Roy Orbison I had the privilege to see in 1963/4 on The Beatles tour in Manchester, UK. The GENTLEMAN of Rock n Roll. Such tragedies he had in his life to die of a heart attack at age 57yrs.
The greatest singer there ever was. He was just so brilliant. And what a nice bloke. There could never be another Roy Orbison ever. I never tire of his voice. I could listen to him all day.

I have to say that in the recording studio they have all the equipment to make the songs sound perfect, and I saw many live concerts and of course they were exciting but the recordings naturally sounded better except for one, And that was Roy Orbison !! I saw him at the "Circle Star Theatre" in San Carlos California, all the seats are close to the stage, I watched and listened. It was unbelievable !! He sounded better live than his recordings !! and when he was singing there was not a sound from anyone everyone seemed spellbound but after each song the applause was deafening !! Every song was perfect and what an experience !!!
I saw Roy twice in UK at Ipswich, 1982 I was in the second row, and again in 1985. My experience was the same as yours. Amazing, it was as if the audience was spellbound, you could have heard a pin drop, until the end of his songs! My abiding experience was at the end of the shows, the tremendous cheering and applause Roy received and as we shuffled out of the theatre, it was as if people were shellshocked and speechless at what they had seen. What a legend.
