta realize ... a lot of us are here because of her and we're used to seeing/hearing her voice every single week for 8-9 years. It's going to take more time than this for us to get over it. It was legit devastating and heartbreaking. She was/is one of the most genuine people we had in our lives. So it's hard.

I want to hear about her because I feel she's an older sister. It warms and breaks my heart but hearing she's doing good calms my anxiety just like watching her videos. I want her to heal in peace but I selfishly want to know she's progressing forward, too. She helped me through a lot and I feel bad knowing I can't help her back.
I have loved seeing him evolve and grow in his craft. Absolutely mind-blowing! Literally both of them helped me through a terrible breakup, helped me laugh even when I was bed bound and sad... I just wish they, especially Julien knew.
It's definitely understandable why the public has such a reaction whenever Julien mentions her. She was a massive youtuber and she had a large following and background and for her to become absent online was quite devestating for individuals who followed her and looked forward to her videos. However, Julien is not Jenna. If Julien didn't have a twitch channel or youtube channel or an online following in general, this wouldn't be happening and everyone would just continue on respecting Jenna and her privacy. It's evident that Julien is the closest thing to Jenna that we will get right now and maybe for a while, but Julien is not a tunnel that connects us as fans to Jenna and her life. She is a person and she left for a reason and we all need to respect her and Julien who has been struggling with creating content during her absence. Julien has 2 youtube channels, streams on twitch every day, has 2 twitters and is pumping out content left and right. He is his OWN youtuber and his OWN person. He is not a Jenna fill in. He is her partner but he isn't responsible to appease Jenna's following just because he is close to her. We all need to respect them as a family and give Jenna her privacy and Julien support. He makes incredible content by himself. I love the iggy fam and the dink fam but they are not required to be sharing their lives with us, what we get is more than enough. I love them both and let's try to move on and support Julien and his socials as much as possible

I feel like the nature of her sign-off fuels this fire really. Especially with them not giving any sort of clear answer to what was going on/the future when everything first happened. I am not saying they should give us a clear answer btw. I think Julien gave Jenna well-deserved space from the public eye by not answering those kind of questions, but to us as viewers it came across as all things Jenna is forbidden now. Like, I am not the only one that got that vibe, right? That's where this strong reaction from her being mentioned comes from because it felt like Julien was discouraging talking about her there for awhile (again nothing wrong with that, it just feels funny now to hear him be surprised people are reacting like they have). I think if Julien keeps mentioning her, the shock and awe of it will die down. Having her leave can really feel like losing a friend. I get that is odd to someone who wasn't impacted by her content. She has every right to live her life as she pleases. Ideally Jenna could have been more open about her struggles and could have felt comfortable changing her schedule or content to fit the life changes she felt she needed. I think Jenna genuinely had fun making the videos she made. You cannot fake the joy she displayed in so much of her content. In a perfect world Jenna would make videos when she wanted to, we could all catch up with her and the dogs from time to time and she could still find the peace she was seeking. I still hope she comes back eventually but I'm not holding my breath and i wish her and Julien the best.

And Jennas videos were a big part of a lot of peoples lives. Change this big is never easy in any situation. And yes all the people who stop listening to what he's saying and are just freaking out about Jannas name being mentioned are being a little dramatic. But there are those of us who do listen to him. Personally, my heart jumps every time he says her name now. That isn't something you can control or change. It is something that happens psychologically and subconsciously. It's the same as a close friend moving away and you have no contact with them. Or a break up (relationship or friendship). It's losing a person you saw once a week for years in a matter of minutes. Of course I'm being a little dramatic but it's very similar. People, myself included, feel a connection to her and her content. We grew up with her. The way she left was sudden and unexpected. We were involved in her life and then suddenly she cut us off. We respect her decision... but can’t shake the strange feeling when you mention her. Like a friend that doesn’t want to see you anymore. I can’t imagine how difficult it’s been for you because this is your whole life. I say just keep mentioning her and eventually it will be normal.

I completely get what he's saying. Normally as soon as Julien mentions Jenna a lot of people immediately jump into that "omgomgomg" mindset. Like guys, come on. We've all grown and watched Jenna and Julien over the years. Let's not make them uncomfortable. They're both happy and thriving so it shouldn't come as a shock or a surprise when Jenna's name is mentioned.

