    Simon seems like a great guy, but it’s totally ok if he’s not the guy for you. Sometimes people aren’t meant to be together long term and that’s ok! Thank you for talking about relationships online. It’s important for younger girls to realize what you see isn’t always what it seems because that’s easy to get caught up in.

    Ending a relationship is always sad, but there’s no shame! There’s no reason to be embarrassed. It’s a great thing that you guys had a good relationship and sounds like ended on non traumatic terms. You learn, you grow, you move on. Every good relationship isn’t “the one”. They make me kind of happy actually because they tell me there’s hope haha.

    I always grew up hearing that “You’re either dating to get married or you’re dating to break up.” I really appreciate you sharing how dating that ends in a break up is OK, because you learn and grow along the way. This conversation felt so healing, thanks for posting it!

  • @ashleyingrande8948
    @ashleyingrande8948 2 ปีที่แล้ว +174

    I love when people acknowledge that a relationship isn’t only successful because of its longevity! Not all relationships are going to last forever but that doesn’t mean they weren’t worth it. You learn so much through relationships and sometimes that’s just the experience we needed at that time but not long term. If more people thought like that then I think we would see a lot more peaceful breakups or people being able to remain friends or atleast civil after a relationship ends.

    • @imtaramichelle
      @imtaramichelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      this!!!! yes!!!! so much more you can gain from a relationship than "ending up together"! obviously that's the goal (for me personally), but if it doesn't get there then I gained something else from it!! TBH I think its a much better mindset to be in about them!

    there’s a lot of emotional maturity that comes along with knowing what you want and accepting that it’s times to cut ties with certain people/relationships! there’s so many toxic relationships that people hold on to because of the fear of loss and heartbreak, but like you said- you grow and learn from those experiences and it helps you shape into the person who will find your soulmate down the road!

  • @janechunggg

    i actually think it takes a lot of courage and confidence to end a relationship/accept that it’s over. a lot of ppl refuse to break up despite the red flags and incompatibilities bc they’re scared of being alone or never finding love again, etc. im proud of u tara! and thank you for sharing this part of your life with us even though u don’t have to.

    This is my favorite video you’ve ever posted, you explained it all so perfectly and kindly. I’ve suffered from immense guilt because I’ve broken up with good people, but relationships, both platonic and romantic DO come and go. Just because it’s not forever, doesn’t mean it wasn’t real or meaningful or love. Thank you for this, you are such a light and I’m so proud of you. This felt healing and validating to watch, I’m so grateful for you.

    Loved how you talk about social media and online relationships and how it’s not the whole picture! It’s so sad to think people are comparing their relationships to the tiny bits others choose to share online. No relationship is perfect. And the dating world feels harder the older you get. Thanks for being open and honest. Take the lessons you’ve learned from each relationship and onward you go :)

    I’m of course sad to hear your relationship is over because of how happy and goofy you seemed with him in the footage, but you make such great points about not idealizing what you see online and it’s really inspiring and wonderful to see how maturely and intelligently you are articulating all of this. What you’ve said about relationships often being short is something I wish I’d learned so much sooner! I really like the cliche about “a reason, a season or a lifetime.” There’s nothing wrong with the reason or season relationships, romantic or platonic! We all learn and make memories and grow as we go. We’re all just doing what we feel is best for us in each moment. And there’s nothing wrong with taking a chance and trying something out and figuring out if it’s right for you or not. You finally got to experience the “what if” that so many of us think about when it comes to people from our past, and you showed the reality of these things! It can be good, it can be great, it can be less than… it could meet your expectations or not! But you got the chance to explore the “what if,” and you took it, and it played out the way it did! I can’t imagine any reason to regret that. I admire you a ton, I think you have a really solid head on your shoulders and I’m proud to have supported your channel since your first LA apartment! I love seeing how solid your support system is, with your amazing family and friends, and as a Toronto gal myself, it’s even better getting to see my city represented online as the beautiful place it is! I love that you moved back and are living the bicoastal dream, and thank you for being who you are and teaching me so many little things along the way!

    Tara I don’t know how to say this and make the meaning really hit home but you make me feel so good about life. You make me feel like it’s totally fine to have periods of stagnancy and then major changes, and not having a relationship and to prioritize work. I feel like every person on the internet just appears to have it all together and it almost feels like that’s what happiness should be, but then I watch your videos about this and it just puts so much into perspective. This probably sounds so lame but I appreciate this video so much

    I got out of a 10 year relationship about 2 years ago.. we were engaged and he wasn’t a bad person, but over the years I realized that we both changed and were no longer compatible. I had honestly checked out of the relationship like 2-3 years before ending it but it was so hard to finally call it off after investing so much into it. Pretty shortly after I met an amazing guy who is literally everything I always in the back of my mind imagined for myself in the 2-3 years that my old relationship was rocky. We just moved in together and I could not be happier. We are on the same page, heading in the same direction in life, etc. Never settle! 💕

    Obviously breakups aren’t great, but it’s nice to know you were able to have a not so messy ending to a relationship/ know when to part ways. It’s so cool to see you be so secure with your wants and needs that you didn’t just stick around just to stick around.

