55:12 It's actually the opposite, as there's T.Masuda discovering the Zohar, Ormus being in possession of the Zohar after Earth vanished and an entire Xenosaga game (A Missing Year) dedicated to Grimoire Verum, the man who destroyed Lost Jerusalem in Saga (which directly contradicts the events of Klaus' Experiment) , while Takahashi confirmed in 2020 that even Xenoblade X is part of the flow of a larger space and time, just like every future Xenoblade game, and both FC and FR includes references to X (which I presume it was a glimpse of the future before Takahashi and Monolith were able to move on). This is an interesting way to look at it. While I do believe the Saga references mean something (there would be no reason reach out to Bandai just for a reference) along with a interview Takahashi did long back saying he would continue the Saga story given the proper funding. Xenoblade X could possibly be apart of canon due to the references but it doesn't really fit at all at the moment. Saga has contradictions like you said to but I feel like there's more wiggle room than X currently at the moment.

@iviyohane I have similar thoughts about X just being in the same universe as the mainline games. It being another Recurrence is the best way it can connect without it being messy. Now, what happens to the world after Xenosaga 3 is up to speculation. Gnosis could reincarnate there, maybe due to Origin presumably still being there and recording data. But I'm pretty sure KOS-MOS Re: is non-canon with it being a cool nod to saga, but I could be wrong. Who knows. But Thanks for having this conversation, its quite insightful 😁
I'm not sure how T. Masuda discovering the Zohar conflicts with Xenoblade. In all three franchises, the Zohar was discovered in Africa near the beginning of the 21st century. No contradiction there. From Saga, we know that it was then brought to Canada where Grimoire Verum conducted experiments on it to save his daughter, but instead the experiments lead to the disappearance of his daughter due to a space-time warp. From Xenoblade we learn that because of this the experiments were deemed to being too dangerous and instead Rhadamanthus was built as a safer location for the experiments in space. Xenosaga's lore goes a bit further that these experiments eventually led to the whole earth disappearing. This is perfectly in line with the Klaus experiment. I've replayed the fan translation of a Missing Year yesterday and even the wording we find in-game, which is also a part of a report thousands of years later by an unreliable narrator and contains information which conflicts with something we learn later in Xenosaga episode III, does not conflict with Xenoblade and the Klaus experiments. The only thing that conflicts with Xenoblade and explicitly says the Grimoire's experiment is responsible for losing Earth are Wiki entries, written by fans more than 15 years ago before Xenoblade's release. You shouldn't blindly just believe these things, but only refer to information from the games instead. The same is true for Dimitri Yuriev from Xenosaga and his unknown age. From Xenosaga we only know that he must have lived for at least a hundred years, but likely longer and that he is a body hopper who got this power from a contact with the Zohar, which is also where he got into contact with the Wave Existence (U-DO) and why he has his fear. It is very similar to hgow Grahf got the same power in Xenogears. He has more knowledge about the List Jerusalem era than most and with the added info from Xenoblade that he actually lived since the Lost Jerusalem era, it makes a lot more sense. The existence of Dimitri Yuriev and the founding of the Salvatore faction in Klaus's world or the Lost Jerusalem era in Xenoblade does not contradict Xenosaga, but actually enhances Xenosaga's lore. (Same goes for Vector, btw., which we already knew existed since the Lost Jerusalem era as a tech-company already) Edit: I just found confirmation that Dimitri Yuriev is in fact thousands of years old and was born during the Lost Jerusalem era. It was just hard to put together. In episode III Sellers says ""A large number of designer children were created for the life transfer experiments of organic beings during the early stages of the UMN. Dimitri Yuriev was one of them. That man was the original Salvator." That was also the dialog where we learn that he made contact to U-DO during that and got his Grahf power. What is interesting is how long ago that was, because the UMN started construction during the Lost Jerusalem era as well. We know that because Grimoire Verum who started the Zohar connection experiments with his daughter (which Klaus eventually uses to phase-shift Earth) was able to survive until a Missing Year between Xenosaga episodes II and III inside the UMN. I really don't understand why people are throwing around all these false information without double-checking anything. I am very late to this discussion, because I just finished Future Redeemed a couple days ago and didn't want to spoil myself. But I kept reading so much misinformation these past few days, mostly based on wrong or incomplete information from fan-written wikis. But while connecting Xenosaga to Xenoblade is very easy with no retcons at all, it is very difficult to do the same with Xenoblade X, at least in the era where X fans want it to be. But it is not impossible and I would even argue that you *need* the Xenosaga connection to make it work properly. Without it, you need something like the "Two Earths" theory which is just ludicrous imo. And there is no supporting fact in Xenoblade's lore to support that. But with Blade being in Saga's shared lore it is easy. After Xenogears the universe was at risk of being destroyed according to Perfect Works. No one knows how exactly, but we do know from Xenosaga that Wilhelm found a way restart the lower domain and return time to the beginning. This started the eternal recurrence. Xenoblade and Xenosaga both take place in the latest cycle of that eternal recurrence which was finally ended by the Xenosaga party. In each cycle, Wilhelm needed to do a bunch of very specific things for it all to work. One of these factors was sealing off Earth after humanity was advanced enough to leave earth. In the latest cycle, he achived that through Klaus' experiment which put earth into a pocked dimension. It is very likely that in another cycle he used aliens to destroy Earth, which we see in Xenoblade X. If often hear that aliens do not exist in Xenosaga's universe, but that is either not true or can't be known. Xenosaga's universe is based on Xenogears' universe where we know that aliens exist. (Alien plants, animals and even Chu-Chus, which are intelligent) The universe is inconceivably large. So large that multiple intelligent species could explore and colonize it for thousands of years and never meet each other. Or if we stumbled over an alien civilization, it's most likely just ruins from thousands or million of years ago. But at least in one cycle, Wilhelm used alien cultures to destroy Earth and where Project Exodus was a means to rescue humanity in one cycle, it was a peaceful venture in another.