It’s extra aggravating bc I feel like the best way to normalize it IS for him to bring her up in conversation, like you would if you were catching up with friends weekly or so but without all the hoopla because obviously that’s not how your friends would react to you bringing up your long term partner in normal conversation. The more rare it is, the more of a reaction people are gonna have unfortunately. But he also shouldn’t be expected to talk about her all the time or on demand because that’s not what we’re here for in the first place and it would disrespect her wishes. There’s a happy medium we gotta reach, and the audience needs to c h i l l ab it so we can get to that point. He shouldn’t have to tough it out dealing with the madness around it for now just to get to that point where he can bring up funny anecdotes or stories that include her instead of hiding a part of himself online. I feel for him, I hope making an announcement about it helps.

I'm glad he spoke up for himself. I don't watch twitch often but I like to catch some of his stream when I do. Julien raided a smaller streamer and the chat used it as an opportunity to talk about how they miss Jenna and want her back online. It felt awful to be around, like it was behind his back and put the streamer in an awkward position. Julien and Jenna are people, and should be respected face to face or behind curtains. Also, Julien is super talented and if part of his following doesn't see that than its a real loss for them.

We all just miss her. She was a huge part of my life for so long. I looked up to her and waited and watched her videos every week and it's like losing someone I felt close to. sadly, this happens within the dink fam as well. i've seen comments on Julien's videos begging him to please get Jenna on camera without her noticing so they can have their "Jenna Marbles dose", as if she was some character and her boundaries shouldn't be respected. even on this video you can see someone saying I MISS HER SORRY NOT SORRY when he's being vulnerable and opening up about a sensitive issue for him. people suck.
I think folks just feel like Jenna was a taboo subject. And that he was avoiding talking about her to be respectful. So it’s shocking to hear him talk about her. I understand the reaction, but totally agree that it should be normalized. It’s been months and it’s okay to start to view Julien talking about Jenna as just normal.

I think the more Julien brings her up in a casual light, the more he says her name and then goes back to playing a video game the more people will get used to it. The chat would be inundated with mentions of her, which I get that dinks would be excited. Right now mentioning Jenna or hearing about her is kind of like hearing about an illusive family member that you got along with as a kid and you vibe with them and they were your fav ever but they moved away, and every time your uncles or your mom mentions that side of the family you get excited because “Oh! I hope they’re doing okay!!” When all your mom said was “[cousins mom] said they saw snow for the first time.”
Shout out to Julien, tho. He’s gotta deal with that on a large scale, I literally can’t imagine how frustrating that is. Patience of a literal saint. this exactly. not to blame Julien at all (I adore him, I've been subbed to him for nearly 7 years now and love him for who he is, not who he's in a relationship with), but of course people are going to lose their minds at any mention of Jenna when her name is brought up vaguely maybe once per month. totally respecting their privacy and all but more frequent casual mentions of her (not to talk ABOUT her and revolve everything around her, but just like... 'Jenna and I watched this movie/played this game' or whatever) would really help if he doesn't want people to get excited at any tiny mention of her name. especially since I'm in a time zone where I don't get to watch the streams so I don't get to hear the same updates or messages that everyone else does apart from when snippets are posted on this channel - yeah of course I'm gonna be hyped at any mention of her (even though I know she's not coming back) because I miss one of my favourite people who I've been following for more than half of my life, and making people feel guilty or like they're overstepping for being happy to hear her name like once a month doesn't really feel good.

Honestly, she was a part of so many people's lives and expecting us not to react to her is kinda off putting. Since "normalizing Jenna's absence from the internet" also comes in hand with people being respectful of Julien's and Jenna's boundaries, and NOT flooding Julien's videos with comments about Jenna everytime there is the tiniest sign of her presence in his videos. They live together, Jenna is doing great and enjoying her new way of living, people should come to terms with that, and respect that. Also, this is Julien's channel, and Julien is his own person, he is more than "Jenna's boyfriend." People should just try to be respectful of their boundaries, I've been trying to say this for the longest time but a lot of people still don't listen, which is disappointing.

