Those who are critical and expressed opinions as to teaching them where they belong in the pecking order - Tristan is a very effective trainer and rider. His methods work.

Very sweet horse and rider, they make a lovely team and seem to learn things very quickly. I wish them lots of success for their future goals. And the second horse also was so chilled and obedient and gentle, I wish there were more trainers like this. In the average barns where I live, they will put you on horses that don't have their groundwork sorted and that have all kinds of unfixed issues and even the riding instructors don't notice or correct them, they just employ more and more "mechanical" solutions, e.g. if a horse wouldn't stand still for tacking or at the mounting block they would just hold it with more people. I became very sad with that approach and as a consequence stopped taking riding lessons, although I wanted to learn it so bad :-(. But at least I can watch people and their horses doing things differently on channels like this one :-) thank you.

I think a more accurate way to describe this isn’t that the mare gets scared of other horses. I feel like it’s more of a focus problem. It’s easy for her to get distracted and anxious when there’s a lot going on in her environment.
That’s how I’d describe the situation with a spirited gelding I ride. He can be with other horses just fine , but he’s prone to acting out if he gets irritated, distracted, and I fail at refocusing him.

I do think this video is helpful . The rider did mention she trains alone so your solution does get to the heart of the issue. She just needs to know that she can focus and work even with other distractions in the environment.
I’m just hoping that over time as the gelding gets used to me he’ll be less prone to acting out .

5 years old. Eventing. Perhaps she is getting asked too much for such a young horse?

I see you have dogs. Does your training adapt to them too?

The camera person did a good job, except for getting the focus right some of the time.

Yes he gets results, but there’s no need for the fancy theories. It obfuscates the problem. Notice he does some assertive controlling movement, that’s what got results. The mare just needed an attitude adjustment and could have been sorted out in about two seconds flat. But this would not be good marketing

Sounds like you want to stick to telling the horse off for any wrongdoing. And at what point did you noticed any attitude problem in that horse - I don`t know - the mare seems easy going - her problem is that she gets scared of other horses. To me she needs a boost of calm confidence rather than attitude adjustment. And he is going through exercises that are explaining to the horse how he wants her to respond to things, so they can be used later with 100% reliability. I took time to watch all the videos.

What bunch of nonsense about tensions. The horse needs a lesson in her place in the pecking order.

Daniel Thomas it's obviously not nonsense when he gets such good results. There are many ways to approach horse training to get success, this is his focus. It's calm and subtle.
