Why are so many people upset about what this guys doing? He’s respectful, open minded and just wanted to test the waters abit. The person did not use the correct word, those are not really spirits but are deity that guard, governs, or messenger from Hell. The man in trans is suppose to be possesses by the deity by the name of The Heibai Wuchang, or Hak Bak Mo Seong, literally "Black and White Impermanence", are two Deities in Chinese folk religion in charge of escorting the spirits of the dead to the underworld.
My goodness, the wrong person with the worst language that resulted rights to be distorted and misunderstood. I hope this video can be removed so as not to mislead perception against Taoism or Buddhism. To begin with, you do not refer Taoism or Buddhism as spirit. Spirit is contrary to ghost towards caucasian understanding. You are bringing Chinese believe to a whole new level to praying to ghost or devil.

This kind of trance is a practice developed by the hokkien chinese. It is interesting to see how these practices have evolved differently as hokkien diasporas spread to Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. These trance typically involve a medium getting possessed by spirits. Different temples/doctrines have different practices varying from piercings to walking on hot charcoal. These are well rehearsed. Accidents do happen sometimes: a malaysian taoist medium suffered from heart attack while performing such an act in 2017. Fortunately, such old practices which later became a commercialized business model are dying out.

Alright , I have a real taoist master friend who know all this . Basically , if u ever wonder why he is doing all this stuff when being possess is because when the deity come , its energy are far to strong for a human physical body to handle , just like when u summon a demon and the whole room energies felt different , some might begin to vomit or feel ill due to the entity bioenergy .

The Abrahamic definition of God and the Taoist definition of God is very different. God means the one and the almighty in Abrahamic religions while Gods in Taoism is more akin to the deities, their powers more equivalent to angels and they have various ranks and roles in Heaven.
The Almighty in Taoism is referred to as The "Tao", the Way and the Path. The 3 equivalents of the Tao are the Sanqing Daozhu (三清道祖）or "The Three Pristine Ones". Just like how the number 3 is sacred to Christianity with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the 3 Pristine Ones in Taoism are
1) 元始天尊 1) The Primeval Lord of Heaven (Yuan Shi Tian Zun)
2) 灵宝天尊 2) The Heavenly Lord of Numinous Treasure (Ling Bao Tian Zun)
3) 道德天尊 3) The Heavenly Lord of Tao and Virtue (Dao De Tian Zun)
All 3 forms into and is part of Tao, which in this case is similar to God in the western sense. The Tua Li Ya Pek (大伯公) you see here is not a devil nor a demon, he is a deity whose role in the Underworld (not Hell) is akin to the Grim Reaper, he guides the souls to the underworld for judgement.
Unfortunately in Taoism, there are a lot of charlatans who are in it for the money. Although we believe that the deities from heaven do actively try to help out and guide people out of compassion through selected mediums, we have to be observant and knowledgeable in order to differentiate between the fake and the real ones. The mediums have a very strict set of rules to follow, and then only some people might get selected. The mediums must be vegan, can not kill, compassionate and does good all the time, and cannot accept money (exceptions are donations given voluntarily for the temple). If they observe the rules strictly, only then will they have a slim chance to get selected by the deities to do good.

I think you were trying to disprove or insult these people here, but be warned. Just when you don't believe in these things doesn't mean they aren't real. Ive seen real trance. Skeptics should go to penang malaysia and find "penang ghost king". Real invincibility vs knives, chainsaw etc. or do this: try insulting random people in banyuwangi indonesia. Your western doctors will be perplexed when they removed barbedwires for example out of your body cavities (namely stomach).

Actually,if I'm not mistaken,in Taoism believes,both hell and heaven worked together,and the Buddha you saw in the hell section is called 地藏王菩萨,he's one of the guardians of hell and the deity that possessed the medium is Tua di ya pek,Di ya pek and Tua di ya pek are good brothers and are the deities that will bring souls to hell so they can be judge 阎王爷,the judge of hell
Earth store boddhisatva is not a Buddha. He is also not a guardian of hell. His vow is that he will help all beings in hell to achieve Buddhahood before becoming a Buddha himself.
In Chinese Folk Religion, the judge of hell is King Yama. Dua Ya Ji Pek are subodinates of King Yama.

Even the Taoist worshipped Lao Tzu as one of their highest gods, Tao Te Ching is seen as one of various scriptures and only reflect one aspect of Taoism on political and invidual life, not like the Qu’ran or Bible. And it’s not the original teaching but written based on one aspect of the older Ch’u original lifestyle. Basically bunch of misconception here.