I think there continues to be a lot of sadness around it because of the way being a TH-camr ended for her. She is such a positive light for her viewers, so having it end on a negative and abrupt note was devastating, and makes many of us really concerned for her.
Also being 100% honest, I haven’t watched a ton of videos so I’m not an expert, but you seem a lot more serious, almost somber in your more recent content whereas in her videos you were always laughing and goofy. I think that plus her never being seen anymore makes it harder to believe all is well for you guys.

totally agree. i've definitely been guilty of leaving some comments that could be interpreted as guilt-tripping and just honestly repetitive and annoying in the past. i'm here for julien and am grateful he is still posting! he always makes me smile (and the doggies lol)
Let's be honest though, the concern for Jenna's well being is pretty valid. I'm not trying to defend being creepy, but Jenna gave up, in the blink of an eye, a hugely public facing and well paying career with an audience of literal millions for an issue that most people didn't even see or believe was that big of a deal, especially compared to other legitimately awful people still raking in money in this platform. And then essentially isolates herself from literally everything. Like, that is a MASSIVE, hugely impactful life change that very few people will ever make, and also has a lot of signs of things like severe depression and anxiety. People are correct to be concerned for Jenna's mental health and well being, especially when we get basically no news of her at all for months and months. Again, Julien is his own person and should be able to talk about his life with Jenna without things getting creepy and uncomfortable, but the situation with Jenna is pretty extreme in a lot of ways.

I feel so incredibly guilty for wanting Jenna back and announcements like this make it so hard.
I love Julien and I miss Jenna terribly, but I do wish them happiness and I respect Jenna’s decision. I’m not one of those fans that demand updates and make a big deal out of scraps of her personal life.
But I’m so conflicted about how to feel. I want Jenna back more than anything, but not at the expense of her mental health. I hope that makes sense.
I'd like to normalise it too, but i do sense a lack of closure. She's a person, she *should* make decisions that better her life. However she was also a major part of youtube and also a positive part of a lot of lives (she made me really care about training my dog and collecting houseplants lol) so the one video somewhat announcing her departure and the months of silence... She doesn't owe anyone anything, but I can understand the desperation from fans to heart about her. Honestly even a 5 min "Hey guys, I'm gone for good, it was fun, I hope you're well!" might help bring a close to things.

i totally agree it’s her decision and she doesn’t owe anyone anything, but yeah, it kinda sucks and it weirdly feels like we’re grieving her? and like she’s alive and well and happy and that’s like the most important part obviously, but i think for fans who have followed her for years yeah it’s def an adjustment. i still get sad every now and again that i most likely won’t see a video from her ever again, but that, again, is her decision. it’s just one of those small sad things that no one can really control. i just hope (and from what julien is saying it does seem to be this way, thankfully) jenna is happy and content. she has four great dogs and a wonderful boyfriend, and i wish her the best in the rest of her life.

Jenna’s goodbye to youtube was intensely emotional - I couldn’t even finish watching it, I was devastated because I’ve watched her for years and the podcast has kept me company through a lot of difficult things. But mostly I was crushed that she was suffering. I think a lot of people felt the same way. What happened after is that you barely mentioned her and she is never seen in the background. It’s almost like she died. It keeps a certain tension up between your world and the youtube world.
If this cold turkey approach was necessary for her recovery, that’s valid. But my guess is that to a lot of people who got spoiled for over 10 years with her huge dedication to putting out content to a growing base of faithful fans, it’s hard to grasp and will take much longer than this to come to terms with. Be patient.

I totally get where he's coming from, and hope people take it seriously, but I also think it's because he hasn't really mentioned Jenna pretty much at all since she left. And so as fans, we were just waiting for any sort of update since she abruptly left the online space 6 months ago. I really doubt people will continue all those comments as time goes on, because I think we were all just excited to hear literally anything when he mentioned her for the first time since this happened in his other video.
I'm sure all of Jenna and Julien's true fans would love to normalize him being able to talk about her in his videos and such because they do live together and it's a little weird to pretend she doesn't exist (given that they were both generally pretty open with including their family/friends on their channels in the past).

