- This is surviving the Himalayas and 184km to Everest Base Camp! It's part 3 of our 12 day trek and this is what we feared the most. Previously we started of by taking the worlds most dangerous flight to Lukla. Then pushing our bodies to higher altitudes and seeing Mount Everest for the first time. Congratulations, we did the same walk 43 years ago, Lukla airstrip was grass and gravel, Namche Bazaar was a small village we slept in tents in yak fields outside monasteries and tea houses. No crowds, kids running with us barefoot from village to village. It was magic. 17 days in 6 days out, 23 days to do the same journey.
WOW! its definitely a trek that is hard to forget, i can only imagine how it was back then!🤗⛰

Absolutely incredible video ! Loving this series so much. EBC is something I have always wanted to do but never got round to it. Now I am 51 and I don't know how old Dev's dad is, but now I am motivated to take the plunge after watching him and a big thankyou to all of you, you are such an inspirational team. My husband and I have done Mardi Himal treck in May whitin 3 days - My body let me down at 3000 m I had to stay at tea house and my husband has reached @ 4200 m Mardi Himal treck view point. We are over 50 ( working in the office🤦♀)- that was really hard for us - we were hiking 9 hours first day I had altitude sickness despite taking medication 😞😞 Anyhow watching your video it looks easy but we know how hard it was even for you young / and fit !! We are so proud of ourselves - we will remember this for ever.... Lots of love from Jersey Channel Island xx

5000 meters you say wow :) I bet you guys are in shape now after doing all these steps and climbing, 1 degree it is chilly not cold, you should come to Toronto Canada in winter to say it is cold, although we are getting close to summer. it is so amazing to see mount Everest I should say live, hang in there Shev. 1 degrees in high altitude is generally colder than 1 degrees in lower altitude like toronto. Temperature decreases with increasing altitude due to the decrease in air pressure and the expansion of the air. As a result, the same temperature value at a higher altitude will feel colder than at a lower altitude.

Yes it is difficult to hike in EBC (everest base camp) but once you are there the beauty of everest will be running in your blood !! When ever you think in hustle and bustle of every day work about your hike at everest, it will definately refreshen you i think.
