- In the fall of 2022, Black Diamond athlete Seb Bouin made a pilgrimage to the mythical Clark Mountain to pay homage to Jumbo Love-a route he’d dreamed of for years. But sending the iconic Chris Sharma testpiece (and the world’s first 5.15b) was only the beginning of his journey. Take a trip into the heart of America’s hardest climbing and watch Seb climb the hardest route in America.

It’s a great video and the overall production value went up during the last years for sure just cause there’s so much more money in climbing. But from a videographic standpoint it’s not that much difference, just better cameras. Angles are the same as ever. Which is not a bad thing. I have to say that I disliked the editing style at some points and cause of that it doesn’t feel like a step up to me.
The beginning of the video really scared me because of the bad editing and questionable choice of music but from the middle of the vid it was actually nice
To be honest I prefere the editing of the mellow crew
Amazing that they edited (blacked) out his shoes entirely from 30 minutes of footage. You totally can't tell he was climbing in white EBs with blue straps.

@@flooo5071 He is refering to JB Tribout who came to the US in the early 90s and put Up "Just do it" on the Monkey Face in Smith Rocks, Oregon. It was the first 8c+ in the US Back then.

For anyone wondering, "aleatory" is a somewhat archaic English word for random that is a direct translation of the French word for random, "aleatoire." He was saying that using the kneepad takes less power but was way more random.

Thank you for this long not so edited footage of the climb! I've watched the Sharma footage so many times that I know the beta really well, it was interesting to see the differences. And we even got something about the last vertcal part! Monster endurance...

The fitness required to put this thing together is beyond what I thought a human being could be capable of. He's doing multiple V11s without any decent rests and somehow he just keeps going. Insane...

Spectacular climb, Seb somehow found a way to make Jumbo Love even sicker! Crazy fitness, how does he hold tension at that angle for that long? Exceptional cinematography, thanks Ben Neilson and crew for bringing us along.
I am not sure if I ever saw a video of a route with so many hard moves in follow. Thats insane!
My brain simply cannot accept the fact that climbing something like this is possible for a human being. It was the same with DNA. With bouldering I can understand that someone strong enough can do the Burden of Dreams or Return of the Sleep Walker as those are only a couple of moves, but adding this many hard moves on top of each other shouldn't ever be possible to execute without decent rest in between. Seb is a living legend! Hope to see someone try to repeat the mentioned feats of endurance and Nordic Marathon. Can't wait to hear what he has up next in his pipeline!

This is unbelievable. I've watched so many climbing video and i've never seen such a long uncut route without obnoxious editing. My first climbing magazine I ever bought had a gorgeous pic of Leavitt climbing Tusk, one of the other insane routes he put up there.
To me, the original Jumbo Love was the hardest route ever done up to this point. I know numerous routes have been given the 9b grade or higher by now, but, idk man... This route always stood out as being insane, with a super committing trek out to the wall, and the route being so long with so many hard moves. But damn, adding a direct start like that, shit. I feel like 9b+ is more than a little sandbagged haha, but who am I to say? Amazing work by Seb, and really great video by BD.
Heard rumors that sebboin felt like jumbolove was more 9A+, but didnt downgrade bc of 'politics' 😅😅 it might not be tru though
But he also said jumbo love suited his style perfectly so it might just be his thing

The route is so long, the weight of rope you're pulling up with you must get increasingly significant :0
I thought about that. Probably add about 7-9lbs at the end
On the upside, when you're resting below a clipped quick draw that same rope weight is pulling you up 25:55... Not that it will be enough to notice when you've already climbed 45 meters on an overhang. :D
This is probably the most impressive climbing I've ever watched. Like an impossible ballet. I bet mountain goats would watch this in awe. Bravo 👏🐐😁

Great movie! And the route... Oh! Just around the first clip he did about dozen of moves. And at the top, after all that work, those precise finger placements in holes and that final slab... Very intense just to watch it! I would definitely compare it to Adam's Silence, not just because it physical intensity, but also the psychical aspect of it, when one have to climb to the very top. Thumb up, Seb!

Just watched this and had the same reaction as you. I didn't even notice at first until he makes the clip and you realise he's just been so dialled in with his sequence he hasn't gone for a clip yet. Just pushing through that and not getting freaked, calmly makes the next clip, and keeps going. Definition of badass.

I heard him screaming several times. For good reason. If you give EVERYTHING you have, you have to scream, otherwise it's pretty certain you didn't give everything.