This is a good boundary to set, but i do understand the reactions. There's so many people out there, who were constantly keeping up with her, who heard from her every wednesday/thursday for years (more consistently than a lot of people hear from even their families) and it makes perfect sense that after dealing with that ending so out of the blue, people are looking for even the slightest sign that she's ok and more importantly still out there doing her thing and being happy. This is my feeling too. Jenna was one of the only reasons I watched TH-cam. I followed her since the beginning and I would log on religiously every week to watch her. So while I understand she wanted this, it is hard when someone/something that was a part of your routine for 10 years is gone. I know we weren’t her friends but it feels like I lost a friend. I think if he did talk about her, even if it was silly like “Jenna put this hat on Kermit and it was cute” would make it easier. I don’t expect him to tell us the deep details about their lives but just hearing some stuff that shows us she’s doing good, would really help remove some of this aggression people have.
I've loved Jenna for over a decade. She's gotten me through some hard shit. But I realized that the thing I love about her the most right now is that she led us to you. I'm thankful for your content. You'll never even know who I am, but I'll always be cheering you both on. She is so loved and missed, but I truly cherish the time that you spend creating the things that make you happy. I'm sorry but some of us grew up with Jenna. She was literally a part of my weekly routine for yearsss and yearsss. To be honest her leaving TH-cam was devastating because we didn't see it coming. I'm still not over it. It came out of nowhere and we had no time to prepare or no time to say goodbye. I'm not saying Jenna owes us anything. She doesn't at all. But every time I hear her name I get so excited. I hope you and her are doing good. But you gotta realize ... a lot of us are here because of her and we're used to seeing/hearing her voice every single week for 8-9 years. It's going to take more time than this for us to get over it. It was legit devastating and heartbreaking. She was/is one of the most genuine people we had in our lives. So it's hard.

I have loved seeing him evolve and grow in his craft. Absolutely mind-blowing! Literally both of them helped me through a terrible breakup, helped me laugh even when I was bed bound and sad... I just wish they, especially Julien knew.
It's definitely understandable why the public has such a reaction whenever Julien mentions her. She was a massive youtuber and she had a large following and background and for her to become absent online was quite devestating for individuals who followed her and looked forward to her videos. However, Julien is not Jenna. If Julien didn't have a twitch channel or youtube channel or an online following in general, this wouldn't be happening and everyone would just continue on respecting Jenna and her privacy. It's evident that Julien is the closest thing to Jenna that we will get right now and maybe for a while, but Julien is not a tunnel that connects us as fans to Jenna and her life. She is a person and she left for a reason and we all need to respect her and Julien who has been struggling with creating content during her absence. Julien has 2 youtube channels, streams on twitch every day, has 2 twitters and is pumping out content left and right. He is his OWN youtuber and his OWN person. He is not a Jenna fill in. He is her partner but he isn't responsible to appease Jenna's following just because he is close to her. We all need to respect them as a family and give Jenna her privacy and Julien support. He makes incredible content by himself. I love the iggy fam and the dink fam but they are not required to be sharing their lives with us, what we get is more than enough. I love them both and let's try to move on and support Julien and his socials as much as possible

i feel so bad, i just miss her so so much. jenna was like an internet mom to me. i know it’s out of respect and i know it’s discouraging to make a scene. i guess people just get so excited to hear about her because they miss and love her so much and love hearing about her, but i’m glad he told us how he feels so we can react accordingly, but holy shit. i just miss her so so much.

I feel like the nature of her sign-off fuels this fire really. Especially with them not giving any sort of clear answer to what was going on/the future when everything first happened. I am not saying they should give us a clear answer btw. I think Julien gave Jenna well-deserved space from the public eye by not answering those kind of questions, but to us as viewers it came across as all things Jenna is forbidden now. Like, I am not the only one that got that vibe, right? That's where this strong reaction from her being mentioned comes from because it felt like Julien was discouraging talking about her there for awhile (again nothing wrong with that, it just feels funny now to hear him be surprised people are reacting like they have). I think if Julien keeps mentioning her, the shock and awe of it will die down. It really is up to him to set the tone though, and hopefully he can not worry so much about stirring people up because that is the only way it will start to be normalized.

I definitely felt that forbidden vibe too. I never comment on his videos, but I'll admit that when he mentions Jenna I do feel excited, because it feels like maybe we can stop pretending that she doesn't exist anymore.
This is why I continue to watch Julien hes such an amazing and respectable human being being❤❤❤❤❤ people need to realize that Jenna and Julien are both there own people and while yes its excting to hear shes doing well people also need to respect her decision.
