- Discovering Alaska's Russian history in Ninilchik, Alaska which was settled by Russian colonists in 1847. We explore the grounds of Ninilchik's Russian Orthodox Church. 50 minutes south of Ninilchik, we arrived in Homer, Alaska. We walk the Homer spit and try halibut for the first time🤤
Have you ever tried halibut? If you enjoyed the video, please give it a "like". Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already, we'd love to have you! Have a great week!!

Yep. That was back in 1988. 65 below zero. It was so windy the snow was hitting me sidewards. Lol
That’s insane I just can’t imagine how anyone can survive in those conditions 😳😅
Были возле этой церкви в июне 2023. Ощущения - трудно передать словами... Поразили свежие могилы с русскими фамилиями. Вечность!
this is so exciting to see- I love ninilchik! I have a cabin there- and seeing the drone shot of the beach is insane.
That’s so cool! Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! 😊
@@NickandJulie Thank you! If you're ever in the Eagle River/Chugiak area, lmk! I have recommendedations😎
Why do you mispronounce it as Ninilchooook? We live here in Alaska. It’s called Ninilchik, and pronounced Ninilchik, ending like “chick.” NOBODY pronounces it here the way you do. How would you like us to go to your home and rudely mispronounce your hometown’s name? Is this how you visit other places and have no regard for the locals?
Simply didn’t see the I there. Thought it was a U until after the video. How would you like to be skewered on the internet for mispronouncing one letter?
Just curious. Did you actually talk to anyone in town, or did you do a hit and run drone and video session and drive to Homer? If you talked to anyone about the town, and got the rich history you recant from a local, you would have never mispronounced it…been in the TV for decades on both sides of the camera: You were not skewered…😂
@@5AcresandaMoose it’ll be okay if someone with a few thousand views on a small channel on TH-cam accidentally mispronounced the town name. Love the dichotomy of how one commenter is excited to see their town on TH-cam and another is really offended that one letter was mispronounced 😆
@NickandJulie Don't worry about it--You'll do better next time. 😊
@@5AcresandaMoose I grew up in Ninilchik. I remember outsiders calling it nickle chick!
The drone shots are awesome. Homer looks like an awesome place to visit. The fries are just like the ones we get with walleye and perch at The Jolly Roger in Port Clinton, Ohio. Imagine settling a place and a few years later you're sold to another country.
Thank you! The coastal towns in Alaska are just stunning. We’ll have to try Jolly Roger then next time we’re up there! I bet they were worried about the unknowns at the time and what it would mean for them. but in this case being sold to another country was an upgrade for them.
Glad your back and I love your videos. Excellent work.
Thank you very much! 😃
🎉You guy are awesome thank You for sharing 🎉
😄😄😄 thank you! We appreciate you watching our videos and taking the time to comment! 😃
I was stationed on a little island out in the Bering Sea so I never got to experience the mainland.
That’s an awesome experience too. Were you there during winter too?
Are y'all planning to stay in Alaska for the winter?
we’re actually already in the lower 48. Just behind on posting since these videos take some work. We’ll probably be posting Alaska videos until the new year!
Homer looks like a COOL place to visit. Always great to try different cuisine in new places!
Oh yea especially those halibut fish and chips one of our favorite meals we had in Alaska 🤤
It is a great place!
All I can say is beautiful.
Isn’t it? 🤩 Alaskan coastal towns are something else!
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
