      It’s so expensive tho.
      My surgeon wants 60 grand to help me. Like how can anyone afford that??

      Believe me I understand. Unfortunately you will need them pulled and get dentures. That is what I am doing. The most important thing is getting the bad teeth pulled. Before the infection spreads. As it did in my case. It spread to bone and killed healthy neighboring teeth. Which resulted in tooth loss.

    dental bridges seem like a good option but to shave down the surrounding teeth to attach the bridge seem scary.

    • @angelaschaefer5883

      They are good option and my dental insurance at the time. Which was fourteen years ago covered it. I didn’t have any problems. It was infection in the tooth anchoring the bridge. That spread to healthy teeth being killed by infection. My teeth were all pulled few months ago. It didn’t have anything to do with the bridge. My bone health is fine where the bridge was. It is the rest of my mouth where bone loss is problem. It felt just like having my natural teeth.

    I'm trying to get a one tooth extraction and replacement for a lower molar. Like the idea of removal appliance. For one tooth. Don't like bridges or implants. Thanks for video

    thanks for this fantastic explanation of a topic that is surrounded by wives' tales and myths. I subscribed today. My #14 molar needs to be removed as it isn't a candidate for root canal. there is no pain as the infection has made it's way out via a fistula, no build up of pressure at the roots. After a CT scan, my dentist showed me where the ligament is missing and the tooth is being absorbed by my body. If the bone is good, I'm 73 , non smoker, non diabetic with good dental hygiene , I will opt for an implant, otherwise a bridge as the teeth beside are well. Thanks Dr. Langston

    My tooth in the bottom front was a root canal and had a crack in the tooth. It got infected and abscess. That is why I’m doing a implant in the front to remove the two root canals. To put in 1 implants with 2 teeth on it. It’s because I have tiny teeth. My dentist had to remove 2 teeth to get 1 implant in. There wasn’t enough space for the implant just remove 1 tooth

    Thank you for this video, I damaged my 2 front teeth as a kid and they finally fell out in April this year.
    Tomorrow I go back for the next stage of implants which is having the titanium screws placed.
    I am nervous! But your video seems to state that I have got the best option.
    I'm worried they won't last.
    In your opinion (I know it's case by case) how long are implants likely to last at the front in a healthy 33 year old with good bone structure in the gum

    Do you have a video on how to clean a dental bridge?

    • @angelaschaefer5883
      @angelaschaefer5883 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That part I can tell you how to clean it. You need water pik. There is space between the bridge and your gums. Other people can’t see it. But when you brush your teeth. You will see it. Take the water pik and put it in that space. This will get rid of any food that is caught in there. I had mine for 14 years with no problems. The rest of my teeth were the problem. I hope that helps you.

    My dentist is pushing implants on me real hard. Your video just made me realise there is also the (flexible) removable option, which I like because I don`t like the idea of a bridge or implant in my mouth. My dentists portrays implants like they are a piece of cake, and I know they are not.

    I'm a 25 year old female with a missing tooth (5), that I lost more than 10 years ago. I remember that the dentist put something im that gap but it fell off. Afterwards I have done nothing since my parents were uninterested and had their own stuff to deal with not my teeth so I just left it like that. Eventually when I started to notice it again it was too late, my teeth moved and now I don't have no space and no bone for the implant. The only option is a dental bridge now and I'm scared to screw up my other teeth. The thing is the missing tooth is not that visible but its affecting my confidence. I don't know what to do

      i’m a dental hygienist and would recommend either leave it alone…don’t worry no one will notice. Or you could have the dentist lab make an acrylic removable tooth for you. I’ve had one for 15 years it works just fine! No need for implant there.

    • @mariav1234
      @mariav1234 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Leave it alone, since a bridge will damage the neighboring teeth since they have to be shaved down. I wish I had never done a bridge because I ended up missing the supporting teeth because of the bridge.

      Dentures are between $400-$5000. Implants are between $25,000-$80,000. I am getting dentures and 99% of us will have dentures. Unless you have a lot of money and can see dentist every six months for cleanings. Implants are not good option.

    My main question about implants is how traumatic is the procedure? Are you just shoving a screw like thing into the gums? This seems very painful. After all, the tooth has just been pulled. Your body has been in a process of healing for a couple of months, then it seems like another injury is happening. Please explain how the body responds to this. I am a little fearful.

    • @marymacdonald2379
      @marymacdonald2379 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is fine. You go to a recommended periodontist; they have excellent pain management for the procedures--sign up for the laughing gas for extra relaxation. The periodontist will place bone graft material at the time the tooth is pulled.

    • @392_RHINO
      @392_RHINO ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mary Macdonald what about the pain after the procedure? How much pain will I be in when I get home and I'm crying in my sleep

    • @marymacdonald2379
      @marymacdonald2379 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@392_RHINO I had a prescription for narcotic pain killer and only took it for a day or two, then nothing--not even over the counter meds. In addition to the usual numbing by the periodontist, I had laughing gas during the procedure.

    • @marymacdonald2379
      @marymacdonald2379 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@392_RHINO Back to a part of your original question --placing of bone graft right after tooth extraction is followed by three or four months of healing. Then the implant base is screwed into the bone, followed by more months of healing (bone adheres completely to base and gum heals). Then the crown gets made and installed by your regular dentist.

    Bridges by time cause gum recession , because there is no force or *screw, roots * on the jaw bone
