I'd have to say Alfred Sargent are my favourite RTW factory made Goodyear welted shoes! I have 2 pairs AS boots and 1 pair of AS shoes. A fitting tribute to a fine shoe brand. May Paul Sargent be successful. Tony
Superb episode, thanks John. Your collection is absolutely amazing…and you describe these shoes impeccably. Regarding your lacing fubar, your over was under…and you under was over! Your unique sartorial individuality is on full display. Again, superb!
I have a pair of Bowens shoes that I believe were made by AS. They are split toed loafers in black, sometimes referred to as typically English style loafers ( aka wildsmith/Windsor?). They are smart, comfortable and maybe my only loafers I would wear with a grey business suit.
You'll find that no shoe is waterproof because they have those big holes where your feet go :-) and water will always splash over the top or run down your trousers even if you avoid deeper puddles. Sorry, I know that you were referring to the construction but I get triggered whenever I hear shoes and waterproof mentioned together :-) (especially so if Goretex is also mentioned). Anyway, I recently bought a sale pair of Alfred Sargent Boston with the Commando sole as I wanted to try the brand. I haven't actually worn them in anger yet but they are heavy and sturdy and feel as though they can take a beating. They also have six eyelets which is a little quirky for a UK shoe.
I found this great video while trying to find information on Sargent's 109 last as I like the look of their black cap toe Armfield. Having a slim ankle and a rather narrow heel, I am afraid 109 could be too roomy, especially in the heel area. Could you tell me how 109 fits compared with C&J's 325 and 341? Both fit me quite well, although they are better with thicker socks, as their heels are a bit wider than I need, particularly 325. As black cap toes like Armfield should not be worn with thicker socks, I am worried that they would be too wide in the heel and ankle areas if that is where 109 are wider than C&J's 325 and 341. Very grateful for any advice.
@@wishoeguy Thanks a lot. I ordered Armfield a few days ago and will see how it fits. I may need heel grips and/or tongue pads, but the price was good and I thought it is worth trying.

Great job on being able to find Moores in brown! I'd love a pair of Cherrys but cant find anywhere!

I find the fit very similar to 325 especially in the heel.

Is the suede Italian or English? Repello or Janus?
I believe it’s Janus, which is a CF Stead suede so it’s English.
the lacings on the closest to the toe are mismatched
Right you are!
@@wishoeguy new Paul Sargent website seems to only list 3 available models ?
Correct. The others are coming. If you’re looking for something specific email Sales@paulsargent.com.