Amazing video. I loved the affinity growth system so much, it's easily my favourite Xeno gameplay in the series. This is the first time I've ever done side content before the end game. It was a struggle to progress the story.
I've been an on-and-off Xeno fan since Xenosaga but I've never been able to play many of its games all the way through due to distractions, outside of Xenosaga 1. The absolute gift that Future Redeemed was for Xenogear, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade fans makes me smile uncontrollably. Rarely do you get this sort of celebration from devs to their dedicated fans. I'm happy to be part of that fandom even though I'm a been a bit of a delinquent. The huge blowup of the returning cast makes me look forward for my eventual (hopefully) playthrough. And goddamn, Rex, all three?????
Easily the greatest JRPG series in recent memory and I cannot wait for more. The world building, characters, music and gameplay is simply incredible in all main Xenoblade games with their top tier DLC expansions. Xenoblade has become one of my all-time fav gaming series along with Monolith Soft as my personal No 1 dev team :-)
I thought about it recently cause people argued the special thanks for Bandai Namco were probably for the Vector Industries logo but this logo was already present in Xenoblade 2 during KOS-MOS' awakening cutscene so it can't be due to that. This means there is almost certainly something deeper behind all of this. We'll have to wait for now.
I think xenoblade has taken over as my favourite franchise of all time. It was zelda. This series just makes me feel feels. Its so good. Ive been trying to het my friends to play these games for years with no avail. They are oblivious to what they're missing!
Top notch video and recall to FR and all xenoblade games! The narration was spot on and the analysis was great! My only gripe about FR was it's lack of new game+. Hopefully they make an update in the future. Still, an amazing game! Certainly one of the best!
Amazing quality! The video is so well organized, filled with fun facts, great clips that match what’s spoken of. You can tell this video had lots of care when being put together
Alpha, the Divine End reminded me of Zanza the Divine from Xenoblade 1, which is still one of my favorite final boss themes ever. So hearing a similar track, really got me pumped for the boss of FR
Awesome video, I really loved it. Xenosaga has my favorite story and characters from any medium, so seeing these huge Saga connections at the end of Future Redeemed was one of the greatest moments I ever had in a video game, and I honestly couldn't really believe it at first. I'm really excited about the future of Xenoblade and interested in seeing what's coming next. Would be awesome if the next games went more in the direction of Xenosaga. At least, I really want to have a space opera again. There aren't really any games like Xenosaga besides itself, so it would be nice if we could get something like it again. For Xenosaga I think it wouldn't be that hard at all to directly connect it with Xenoblade, all those contradictions are not really major, and for the most part, you would just need to add more lore to it. The endings of Xenosaga Episode III and Future Redeemed just line up perfectly, and I don't think it would make any sense if this blue light is anything but KOS-MOS. At least, imo all the Saga stuff has to mean something. Why else would they then use the Vector logo for the radio and mention Dmitri Yuriev? For Xenoblade X, I think it would be best if it wasn't at all connected to Xenoblade or Xenosaga, it's so different, and I don't think it would work very well, and imo there wouldn't be any benefit from it. With connecting Saga to the Blade trilogy, you could finally tell the next 2 arcs of Xenosaga and maybe finish its story. But they can just easily continue Xenoblade X without connecting it to the main series and making it unneccesary complicated. It would also be nice if Soraya Saga could return to the series, at least it would feel wrong, imo if they would connect Xenosaga to Blade and not have her back again. Hope that we'll also get Xenosaga Remasters or even Remakes soon so that more people can experience these incredible games. Of course, it isn't confirmed that Xenosaga is connected to Xenoblade, but with all that we have seen, it's very likely that Xenosaga is, in some form, the future of Xenoblade and that makes me really excited about the future. The ending of the video made me honestly cry a bit again. Seeing those cutscenes from Xenosaga and Gears again with Future Awaits was really heartwarming and great. Hope to see more of this great content in the future! :D
Actually Riku can be the son of either Kino or Riki, since he only says his dadapon traveled with Melia, which both did. But I think Kino being his dad makes more sense
51:02 I‘m not sure there was a mistranslation, I have read the blog and seen the video, that claims, that there was, but that one has a pretty bad misinterpretation of the official translation, which cascades into the entire scene not making sense, which is not helped, by pairing the english translation with the japanese dub, robbing it of context, all of this makes hurts the credibility. Though ironically it does show their point how easily one mistake can cascade, by doing exactly that mistake with their interpretation of the official translation. The critical error here is the interpretation of the sentence: „You don‘t need to know. The burden is … mine alone to bear.“, as Mio having agreed with N, instead of what it actually means: N never having told Mio and is never going to, because its his burden alone. Also, this „corrected“ translation implies, M would have sided with Alpha. Which would be an interesting detail, but it does make just as much sense, as Ghondor understanding the situation and telling N, that Mio would want N to move on, but he knows, N can‘t. Thinking about it, if the one who can‘t let go of the past is N or Ghondor, doesn‘t make that much of a difference.
