    I think KD was very honored to sing with Roy Orbison, and she was especially honored by the family after his death to sing at his funeral. She’s a beautiful singer a beautiful heart, a beautiful soul.

    An awkward interview, on Jay's part, but these two were absolute powerhouses when performing together. I mean, solo they're magical, but together they were gifts to us all. ❤ Thank you Roy Orbison and KD Lang.

    You just watched two of the greatest singers in the past 75 years, hands down. I saw Roy 4 months before he died and when he finished Running Scared, instead of clapping, the audience just stood there with their mouths open. Me, too. It was nothing short of mezmerising.

    I am worshipful towards these two immortal talents and it was great to hear them chatting even if it was as all mainstream TV at the time, criminally brief. Leno was clueless - a workaholic and hard chaser of fame and fortune, he had never taken the time to know them as artists and didn't prep nearly enough - and apparently not at all for K.D. She was many years into her great career - an established star and beyond critically acclaimed singer and recording artist, but nobody told Jay.

Only 5 words for him to say when the performance was over: "That was so fucking beautiful" And it really was - a true perfect match of one of the greatest pop songs ever written performed by the finest male and female voices. But Leno's reaction was by rote as if he had not experienced the performance when he should have been blown away.

    So many complaints about Leno. I agree, but to talk of him takes away from the talent.
    Orbison CHOSE her; he wouldn't have just sung it with anyone. He would have kept singing it himself; no need for a backup or duet. He owned that song, and he shared it with one person- her. Both humble, mutual respect. K.D. was in awe of him but not so much that she was afraid to sing with him. They made a perfect pair.

      But still far better than David Letterman's one and a half minute interview with Orbison, which went like this: (1) The town you grew up in, what is it like now? (45 seconds). (2) You wanted to be a geologist when you were a kid. (3) It was an oil area, did your dad work in the oil business? (4) What was it like to tour with the Beatles? (Followed by more questions about the Beatles). (5) Get lost now, I have to interview Bob Saget.

    Roy Orbison KD Lang Archer the greatest entertainers that ever have been or ever will be. I had the honor of meeting Roy Orbison in Nashville outside there's that one that recording studios that guy that I was dating and living with at the time that I met us another story met him I had no idea that I was going to meet him all of a sudden you're I am meeting Roy Orbison and I'm having that like it's the most natural thing in the world well I pulled it off he said that I passed the test whatever that Matt don't know never did ask and I never did find out but it was just it was very spiritual I was just like electricity was I don't know how to explain it never can but those those are my memories and I'll always have those memories. I would love to meet Katie Lane that will never happened in my lifetime and then that's okay but if I was my feelings of Katie line is I think she's a very spiritual her son and you don't get those many feelings about singers maybe Tony Bennett oh yeah who would love to meet him but they are really good people at least I want to believe that they are and I don't want to be disillusioned with anything that's why you and I don't pick up tabloid I don't need that job because I know everything's embellished and they're all lies that that's why my life story I'm 74 and I worked in the club's when I was very young so there for you I was introduced to a lot of people and I was with the luckiest people in the world to get to know the stars that I've no as a child I was raised in an orphanage from the age of five until I aged out every holiday there was always stars coming out to the home entertaining this kids I have met so many stars I don't have a clue who they were and when I would grow up and I got out on my own and I would hear them on the radio I said all that's who I met that's who that was is really a small world and just have experienced that in my lifetime that's good enough for me lights camera action.

    watching this interview reminds me why I could never figure out how he managed to land a job doing this for a living. Dolt. Condescending in manner. Didn't turn on the tonight show during his entire tenure .....

    That was probably the worst "INTERVIEW" ever. Leno totally ignored her and stunning performance other than to acknowledge Canada was a "town" and try to disparage her "accent" when his own nasally drivel went on and on.

    Look at roy orbison at the letterman interview 1988 and his last interview he was known for yoyo dieting eating alot of fatty/fried food drinking alot of soda when being away from the stage then eating only healthy food in order to lose weight when appearing on stage plus that he was a heavy smoker that alone is dangerous for the heart no wonder why he died at 52 from a heart attack.

    • @georgebuck2269
      @georgebuck2269 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, everyone I knew that smoked died a long time ago. I'm talking sixties and seventies. They had heart disease first and cancer second. George Harrison comes to mind.