    Hey Tara :) I've been following you forever. First of all, I want to say that you can be so proud of yourself. Your growth and glow, they're visible! You really are growing into a self-confident, strong woman and we love to see it!! I have noticed a slight shift ever since you 'put your boundaries back up', I felt a certain distance, some gap, and you closed it today. I didn't feel this gap because of the boundaries you put up in terms of your relationship, I absolutely understand boundaries and how necessary they can be, I can see how it can be mentally exhausting to generally be sharing your life and every bit of it while you get all of these opinions from people on the internet on one side and have all your feelings and obviously how things actually truly are on the other side. I couldn't help but feel a little shut out just generally. So glad you're bringing us along. Just happy to see you happy! Thanks for closing the gap xxx keep glowing

    You’re so right about people idealizing relationships online-but also people just do that in general. My husband is the perfect man for me but when we started dating we were two wildly independent people and I was going back to school and he had been graduated and working for a couple years already. It took a lot of hard work to be together but people always idealized us without knowing the inner workings. We had been best friends for 4 years prior to being together so everyone wanted us to end up together, of course.

    It took me a long time to find the right person, and it was difficult to let certain people go in that process even when I knew they weren't the right one for me. It's good to love people, even if you can't be with them in a relationship setting. I'm glad you're doing okay. It was so nice to see someone bring you so much happiness. It will happen again, and maybe next time it will be THE person, but even if it's not, as long as you're happy and doing well mentally, that's all that matters. Your person will find you, but rushing things along and settling is never the answer. I'm glad you've already figured that out and are setting such a good example for your viewers.

    I am so grateful to have found your videos years ago. I started watching your vlogs and videos from when you first moved to LA and were attending college! Last week I was in LA and it was amazing because every spot I visited I was so excited because I would say this is where Tara has been I hope I see her! Hahaha Thank you for touching on these subjects today. It made me feel less alone to know you also value knowing what you want in a relationship. So many people don’t understand why I don’t just settle with someone and it’s because I know what I am looking for and know what I would like out of a relationship especially if it is going to be long term. If I know right then that it isn’t what I want I immediately remove myself. People call me heartless because I “don’t put in the effort to make it work”. I don’t know this video today was just the words I was hoping to hear for so long from someone because not everyone understands and that is okay. I appreciate you girl keep being you!💜

    Hope you are doing ok, break ups suck, doesn’t matter if your the dumpee or dumper 😫 thank u for sharing with us in such a mature and compassionate way, speaks volumes about your character. As an older viewer I know first hand that the ‘super nice guy’ and ‘good on paper’ guy, isn’t always the right guy :(

    As someone whose last relationship was not great what I loved about seeing your relationship with Simon is YOU. I loved seeing that you were putting yourself out there and you found someone kind. Even though that ended you gave me hope that there are still kind people out there. I’m trying to still figure out how dating doesn’t have to mean forever so thank you for the reminder. And sharing!

    I love how totally self-sufficient you are. Knowing what you want and not settling for anything less is admirable, especially when you have so many young women who see how you handle yourself. A great example.

    Tara, honestly thank you for sharing this with us not because you owed it to us but because I actually went through something similar with a relationship that didnt last too long, but I had amazing times with him and at the end i still had so much love for the guy that we remained friends.. so seeing someone you follow on a daily basis and someone you consider your internet friend going through something similar to you it's comforting!! I promise it will get better at least thats what I kept telling myself and it evetually did! Lots of love, your interner friend, Diana❤

    I admire you for sticking to what you know you want. You can really enjoy someone and their company but if they don’t align with what you’re looking for, knowing when to move on gracefully is growth. Also, tipsy Tara is a vibe 😄

    Hate that you feel like you have to share these things with the world, but your honesty and your mindset are truly inspiring. You're the strong, independent woman that we all aspire to be. You know what you want and you've already built an amazing life (2 actually) full of love and genuine relationships. You're confident enough to never settle and to trust your gut. We all know there's an amazing man out there for you, but he's not the end of the story he's just part of your epic adventure.

    I'm so glad you spoke about this. Literally the day I watched it a girl in her early 20s was telling me that she was scared to date this guy because on paper he seemed perfect and I used ur line about how every relationship dosnt have to be THE relationship. Thanks for putting yourself out there xox

    I’m so shocked! But happy you’re living life and doing it so honest and open. Just because we get along with someone well doesn’t mean it’s compatible which has been a hard lesson for me to learn 😅 so it’s comforting seeing that in the internet relationships I follow too

    You are wise beyond your years girl and you have an amazing head on your shoulders. Thank you for always sharing such positivity and wisdom! Simon seems like a really great guy, but sometimes things don't workout. Not all relationships are meant to be forever...some are meant to teach us something or provide us something for a season in our lives (like you said..both romantic and platonic relationships). Wishing you all the best always!

    Break ups always suck, especially if you knew the person for years before hand. I must say you have matured so much! From stumbling on your videos back since your 1 bedroom apartment in LA to now and seeing you grow up into such an intelligent woman really pushed me to do better myself. Thank you for that ❤️

    I think we need to change the narrative and celebrate women being single. I’m 26 and have been single for a couple years now and people always ask me when I’m gonna find someone and settle down, as if I can go pick a partner off a shelf at a store. The expectations that women always have to be in relationships to be fulfilled is wrong. Breakups are never easy but the way you handled this is respectable. Celebrate what was and the life you have

    I'm probably your mom's age... I always tell my daughters that dating is almost like a job interview. LOL! I dated a few (🤔) men before my daughter's dad and I'm thankful for those past relationships. Each one taught me what I liked and didnt like, what I wanted and didn't want in my future husband! It's all good girl. It takes a strong person to realize these kinds of things and not just settle because it's "time!"

  • @liynne

    The "i knew this would happen" etc, like people. Let people gop through life as any of us would, all of us and you went through these things, just because Tara is on the internet allows these typs of comments. Disrespectfull and rude. We are all the same, yall ain't more special just because Tara allows people in via vlogs.
    Common decency. Let her go through life and experience it like all of us do.
