It's strange because usually Bungie is amazing at making everything feels so flashy, snappy and responsive, there's a lot of feedback going on with all the stuff you use, but with Severance it looks like they got pushed away by a gust of wind while you weren't looking.
Nahhh with severance enclosure strand is 100% the way to go! there's a fragment that spawns threadlings on finishers and the more difficult the enemy that's finished the more threadlings spawn plus you get a severing burst on explosions. with the melee regen on strand plus banner of war buffing damage and having woven mail you can constantly loop finishers and explosions and also have grapple grenade melee explosions it's really fun and destructive!
For that Severance build, not running Proximity Ward really damaged its durability in higher-difficulty content. Proximity Ward's overshield in finisher-focused builds cannot be understated, as it gives you a pretty beefy insulation against anything trying to kill you during your finisher animation. I've survived SO much bullshit I had no business surviving in GMs by just snagging a finisher on a random redbar and letting the overshield tank whatever was giving me trouble. I'm talking swarms of cursed thrall, boss attacks aimed directly at me. Anything short of "overwhelming firepower" is survivable if you can get a finisher while you have Proximity Ward equipped.
I just began to experiment with Aeons on a Void Bubble Titan for fun, and yeah, the finisher overshield is a must on anything higher than Legend. I do want to eventually give Severance a go when I can get a good roll on it.
I run prox ward specifically for combining banner of war with abeyant leap. Knowing I can chip enemy health down to finisher saves me the trouble of having to invest my build into a melee centered build
@@jacobo.6744 Strand works very well with Thread of Finality since Threadlings will seriously chunk anything hit by the 30% Weaken from Fel's explosion, but Void's a very obvious choice as well and has a lot more synergy within the kit through Echo of Cessation, Harvest, and Obscurity providing a Volatile debuff, consistent Orb gen, and Invis to make the build safer in general. Any Repulsor Brace weapon on any Subclass gives you free Void Overshield too
That Severance Enclosure build is much stronger on Strand Titan. Not sure if you read this, but use Into the Fray with Banner of War Aspects, and use the Fragment that spawns a Threadling when you use a finisher. Use Grapple Grenade, and make sure on your Class item you use the mod for a powerful overshield when using finishers and the one where finishers heal you. Use it with Monte Carlo. I’ve had severance in a void build for ages. Pair it with devour, invis, and volatile, specifically the fragment that spreads vol to nearby ads when finishing. You weaken a couple targets, push in and get a finish off, and the splash dmg gets everyone else weak, and you just go on a finisher spree. Pair it with the void glaive from a few seasons back, and bastion for constant ovs, and you’re unkillable. I’ve ran it in GMs before and it just was an ad clear machine
You remember in the light fall season where doing a finisher would cause a weakening void explosion? Shit was popping when you paired it with severance man. That explosion would nuke them the volatile/weakening would just annihilate!
@@pch1370 funnily enough, I’ve never actually used Felwinter’s 😭 I’ve seen builds and just, maybe I don’t play as aggro on a lock in end game to make use of it. I'm just here to say that for the severance enclosure Titan build and there should have been a mountaintop there because even then, radiant gives all your weapons that don't already have a champion modifier a barrier champion modifier so instead of double primary it should have been mountaintop.
Titan, Actium War Rig, Xenophage, Solar Scavenger Mod, + (not requited) Xenotaph Warlock. Infinite Xenophage cause each (Small Heavy brick) gives you 13+ ammo, (1 normal brick) gives you a 23+ ammo, so just lay on the trigger with radiant and solar surges active, obliterate everything.
PSA about the fire sprite and it's usage. It's a very useful restoration tool IF you can time the pick up plus the killing of ads. You need to pick up the fire sprite right before killing a group of ads, and you are guaranteed 15 sec of restoration and adds 2 seconds every time you kill an enemy, or pick up a fire sprite. It's very tricky, but you become a god if you can time it just right

Okay crayons munchers it's time to return to your roots Put on insurmountable skull front That is all Thank you (A build I tried in onslaught and had great success with!)
That Titan screwed it up cross is exactly right you want roaring flames with severance because then on top of the solar damage bonus when you’re in between charging your melee or if you just going around punching ads you will proc the severance explosion as long as you have roaring flames. No idea if that’s intentional or what but it is truly awesome. Using that in conjunction of finisher mods for shields and other defense move abilities will shred even high levels.
Severance enclosure without roaring flames is a crime ;-; when you lose your bonk hammer it don't even matter cuz if roaring flames is up you're getting severance to proc since ur melee counts as powered... and the damage increase like cross said. yeah the empowered rift part of starfire is kinda dead. once they nerfed that most people went to your kind of setup with benevolence as well, but then they nerfed the armor cooldown mods and it got hurt again. Still pretty good though.
