    This has been one of my favorite pieces since I first heard Jellyroll on vinyl, and this is a fantastic interpretation! Kudos, Ms. Park! There shouldn't be empty seats in your audience.

    Great job! The mildly surprising thing is, for such a famously difficult show-off piece, how many fine performances exist--- Dick Hyman, Butch Thompson, Stephanie Trick, Morton Gunnar Larson, and Ms. Park's virtuoso turn... to name a few. It seems there is no shortage of abundantly skilled pianists re-exploring the world of ragtime, novelty piano and early jazz these days.

      Damned good performance here, but c'mon, does anybody really beat Dick Hyman's version?

      @@clintgillespie8579 If you're a pianist, you should have caught her numerous flaws, comparative lack of dynamic contrasts, and re-arranging of a few of the more difficult parts. Everybody's got their own opinion, of course. I play the piece, but sorta suck at it.

    One point about this kind of music or boogie woogie is that it's just so much fun and so satisfying to play!

    Very well done. Ive enjoyed your playing for several years now and did enjoy this 2017 taping. This is one of my favorite pieces. An old friend Jim Hession is on TH-cam at Fritzel's in New Orleans with his own take. But I like yours too.

    WOW! just WOW! Until now I haven't heard anybody come remotely close to Dick Hyman's rendition of this wonderful piece, and whilst nobody will ever come close to that this stands out as the second best performance by a considerable margin. Great playing and interpretation 😀🎹

      That might be the reason for the applause. Maybe the audience just wants to participate in the performance, though. That deft button pushing is kind of exciting.

    • @razakza
      @razakza 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just did and I see what you mean. He really delivers the piece, and he doesn't "supplement" the music by loudly tapping his feet either, (so as to maintain a backing beat). It's just him and that piano.
      Thanks, that was a useful and enjoyable lead you suggested.

      Ok, I'll give you that though as a musician I find it hard to digest. My instrument is the classical guitar, and I would never attend recitals by performers who found it necessary to stomp their feet along to the music. It takes away from the actual music for me.
