The STO Ship Database is also a help. It requires a little knowledge before hand, but helps if you know what frame you want, but don't know what ship fits the bill.
I audibly CHEERED once you got to the Demo Launcher and went "IT'S MY BOY!!" It's probably half the reason I love this game so much - I use it all the time and it's amazing for giving my ships and characters life as I'm writing backstories, historical files, logs, everything. The graphic design nerd in me gets so happy every time I use it and I'm so glad STO encourages this 🖖
Might I also recommend the ship finder tool? It allows you to search through the ships in the game by number of weapons, console slots, mastery packages, and more. You can even search by specific abilities, so you can see which ships are capable of running CSV3 and GW1 together, for example.
@@MultiverseEmperor yup! The one I'm thinking of was made by fleffle of the STO subreddit, and it has so many helpful filters on it. I don't think TH-cam will let me leave a direct link, but if you go to the subreddit and use the search, you should be able to find it.
Thank you for this! As a returning player, the acronyms/initialisms kill me. I know most of the ones from a few years ago, but there are a lot of new ones that seem to be pretty common now and googling wasn't always very helpful.
My only issue with the current STO wiki is they didn't transfer over the uniform guides properly, unfortunately, the Fandom one hasn't been updated with the new color swatches for badges and rank pips
Key binds allows you to do priority ability management. So that one ability happens before another. But can't key bind so it doesn't work that way on consoles
Hey Stu, you gave an excellent tip on your EPG video about slotting the V.A.Q. module along with the Cutting Beam module. (Wow! thanks for that one!) Do you happen to know if the Quantum Warhead module that comes off the Galaxy Cruiser variants works the same way? It only fires 6 shots instead of 12, but builds up the same way, I just wondered if you knew right off hand if it works with the Cutting Beam module too. If it does, wow. Awesome, informative vids, man. Much appreciated!
The Quantum Warhead Module does work similar, in that it builds up stackable charges and you can fire it off no matter how many charges it haves. But the reason no one uses the QWM is that it also has a shared cooldown with your actual torpedoes, so using it on a build that has a torpedo on it can actually be problematic for your firing rate.
useful information, good to know. thank you for sharing. any idea how to get in contact with the VGER staff? most of what is listed on the Acronyms page are initialisms, with only a handful of actual acronyms. it's a glaring misnomer that could be completely corrected simply by renaming that page Abbreviations.
That'd be nice if the devs added plasma caster and cannon weaponry to Star Trek Online and what I'm talking about is the Predator's weapons but that'd probably be copyright infringement
Thats early in the episode Sunrise. It's one of my favorite places to take screenshots. The image i used for this video's thumbnail was also taken in that map.
Most torpedos only fire within their firing arcs. Most have a 90 degree arc, a few have a wider 180 degree arc. There are targetable torpedoes that technically lock on to a target an keep traveling once fired. These are usually heavy, slow torpedo, like Tricobalt or Plasma torpedoes under the effect of Torpedo High Yeild. I wouldn't normally rely on these though; they're called targetable torpedoes because, unlock normal torps, they can be targeted and destroyed by enemies. They're also very slow, so their overall DPS is usually rather poor. There is an old console that technically turns your torpedo into a homing torpedo when activated. It's modeled after that one scene in Star Trek VI, comes from the tier 2 Exeter (which can be purchased with Dilithium), but really isn't a good console, I wouldn't recommend it.
i keep getting invites to the gold DPS league channel, i later learned that someone in what ever tfo was using these. I'm not really that interested in joining t he DPS league, I'm usually very private on STO running a private fleet. is there anyway to prevent these invites if i use the combat reader?
I need to save the text speak one haha me and short hand do not get alongive never followed DPS as yeah I don't really care haha I can run advanced perfectly fine so that's all I need. I've also never used anything with the key binds. But that involves me not caring about that haha
can any one help with the DemoLauncher ? where to put the files and how to run it ? i found out how to record and watch through the launcher of the game...

Has been 12 y now since i start playing this game, I'm just a casual player but now i found out about VGER and Demo, tx for the video.
Best video I’ve watched on the Tube today
Gotta give love to the people who worked hard to make the wiki great ❤️
SETS is a really good build planner and Trinity is a good tool to calculate expected damage before parsing
SETS?

Stu thank you for this video I needed an updated one. Thank you.
Ok that "Save UI" thing for keybinds is going to make my life so much easier, thank you!!!
For combat readers I still use ACT. Advanced Combat Tracker.
STO Keybind video soon please. Most videos I found are all macros through a 3rd party software.
Technically STO Keybinds is still 3rd party software, it just allows you to set up an in-game feature more easily.
@@Stu1701 It is a core feature that I have not seen discussed. I have been looking for something like this.

Thanks for the info Stu!
The wiki is legit.
Someone deserves an award for the visual glossary alone.

What system were you in for the Demorecord part at 13:30? looks rather beautiful.

One thing the game needs is something to optimize the Exchange like WoWs auctioneers.
Hey @Stu1701 do you happen to know if the character editor tool has been uploaded anywhere else now that STO Academy is gone?
Great video but, No mention of the C.P.A. for console users? It's made me start chasing DPS
Great info!
I’m new to STO, are there homing torpedoes or do all torpedoes just fire straight?

Is there anything for console players to help them with DPS information like OSCAR?
not that i know of
