I absolutely love all the love that Kutovakika is getting on your channel ❤️ her patterns are fantastic and shes the first knitting youtuber I came across and was huge in me discovering and falling in love with this hobby two years ago! She also just announced shes coming out with her second knitting book this year which is so exciting!
I, for one, am putting in a vote for you to try her Salty Days sweater. So classy and effortlessly intricate.

For what it’s worth, knits can stretch about two inches before they start to distort. This can help with picking sizes across your full bust. Also, for those of us who have a larger difference between high bust (measured right under the armpits) and full bust, it may be better to choose a size using your high bust measurements. This can been a real game changer for me!

Nora, you're such an enabler! Your description of the I-cord from the tank made me buy that pattern. I'm finishing up another tee that has an Icord edge. I'm not liking how its laying but that part from the tank might just be what I was looking for. Thanks!!

Regarding the Tolsta tank, if you're between sizes, gave you looked at her bust shaping options? You might be able to drop a size in the body but incorporate the bust shaping. I'm SO glad she's starting to include that in her patterns, because I'm quite a busty lady!

The way OSI kept showing up climbing the stairs, it felt like I was seeing a repeating video in the background ... like I was watching a glitch in the Matrix.
I use Susan Bates digital counter ring. I put it on my pointer finger on my right hand and I click it with my right thumb while I'm knitting. It's also cheap enough that I have a few on hand for a few projects.

I just knit a shawl in Malabrigo Sock which is superwash merino and now I think I should knit a Sailor Swift tank in that, it would be lovely as a winter undergarment. I love the idea of always having a tank top on the needles - great suggestion.

Happy Saturday Nora! Sitting here and listening to the Knitting math and I'm thinking to myself "this is exactly the magic of making a 'me' made wardrobe" having that ability to make adjustments even within a pattern and making anything fit your personal style preference and size preference. You execute confidence in your abilities to change and adjust your knits in such an awesome way! Love these weekly videos! I'm so tempted to cast on a Sailor swift top now.

I'd really recommend blocking out your cable sweater and trying it on again, cable gauge can change a lot with blocking! I have used the berroco ultra wool superwash in a fingering weight and I thought it just felt so awful when I was knitting with it but it softened a TON after washing so I think the feel of it will improve once you block it, too!

I know another comment says the opposite but I believe what you're describing is HALF Twisted Rib, since you're only twisting the knit stitches. If you were twisting both knit and purl that would be considered Twisted Rib. Half Twisted and Twisted basically look the same on the right side, but on the wrong side Half Twisted looks like regular ribbing. I use Half Twisted rib for anything where you're only seeing the right side (because its easier haha), but for example on a folded beanie brim you would want to use Twisted because you'd be seeing the wrong side of the fabric! And obviously these minor name differences are not that serious!! Love your podcast and I hope you feel better soon

I have also been thinking about superwash lately- I have a problem with my garments felting in the underarms after I've worn them a few times. I've never tried superwash for anything other than socks before so I just picked up some Drops Karisma to try out for a sweater to see if that makes a difference! I figured the coating that protects the wool for washing might protect against the felting as well

I started gauge swatching after I made a summer top which ended up much too big. If your stich gauge is off by just one or two stiches, it will make a jumper too big or small. My problem is that I usually match either the stitch gauge or the row gauge, but hardly ever both at the same time.😅

When I am making many pattern adjustments, I use an adjustable mannequin. It's been an excellent tool and well worth the cost. I can try my knits on as often as I need to.

Loving the Sailor Swift Tank! Definitely making me want to cast one on. Lol
As for the yarn weight- you mentioned a Fingering to DK - wouldn’t that be considered Sport Weight?? Just want to make sure I have my yarn weights correct. Thank you!

      @akaNoraKnits  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

Thank you!! It totally does cover sport weight! She actually says, “You can choose a fingering, sport or light DK weight yarn for the Sailor Swift Top”
It just depends on the gauge density and fit that you’re looking for!

Next time on a long circular cast on, just purl the second row (and maybe do another knit row), before joining in the round. Much easier to see any twist and you just cinch up those couple of rows at the end with your tail. (IE knit flat in pattern for a few rows, then join.)

Nora, love your podcast and your sweater in progress with those lush cables! You might not have to backtrack to subtract those 13 or so stitches from the underarms. You could use a tapestry needle to whip some yarn through them to 'loop' them out of the way and knit on with the desired stitches. A loop on the inside in that area would not seem to be a bother at all; you could even 'tack' it afterwards when you are weaving in other ends. Just an idea . . . but you are so quick with knits that you probably have already amended it before I hit 'send!' :)

I think Knit Chat is the name of the podcast where I heard this but apparently line, the drops linen yarn, and King Cole Linendale are essentially the same yarn.
I love the idea of having a tank always on the needles. I love a not intentional twin set look.

I appreciate that you discuss troubleshooting with your knits. It makes your podcast unique, and I feel relief about my own troubleshooting, just knowing I'm not alone.
I was a crocheter and started knitting about the same time as you. Question for you since you were discussing techniques.
Have you ever considered the master hand knitting program. I have tried my own research. However, I'm not sure what the benefits of completion are (Other than learning technique). Have you heard of it or considered it?

I decided on a second Tolsta Tee rather than a tank because it’s my first time doing bust darts and I’d prefer trying that top down first. If you’re having trouble matching your size, you might want to try the bust dart instructions.
I’m so jealous of all the yarns people can thrift and the wool sweaters people just somehow find at Goodwill? Nobody where I live wears natural fibers or uses natural yarn, and I do prefer the feel of natural yarns (except I do like superwash.)

Thanks for the i-cord tip - I love Kutovakika’s TH-cam channel, but haven’t knit any of her patterns; looks like I’ll be purchasing the Sailor Swift pattern. Lol.
Rebecca’s Tolsta tank is such a fast, easy knit. I knit the DK vest version for her Tolsta KAL in about a week! I’m about 3/4 through a second one - doing a cami front with the vest back. I also have plans for a Tolsta tee - still debating whether to do the DK or the fingering weight.
    Have a great week, Nora!

As for superwash yarn, I don't use it except for hand dyed, because it takes dye way better than untreated wool and you can get incredible color payoff. That's why I also feel the price is warranted for hand-dyed superwash skeins.

I‘m a knitter and a sewist and I have some thoughts about the cabled sweater: am I seeing it correctly that the back of the armhole is longer than the front? This could lead to fit problems as the sweater will then droop in the back and be higher up in front. Also depends on how low the neckline sits in the back, I didn’t see that too clearly.
I‘m very much looking forward too seeing how this sweater turns out! 😊

    • @akaNoraKnits

You are right!! This was an issue I had as the cable row I needed to end on and the length I was told to end on did not match up. I’m curious to see how it will look with a little more length until the arms too!!

Did you see from her latest podcast that Veronica Lindberg has a knitting book coming out this fall? It looks like there’s going to be some wonderful new patterns. Your Sailor Swift looks so good, now I really want to knit one too! I also like your idea of always having a tank top on your needles. I am NOT. A sock knitter, and I like having a hat on the go, but a tank makes more sense where I live.

Hi Nora. My only question is, with the shoulder and sleeve sitting so low on your arms will you have enough length on the arms to make that large bell or bat wing at the bottom of the wrist. The sweater is beautiful