@@sQuaTsiFieD The user-submitted build also needs to switch out eruption and char for searing and ashes. More firesprites, and you're less reliant on armor mods. I also like using my Cry Mutiny with incan/vorpal.
This was such much better with elemental wells too I miss ele wells so much. Didn't even need to drop rifts except for bosses and Champs. I had it to stack 3 elemental wells every nade kill and it just keeps filling back up. Was more fun than when this got really popular in the RoN lightfall days.
Starfire build would be improved with Heat Rises and swapping Healing Rift -> Phoenix Dive, Eruption -> Empyrean and Mercy -> Singeing. Yea it's a grenade build but Heat Rises is the most OP part of Solar Lock's kit providing infinitely refreshable Restoration x2. We don't need to care about Rift's at all even though Rift is mentioned in the exotic, but since you aren't running empowering rift anyway Phoenix Dive is just straight up better than Healing Rift (because of Resto x2) and it also grants Cure to allies for Benevolence. Gameplay and the amount of grenades you can throw is essentially the same as Sunbracers just without the inconsistency of the requirement of getting a melee kill in group play.
22:56 This is felt on a spiritual level. Consecration should be a damn melee ability option not a separate whole ass aspect... One of my biggest issues with the new subclasses changes we got when 3.0 dropped...
See, the thing is with Severance Enclosure, it's exotic perk revolves entirely off of melee final blows and finishers. I will almost always run it with Monte Carlo. Monte does decent damage by itself and having multiple targets or really big ones charges up your melee much much quicker. You won't be spamming consecration every couple of seconds, but in less than 20 sec, you've got another melee charge ready. Plus, picking up your bonk hammer and then leading into consecration gives you two Severance melee's within 10 seconds of each other. Severance Enclosure + Monte Carlo would make this build a lot quicker and a lot more consistent. That and pairing it with other weapons that have things like Swashbuckler that will feed more melee energy.
For the starfire build use phoenix dive instead of rift, use heat rises, embers of benevolence, empyrean, searing, and ashes. Consume a grenade, use melee ability, and dive immediately should give you restoration x2. Then as long as you stay in the air you'll kinda have all 3 abilities up constantly.
@@Thrasher424 User preference tbh. Sunbracers is more reliant on getting melee kills to keep going, starfire gives you a bit more flexibility. Sunbracers is more aoe while starfire is better single target imo.
@@averythehawknailed it. Sunbracers is goated for area control and mid-low tier add clear, whereas Starfire's double exploding fusion nades are nasty against chunking down and killing the tankier targets like ultras/mini-bosses during later waves. Both fantastic, but Starfire just hits harder and is a bit safer/easier to proc, especially in later waves, where you might not always get your sunbracer's snap final blow off, or one of your teammates kills the add you're going for before you do. Each option requires some setup to get going, but Starfire has def become more viable since its nerf, now that there are more and more weapons added to the sandbox rolling with Heal Clip, to synergize with Benevolence. You're no longer having to chase teammates down to solely rely on using your class ability next to them, or dropping a rift and asking them to dip in and out of it, just to keep proc'ing benevolence lol.
Hey Cross, the reason you aren't seeing firesprites is because you need a source to make them. Ember of Mercy doesn't make them, it only adds the restoration effect. Dragon's Breathe does make them with the catalyst, but if you really want to make firesprites consistently without spamming DB, run Ember of Searing (killing scorched targets) or Tempering (solar weapon kills).
I played with someone running a similar Swarmers build and it was one of the craziest things I've ever seen - just annihilating rooms of adds. Feel like something was missing there, maybe not destroying Tangles enough to take advantage of it.
For Hunter I highly recommend Calibans as well as Renewal Graps. Calibans is self explanatory but Renewal Grasps paired with Devour from Buried Bloodline and a Demo + Wellspring Something New stasis Handcannon you get so much grenade energy that at once I'll have 3-4 grenades out while never reloading the gun plus healing from all kills. Highly recommend for anyone with that exact combo or can get something similar.
Starfire even right after the nerf has been always good. 2 grenade charges by itself is great, with instant rift regeneration it's top tier. The nerf brought it down from S+ tier to S tier.
I've been thinking about the same variant of build. Volatile and jolt and suspend sounds amazing with explosions happening everywhere. I do think they should make the severance package a elemental explosion though. The new invincible shield charging melee with all of these effect would hit a whole crowd and conceivably proc multiple explosions.
Wish keeper / Swarmers build… use indebted kindness with those consumed grenades more. It should almost be your main weapon… using the bow as more of a utility/crowd control aspect of the build. Run special ammo and Ark holster mods to help with the ammo economy, eat every grenade you can and just slap everything with strand infused mini rockets. The bow is great once you get that strand flowing all over the place, indebted kindness with the grenades to get you there
Don't forget: if you have any level of roaring flames, your melee counts as powered so any melee kill with roaring flames x1 will trigger the severance explosion.
