    Believe it or not, My bike looks very much like yours and I'm in the process of putting some Memphis Shades on. I've been looking for the light extensions but haven't had any luck on finding it. If you can kindly send me a link where I can find it I'd much appreciate it. In the meantime, Keep both wheels on the ground

      Awesome to hear Sabir. Regarding the extension are you referring to headlight or turn signals. If headlight I didn’t need one for my set up. If turn signals I pull wires from my bars and used the Arlen Ness front turn signal fork relocation mounts 12-738. If you need anything else let me know.

      Mine to is that a vinyl wrap on upper fork tubes? I did my tubes it's the little things that make a difference.

    I appreciate the vid first time I’ve see it done on 39mm tubes. I was hoping to get a glimpse of how much room there was in the cockpit.
    If you’re familiar with Plex audio system do you feel as though that there would be enough room for the unit to fit between the faring and your bars.
    Thank you..

    • @DoubleDMoto
      @DoubleDMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Louis! I don’t believe the Plex audio will fit as there’s only probably two inches in between the speedometer and the faring. I guess if you relocate the speedometer you might be able to put it in there. I hope this helps!

      I didn’t, but the wire is very tight. Had no issues with while I had it.

    I see you have the ventilated fairing, I’m about to order mine, what is the difference? I like the way the non ventilated fairing looks better, and I want as much wind blockage as I can get. Does the ventilated fairing block more wind? Less wind? What exactly is the point of the ventilated one versus non ventilated?

    • @DoubleDMoto
      @DoubleDMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought the vented as to help on the hot days here in Texas. From what I’ve read and experienced from other fairings on other bikes I honestly don’t notice a difference. There is a little air movement on my chest area with the vented. I asked Memphis Shades this same question and was told most people just buy non vented. I do think the non vented looks better. One day I will have to block the holes and see if I notice a difference.

      @@DoubleDMoto thanks a lot, also my mechanic is recommending I get a 9 inch windshield because you need to measure from the top of the headlight or some shit, but from what I’ve been reading and watching a 9 inch might not cut it for highway speeds. I’m about 5’9 and I’m riding a Harley 1200 custom XL, you have any advice on windshield height? I’m thinking at least 13 inches.

      Hey Dakota Hood, first I installed a 13 and then changed it to the 17 after riding with it for awhile. Buffering got annoying with 13. Just measure before you buy.

      @@sjcreeper1727 I was going to do the 15 as well but measured and it was 16. So I said I’ll just hope the 17 fixes all. I do get slight buffering over 77 to 80 but definitely way better than the 13. Anything over 50 would wear me out quickly with the 13.

    Hey I’m interested in getting the Memphis shade road warriors and I think I have the same z bars that you are using, expect with my signals underneath my handlebars, do you think I can still put on the fender without relocating?

    • @DoubleDMoto

      You can but the turn signals will be covered up by the fairing. You can still see them thru the screen.

    This was just the video I needed. I am doing the exact setup, except I have a Memphis Shades Cafe fairing. In the description of the headlight extension block, it says it will fit with any fairing. I have only seen people use it with the Road Warrior. Do you know by any chance whether it will fit with the Cafe one too?
    Strangely, MS told me when I contacted them directly just to confirm that this headlight extension block doesn’t fit the Sportster. But on their website, when I select the Road Warrior fairing for the Sportster, it will let me add this extension block as an option, but when I select the Cafe fairing, it won’t. I have a strong feeling that the extension will also work on a Cafe fairing though.

    • @DoubleDMoto
      @DoubleDMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad my video helped, I’m not sure if the extension is needed for the cafe fairing as it doesn’t seem to stick out as far. A least from what I can tell. Sorry I was not much help.

    • @drsparwaga
      @drsparwaga 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DoubleDMoto It has the same gap when you add it. The people I have seen with it never moved the lights out, and I don’t like the look of it. That’s why I want to get the headlight extension too so I can move the lights forward. It’s a good start that it actually fits the Sportster, because MS doesn’t even advertise it fitting a Sportster if you want to buy just the extension. I am going to buy the piece next month regardless and check it out. Hoping it will work.

    • @DoubleDMoto
      @DoubleDMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope it works out for you. I definitely think the gap looks bad and I bet more than likely you would lose some of the light beam of the road.

      @@DoubleDMoto I found a video of a guy who did it on his Street Bob with the Cafe one. Looks promising that it will work for me too. The only difference is the extension block is a different design to the Dyna/Iron version.

    • @DoubleDMoto

      I’m going to say “probably” it might cover some or all of the signal. A friend of mine has his on the stock 1200 Iron with factory apes and covers them just a bit. Not sure about the stock 883 bars. The signals had already been mounted on the fork when I bought the bike. Hopefully this helps! This is one of the best comfort mods to do.

    How is the headlight aligned? I have the same setup and the light points down. Basically useless at night and it's pointed as far up as possible with the extension bracket in place.

    • @DoubleDMoto
      @DoubleDMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I had to did was adjust the headlight extension bracket all the way up to the existing headlight shroud. Then rotated the headlight up as far as it would go. Just make sure the curved washers are facing the correct direction. I would like mine a little higher but is works and I can see down the road at night just fine. I adjust the headlight per the manual and it is off by a small bit. This seemed to work for me, I hope it helps.
