    Really liked your coverage of your exit from Chattanooga going down to Nickajack. I am a lifelong Chattanooga resident. I have hunted and fished along the entire length of that cruise . It’s interesting to hear your descriptions and impressions.
    It is a beautiful stretch of the river. Glad you came to see it.👍🙃

    I have done this section multiple times sense I have lived her all my life. The Tennessee River Gorge cuts through the Cumberland Plateau, bisecting it. Yea, it looks nothing like the Grand Canyon. But its one of the nicest river cut canyons that you can safely boat through. That was not the case before the Hales Bar dam was built. That section of river was dangerous. One of those random deep sections you talked about is at the mouth of Suck Creek. That hole was called the Suck. There was a Whirlpool there that could suck down some rather large boats.

      Lots of Bald Eagles in this area. They were reintroduced in Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgia years ago. Several breeding pairs are now on each of the mountains. I live on the mountain south of the dam an have a breeding pair behind my house. The mountain straight ahead as they go through the locks on the next video, the Cherokee called Eagle mountain. From what I understand, it had an unusually large population of them back then.

    Nov 28!! You know you are boating late when a) water is turned off and b) no one else on the docks
    Beautiful although I'm sure the colours would have been more impressive a month or more earlier.

    Did y'all consider continuing on to Knoxville and the end of this leg of the loop? How much farther would it have been?

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We definitely considered it... IIRC it would have been around 3 days one way to get from Chattanooga to Knoxville. We estimated, all in, it would add about a week to the side trip. We've heard that the River just gets more beautiful and more beautiful as you head up stream, so it's on the bucket list for the future! I think we simply wanted to start heading south and prioritized staying put in Chattanooga for Thanksgiving. Cheers!

      I can confirm it's great. I grew up in east TN, and made an annual Chattanooga boat trip with my grand parents and their friends from kingston TN on Watts Bar lake to Chattanooga. We did that for 20 years every year, a flotilla of run abouts and cabin cruisers would make the trip....good times.

    So the drone is showing you docking. Is there an auto tracking feature? Does someone drive the drone or is there an autopilot to it? Your drone footage is amazing.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, Ben! While our drone does have some sort of auto-tracking, in this situation, I (Elliot) positioned it as we were arriving at the dock and then just let it hover as we pulled in. It was such a beautiful spot!

      @@SchoandJo - Really was amazing. I've gushed over your photo work enough already, but continue to admire how you stretch the technology/employ multiple cameras/and edit for crispness. I'll get a good drone soon (crashed a cheap one into the drink 🙄) so appreciate your response very much. Thanks!