For the Wish-Keeper build, another thing you weren't doing Cross, was getting the tankier enemies low with your other weapons and swaping to Wish-Keeper again to get the kill for more threadlings. Every kill not on a Wish-Keeper reduces the overall effectiveness of the build. It was also a waste of ammo to use a GL shot on an enemy that would die in less than half a GL's worth of damage.
i have sooo many comments on soooo many of your build videos over the years saying FS would have mixed classes, and lol no one believed me. Comments are still there!!
I don’t think people really realize this, but if you consume your shackle grenade for weavers trance, any kill that the suspending burst gets will proc ashes to assets
The Starfire build was good but I have almost perfected it. What you showed is 90% of my build but a couple changes make it much more lethal and regens tons of grenades for someone who like to play a bit more aggressively. I don't have the plants to submit but if you're interested look for SinurC in your chat next time I get the chance to pop in
My god finally, I been using starfire for months, hotswap to apotheosis veil when you wanna pop super/boss phaze After you dump your starfire grenades. I prefer pheonix dive for health for a lot shorter cooldown time, then the fragment where scorching enemies speeds up class ability. that way if you throw some shitty grenades you don't have to wait to long for it. fire ass build that feeds off constant movement which you want usually. or even in a gm if using polaris lance in place alot, which will scorch bringing class ability.keep healing teamates keep getting grenades.
I don't know if it's particularly off meta? But I've been using Precious Scars on Solar Titan with regular Hammers (cant remember the Fragments off the top of my head!) But I pair it with a Healclip Hand Cannon, been trying out a Healclip x Killclip Lunas (Want an Incandescent one!) Using Proximity Ward & Healing Finisher. You're constantly healing, you're constantly healing your allies also! I've been using Forerunner with the Hand Cannons to cover all Champs with a full team you dont have to cover as much but it really does cover everything! Also, the Wish-Keeper, Threadling, Swarmers Build is REALLY fun haha.
All I’m saying as someone who loves Starfire, It’s only going to get stronger when Hellion comes around. I also love using Severance on Solar Titan, however using Consecration with it feels like overkill, might as well use a different exotic. And no Proximity Ward is WILD
Starfire is SO underrated today. I never liked it when it was meta because I don't like empowering rift, but now I play it the way you did here, minus I lean more into grenades than weapon damages and I love it
@@tomekk.1889yo didn't lose it XD go test it out... if you want to use half the exotic you can't use healing... you still get your rift back off gernade kills unless my games bugged

Hey Aztecross an idea for an off meta build that has been heavily slept on in onslaught is Astrocyte Verse, feed the void and child of the old gods. Trust me just throw it on with gravaton and play very aggressively by jumping and making everything volatile. I pull 1300+ kills a large majority of the time each match by just having fun and using my mobility as a weapon. Though you need to know how to blink if you want to do use it effectively.
I switched to Severance Enclosure once Dunemarchers got nerfed to not work with hammer throw. Having the oversheild finsiher mod makes it much more useable.
I feel consecration with pyrogales clear adds just as easy, plus it makes your super better. I feel severance enclosure isn't big enough explosion, maybe just me.
I think the biggest issue is Severance Enclosure just needs to do MORE. The explosions are nice, but why use a melee to nuke a wave and get 1 orb out of it when you could use your weapons, not put yourself in melee range, and get as many as 3 or 4? There needs to be something like enemies damaged by the explosion grants melee energy, and/or enemies killed by the explosion drops orbs of light. It's fun, but it will never be good/great unless it can loop into itself better.
I could see it granting Devour or spreading Void Overshield on finishers vs stronger targets tbh. Something to make teammates thank you for diving into the thick of it, rather than stressing over it.
Biggest slap in the face to warlocks. Meanwhile, they just whistle past how broken Golden gun DPS can be. The second they seen Starfire cut out compete their favorite child hunter it was over
@@kcisthe1st goldie was only competitive dps when kinetic surge was working on it. Admittedly the build can still regen super ridiculously fast, but you can do that same thing with slightly less dps on a vortex nova bomb with dire ahamkara, with the option of it also not just being single target

Consume a grenade, use melee ability, and dive immediately should give you restoration x2. Then as long as you stay in the air you'll kinda have all 3 abilities up constantly.
At that point why not just use Sunbracers?
Bro, the knockback from the slam at 10:03 literally saved you from Dragon's Breath detonation killing you, haha
It’s that time in the season where I try and make Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves work.
I like to use ember of Temperance on my starfire build, just for the increased recovery, fits really well into my support-warlock play style
I played with someone running a similar Swarmers build and it was one of the craziest things I've ever seen - just annihilating rooms of adds. Feel like something was missing there, maybe not destroying Tangles enough to take advantage of it.
