- When the Malayan Railway had to vacate the land at Tanjong Pagar, so did Sri Muneswarar Peetam Hindu temple. After an eight-year-long search for a new home, they wound up in an unexpected place - A Taoist temple nestled in Ubi Road. In multi-religious and land scarce Singapore, does this come as a surprise?

This is the highest form of respect for each other's religion
I wish that schools can have visits to this type of temples and teach our children how special and wonderful country we live in, that we are so tolerant of each other that even 2 different religion and places of worship can live together side by side without conflict. Maybe there should even be a documentary made about our unique temples and places of worship.
Back then throughout my primary school even to secondary school years, we had this NE Learning Journey (i think?) that all us students go on a educational tour at all the historical and religious places in Singapore. Had loads of fun learning as all of us keep asking the teachers questions. Ended up it will be the tour guide or the person-in-charge answers all our queries. Flashback good memories!
Agreed.
I agree
@@HM13. ya i rmb i went to indian temple in pri sch
I'm not a religious person, but this is beautiful.
From? And not religious unafillated? Or agnostic
i don’t know why this temple isn’t more famous! a great example of racial and religious harmony in singapore
lol i forgot i made this comment. as someone who's half-buddhist and half-taoist, i should pay a visit to this temple...
Good Luck To You I am Half Hindu Half Buddhist From Northeast Indian from The Sikkim State@@share_accidental
Thank you, OGS, for this lovely piece. Are you considering doing one on the Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple that houses deities from three religions - Taoist, Buddhist, and Hindu - and also a Muslim kramat (shrine)? That is another story of religious harmony in Singapore.
I like how this is not unusual to us.
Lol I was thinking exactly the same!
Wow I can't believe my eyes that this exists in Singapore! How lovely would it be to see such harmonious setting in the neighboring country Msia
Really glad that Sri Muneswarar Peetam found a wonderful place. Previously when it was located at temporary place at Upper Bukit Timah road, I always visit this temple and this priest is really friendly and nice👍🏼
Im totally moved 😢, yes God is one , worship in different form n religion
Hats off
Hello from the Malaysian side. I wish the muslims from Malaysia could be this tolerant.
Islam can't coexist with any religion. According to them non Muslims will go to hell.
@@prakharprabhat585 Lmao. Yeah Modi and India is the epitomy of coexisting.
@@firdaus125 non secular people pretending to be secular have to be controlled through Modi

@@prakharprabhat585 Weird right Taoist men praying to an Indian God. Isnt it like a betrayal of the religion.
This is beautiful and makes me really proud of where I come from!
See how beautiful and peaceful the religion is if they can come together to common goal...save people and the world.
Only eastern religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Shintoism can breed this type of tolerance...imagine Muslims and Christians doing this 😂
I know right ..haha
How can someone practice tolerance where their very belief states their God is the only god.
Then they will start another crusade war 😂😂😂😂😂
this is what we call harmony
God is one, indeed!
Agreed! 😊☺️
Only Eastern cultures can do this. All Easter cultues are Spiritual
wrong. Romans did it too. Like the Lakshmi murti found in Pompeii
In the Vedas there's a saying... *ekam sat vipra bahudha vadanti*
Meaning - God is One, the sages call it by many names.
@JEEMAINS-nu1ck Satya hi parmatma he aur parmatma hi param satye he
Very inspiring and wonderful to see. More people need to see this.
Cause unlike Abrahamic religion both religions are accepting and tolerance of other faith.
Santana Dharma for example believe in a singularity of divine essence that appear in different forms.
Chinese folk religions do not worship deities as Gods but rather as humans who attain divinity thru good works or luck.
as a catholic you couldn't have said it better. maybe Catholic and Orthodox but thats about it
Interesting fact , there is a mosque with chinese temple (pek kong) architecture in indonesia Cheng Hoo mosque and Al Mahdi mosque , but Indonesia rn some of ppl r still being intolerance to others :(. They r too easy to be offended by religion things 😒
The dieties of Hinduism are God realized. Hinduism believes entire existence to be the manifestation of Brahman(The eternal God of Hinduism).you're also Brahman. It's a matter of self discovery. And the Hindu deities realized this thing. Even hindu saints realize this and attain liberation.
@Ansul Hackerman if you don't understand estoric teachings, don't comment.
@Ansul Hackerman I am sorry to say but you're far away from tao. In the east we don't compare religions. Keep your western mindset to yourself. It has ruined Christianity. It'll ruin Taoism too
This is a very wholesome video. I hope religion starts leaning in this direction more often.
im atheist but this is very heartwarming 🙏🏻
This is truly amazing!!!
Beautiful and genuine example of harmony in sg
Loyang temple is most amazing for supporting multiple religions
It is the Temple of almost all religions.
I love Singapore unity......
Now this amazing 😮😮😮😮
Truly remarkable As seeing two race instead of rivalry they Respected one another and here I thought this world was bad. 👍👍
Awesome video that warms my heart
What a harmonious world we would live in if people of all religions welcomed one another in to their churches to praise their own gods and respect the gods of others 💝
AWESOME TO ALL DEVOTEES, UNCLES , AUNTIES ,BROTHER AND SISTERS WE ARE HAPPY FAMILIES.
👍👍🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🇸🇬
This is literally a microcosm of what societies EVERYWHERE ought to be ❤
Hinduism n chinese folk religion ( believe in deity .reincarnation.karma n dharma ( duty ) . Hindu n chinese praying is similiar .
Muantabbbb...👍👍👍

The Model of racial & religious harmony....
Race is illusory.
India, the Malay Archipelago, China, Korea and Japan have interacted since ancient times.
We are more similar then we realise.
I like how they are not sceptical 🤨 of the other religions under the same roof

Mr Shiva Please pray for your dead ancestors in chinese ways in streets side burning candles, papers, and putting food overnight under trees and along the streets for death anniversaries of your dead ancestors in the month of hungry ghost festival.
Ok i m confuse that i just saw a Taoist person praying to an Indian god.
and an indian praying to a taoist god
Taoism/Chinese Folk Religion is essentially a Chinese version of Hinduism. The two are fundamentally very, very similar. It's just that Indian and Chinese people don't often have the chance to get into close contact with one another often for people to know. However, in SE Asia in places like Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, this is kind of a well-known thing. Indians praying in Chinese temples and Chinese in Hindu temples isn't rare.
@@tc2334 So which religion Taoist or Hinduism?
@@wetheboms Are you asking which religion I am? or..
@@tc2334 I mean those people who pray to Chinese and Indian gods? They belong to Taoist or Hinduism?
wait what? a cow? there?
Yes, in many Hindu rituals cows will be walked through a building as a part of a blessing.
More than 300 million gods ,how can be 1 god?
Even the gods also do not know who created them and as humans we think we
know everything in the heaven ,billions of universes and countless of cosmos. Tell me you know which area in the outer space. Answer is nobody will ever know who created who.
you can never ever see muslim doing this NEVER.... and I'm glad.
