That first game was so painful. The knight just came into his base and killed all his dudes while he sat and watched.

Upon engine analysis, 24 ...b5 is not even that bad, nor is 25... bxc4. His main mistake is to play 26... cxb3 instead of Rxd8, and 27... bxc2 instead of bxa2 which would have let him threaten promotion

NL, you are much better than the average Joe at Chess. As a person who only knows the rules but loves your content, you got me into it and I feel like I've learned a bit from you. I'd kinda like to see you go over more of your losses since I also go, "maybe he coulda done this here?". And you know I'm usually wrong but it's still neat to see how accurate you were and what moves fumbled. :)

I absolutely love this era of chess. The 90/10 split of mostly "I'm just here to have fun playing chess" with just a dash of tryharding and chess theory now and then is just the perfect vibe. And even though you've said your goal is just to have fun without focusing so much on improving, I do think you're getting better. Or maybe I'm just getting worse. But either way, you keep finding good moves I didn't see. You also find a lot of blunders I didn't see but that's part of the beauty of it as well. Thanks for the content as always NL

first game, move 11, what do y'all make of Bb4+, Kd1 Be7? the bishop check is safe because their knight is pinned to the queen; given elo and time controls there's a chance white overlooks this and blunders, and otherwise you've prevented them from castling and can still bring the bishop back to stymie their attack.

I spent most of this video wondering how he could possibly be playing literally without even thinking for a moment what would happen after every move - and then I realised he's been telling me the entire time. He actually plays on instinct. I thought he just meant having good heuristics, but no. I'm still flabbergasted how that even works. No wonder he only analyses his good plays, and resigns the rest: he only means to refine his instinct. You can actually see what happens when he says he's actually thinking it through and it takes him 10+ seconds to work out a simple trade - he really doesn't normally do this. In chess. He plays on instinct in chess. I didn't think that would even be possible. My entire worldview is in pieces thanks to this man.