Roaring flames with severance enclosure so your normal melee's cause the explosion, it also buffs the bonk to cause them more.
Severance Enclosure is my favorite Titan build to run
Starfire even right after the nerf has been always good. 2 grenade charges by itself is great, with instant rift regeneration it's top tier. The nerf brought it down from S+ tier to S tier.
I'm interested to see how the severance build will work with prismatic. Spirit of severance + Spirit of synthoceps/contact sounds nice.
Another warlock build that one, never saw that coming
Been rocking starfire since the beginning of the year with heal clip weapons. Benevolence makes it very relevant again 👀
I would say conditional finality was the first “prism” weapon as it contains two elements one of darkness and one of light.
Severance with strand is OP, if you ignore the effects & explosion looks then it’s really good
Wish keeper / Swarmers build… use indebted kindness with those consumed grenades more. It should almost be your main weapon… using the bow as more of a utility/crowd control aspect of the build. Run special ammo and Ark holster mods to help with the ammo economy, eat every grenade you can and just slap everything with strand infused mini rockets. The bow is great once you get that strand flowing all over the place, indebted kindness with the grenades to get you there
Mercy, resolve, benevolence, empyrian... precious scars. Heal clip weapon.
The Severance is much better on Void. You can make everything volatile around you causing mire explosions as well as procing devour and invis.
Severance enclosure is a void titan thing not much of solar. It can spread volatile to each enemy especially with explosive finisher.
I love severance I use it with strand grapple if ur ever in a pinch spam finisher with proximity ward
hahah, I'm that "never take Sunbracers" off dude 100%.
Aztecross should try his colonel mustang build during this season with onslaught with the solar mods
i have sooo many comments on soooo many of your build videos over the years saying FS would have mixed classes, and lol no one believed me. Comments are still there!!
I don’t think people really realize this, but if you consume your shackle grenade for weavers trance, any kill that the suspending burst gets will proc ashes to assets
Idk if you have tried felwinters on strand but the consistent debuff is great.
The Starfire build was good but I have almost perfected it. What you showed is 90% of my build but a couple changes make it much more lethal and regens tons of grenades for someone who like to play a bit more aggressively. I don't have the plants to submit but if you're interested look for SinurC in your chat next time I get the chance to pop in
Would you please post your build here? would love to try it
My god finally, I been using starfire for months, hotswap to apotheosis veil when you wanna pop super/boss phaze After you dump your starfire grenades.
Try precious scars with a dragonfly/incandescent tyranny of heaven, it literally feels like a bow version of polaris lance
I never liked it when it was meta because I don't like empowering rift, but now I play it the way you did here, minus I lean more into grenades than weapon damages and I love it
Maybe you lost healing rift but your grenades kills still healed you so there was no need for it anyways
@@tomekk.1889yo didn't lose it XD go test it out... if you want to use half the exotic you can't use healing... you still get your rift back off gernade kills unless my games bugged
Im confused, whats cosidered "empowering damage" outside of the empowering rift?? Cuz i was thinking cross was running wrong rift...but he still gettin genades back quick
I've gotten 865 kills and 331 orbs created, with a score of almost 19,000. I carry people 😉👍🏼
Proxy ward is vital for that build. I have a clan mate that has mained Severance for almost 2 years.
That bow sound makes me think of what I'd expect Splatoon to sound like (no, I've never played it)
For the starforge build, swap Summoner's for Lunas and you get the grenade energy from indominatiblilty
Should be using Monte Carlo with the titan meele build with a solar energy or primary for second
I can't get over the noise that strand bow makes, it's just a constant _splort! splort! splort!_ when he's shooting the thing.
Sounds like he's firing arrows made out of Nickelodeon slime
Severance Enclosure Strand titan is optimal Boom.
Makes me want to do this I got a mountaintop with demo and recombination that's gonna make this noice.
Tried making a starfire protocol build with Lumina which kinda works but not as well as it should or as much as I’d hoped. Worth tinkering with tho.
Starfire surprised me and Ill probably have to give that a go sometime even though im a hunter main lol
I feel consecration with pyrogales clear adds just as easy, plus it makes your super better. I feel severance enclosure isn't big enough explosion, maybe just me.
My strand Hunter/ suspend and Beyblade bow bulid
Like Cross said, I came here for the builds and I stayed here for the magnanimous chat conversations lol
Noice Double Finisher @ 26:38🦾🦾🤌🤌
Severence with Facet of Defiance will go crazy for stasis titan super on prismatic
Please try severance on void with volatile and invis finisher. If you just go for finishers you will crap ok everything and have insane survivability
I made a arc hunter build using lier's handshake, and Trinity ghoul and its fun for a off metah build.
I still love how bungie after all this time only gave starfire an ornament and an amazing one at that after it got nerfed.
Still a great exotic
