How to make a traditional indigenous feather headdress or cocar

  • I filmed how a traditional cocar or feather headdress is assembled. There are many ways to do it but this one of them. Made by Txana Ixa from the Huni Kuin tribe in Brazil. Please be aware of the fact these indigenous attributes are used for ceremonial, spiritual and traditional practises. A 'cocar' needs to be earned by taking the shamanic path.

    How interesting! I'm partly indigenous and I have never seen a cocar being done. I have made a few for home decor, by just creating my own technique. If an índio sees it he may nod his head and say: You are fired!
