    They are. Quite easy to work on, just sourcing parts and wreckers are fast running out of these beautiful pieces of Japanese engineering!

    There is really no aftermarket support for these cars. You have to do all custom things to it. Yup you got it Junk yards and Craigslist and 1stgencivicDOTcom will be your best friends.

    Love this ride! The blue tinted gauges are classy. Future classic for sure. :) How is the aftermarket support? I'm thinking junkyards and Craigslist are a must?

    I have the 78 Civic cvcc here, Just did this carb swap thing, I don't have a tach in this car though. I wonder why.. also , i don't see this went in there the direction you put it in, mines on with the throttle on the other side of the carb. K725 weber. the plates would not correspond to the cvcc hole in the manifold when I tried putting it on this direction, also the brake booster vacuum from the base of that bottom plate would not allow the throttle to turn at all, one other thing was the k725 has electric choke and that chokes body was RIGHT on the firewall when the car was in like yours, so any rock back of the engine smacked all that pressure on the carb.. but everything made sense when i put it on the other direction, EXCEPT I had to rout the throttle cable a little weird.

    • @RockAnAhardSpot
      @RockAnAhardSpot 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Leisure suit Larry that is how you do it. funny that there is no directions for that. i think the reason is, there is not that many CVCC out there and people just have never had any directions. make me wonder how many hondas out there are running around with backwards carbs. LOL i would think more folks would get a clue when they see the choke right up against that firewall like that. I mean, it literally has to hold the whole weight of the engines force for a second every time it's under load. the slight movement of the engine flexing against the mounts when you hit that gas to go whacks the choke frame on the firewall if the carbs not turned round right. If you didn't do it right , then we are both wrong. LOL!
      but its running like a champ, smooth as glass and gets awesome gas mileage so i am going to say it;s correct as can be for this carb. i think it;s funny too though, this carb is ALMOST too much. the settings are so close to all the way in to get it run right it's nearly turned all the way down. LOL plenty of room to turn it up if future mods on this engine happen. :O)

    Is that a Weber carburetor you're having on your car? What is your experience of it? Is there a significant power increase over the stock carb? Thanks in advance!

    I love this little car. I remember a teacher having a brown one in spectacular condition. But today, it just seems like it would be such a bitch to fix when something needed replacing.

  • @RockAnAhardSpot

    Hey man, Your Carb is on backwards, i know it looks like it;s not compared to an American but it is, the only way those adapter plates can work to make the CVCC part of the ignition work is if that carb is turned around, the 32/36 is designed to open up that way as well, You know? the 32 opens in front with the carb seated the way i said and the 36 opens later when you stomp on it. The CVCC port hole in the adaptor plate only reaches the CVCC hole ONE WAY and the carb can only sit with the choke facing the front of the car on the plate when it's seated correctly on the manifold.
    really odd that your 78 has a tach stock on the dash and this 78 here does not. Anyway, when you turn that carb around you will get better performance and gas mileage. also better throttle response. I made a cool little bracket that hooks to the bolt on the valve cover to attach a bad ass spring I got at the hard ware store, it's perfect and cost only 5 bucks.

      @kenfrazee41 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the primary barrel needs to feed the stratified charge port, surprised the motor runs. assuming it's not a canadian model. I used to run return spring to valve cover too. Some 5speed models came with a tach and one could find them at junkyards cheap, as well as the guages in middle of dashboard, which have mounting bosses when the dash is cut out.

    • @PBandJTime
      @PBandJTime 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ken frazee Actually, the reason that it has a tach, is because it's a 5-speed. All 1st gen Civics, with the 5-speed, come with a tach. It was part of the 5-speed package. I believe that the rear window def, was also part of that, too.

      Those 1st gens were the funnest cars I've ever messed with. I'm old enough to remember when junkyards had buttloads of parts for them. 1751 and trans from 82 Prelude, like 250$, mostly bolt on swap, boom!

    • @kenfrazee41
      @kenfrazee41 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      These days I would be looking at a d series swap, as the 1st gens were 400-500 lbs lighter than an eg.

    O.k, 80 m.p.h, while holding a cell phone, in a 1st gen Civic, isn't very smart. These cars don't handle that well. You need to mount that phone, & have both hands, on the steering wheel.
    Also... uhm... "BRAKE" light was on.

    Yes that's correct it's a weber 32/36. Oh yes a significant increase of power. The best upgrade I did for my car and converting it to electronic points.

  • @chuyrosales
    @chuyrosales 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    nope! when I sold the car I put back the original stock carburator. I know have a 1974 Civic 1200 and I have that same weber on it. Cool thing is that 75 and below I don't have to get the car smogged anymore.

    Hey man sorry for my late reply. Dude. I wish I could just head to Atlanta. You have to take everything around it off. I recommend you take it to a mechanic who knows how to do it. Cause you can mess up your car if you don't know what you're doing. Did you get it fixed?