Damn, that final credit sequence you made deserves all the praise and more, with certain scenes linking up with the lyrics (it doesn't matter if we fail and showing the torna final scene) while showing how the song is important narratively and meta-narratively and the amazing Thank you! at the end. How did future redeemed end up being this singularity of celebrating the past and bringing forth the future while being a prequel with amazing characters music story voice acting and just being a fun video game that's only 20 hrs long but still has me thinking about it 2 months later while some triple AAA games go way longer with way more stuff but I don't think about much more than a week or if I do it isn't fondly I haven't played gears and have only experienced saga vicariously through my brother, but I so hope a remaster/remake comes to modern platforms so I can play and understand the past even more to get ready for the future of the series. Thank you Takahashi! Also just an amazing video can see how you poured your heart into it!
Yeah, the Credit Sequence was one of the first things I worked on for this video. Had to make sure it was just right even after many revisions. I am very glad you enjoyed the video!
@ShiftedPyro 7 months later I finally finished Xenogears, ngl life is busy and the game was just frustrating to play at times (PLATFORMINGNNNNG), But man it was quite a ride, I feel satisfied and I see why people all it one fo the most ambitious games ever made, had my faults with it and will definitely never play it again but I had an amazing journey with it and the groundbreaking story and themes it told. 9/10 hope it gets a remake, and that Takahashi one day gets to make a game where he fully realises his ambitions from start to finish (even though every time he has made to compromise he still makes an amazing game anyway) Also thanks for inspiring me to play all the years later
I would like to push back on Exodus, being a link to Xenoblade X, as Vector had no presence in Xenoblade X, despite them being THE most prevalent tech company in Xenosaga. Especially when Xenosaga had a universal colonization project that bears much more similarity to this. Also, the direct tie to saga in both Dmitri Yuriev and Vector is simply too strong of a link to Xenosaga to possibly ignore. I do personally think that X takes place either way later in the timeline (as Xenoblade 10(X)), or as just a different thing entirely.
Shifted I gotta say from a shitposting channel turning into a indepth and fantastic video essay channel is both impressive and inspiring. Really loved all you your xenoblade retrospetives can't wait for future content!
The answers Future Redeemed gave us initially didn’t satisfy me. However, my playthrough of 3 after Future Redeemed has really shown how purposeful everything was. (Most things). Like knowing the black fog is birthed by the friction of the two worlds colliding makes complete sense in the base game. I remember thinking the Ouroboros time limit was a bit arbitrary, but when you think about how it’s the physical form of matter from the two worlds becoming one…the black fog implosion thing makes sense! (As well as a timer being programmed in so they don’t accidentally blip out of existence).
The overall journey and Noah and his allies also gets way more meaningful afther FR I don't know how to explain this properly but i feel this. Also, N feels even more compelling as an antagonist afther it
Na'el being victim to the curse of being a hero despite literally being playable for a fight really sucks. Getting a 7th new playable character as a reward for beating the game would've been an amazing prize to mess with in the post game of future redeemed. ~ Spoilers, and more complaining, below ~ To rub salt in the wound, the main game prize for beating future redeemed was underwhelming as well. No new class, just two more 7th party slot fillers. There's still a space for a new class in the menu that may never get filled now, given there's no more planned DLC or anything. They could've at least given us the War Mage class in the main game to make up for it not being playable in Future Redeemed, and to fill that last class slot. Then we'd at least be able to mess with Na'els class outside of chain attacking in Future Redeemed. Heck, given how they handled Shulk and Rex as heroes in the main game, they could've added Na'el as a hero in the same way as a way to unlock her class. But, hey. The majority of what we were given was amazingly fun, and I'm still not done with it, so maybe I shouldn't be complaining about how they handled Post Game rewards.
It hasn't been brought up but you putting faces to the voices really did a lot to put over these people who gave stellar performance for this massive portion of the DLC
Its absolutely not impossible to tie this to X. From what i heard its actually more difficult to change things for Saga then for X. They could just say humans thought earth was destroyed but it was actually because of the experiment so they would just need to change earth. And its never stated that the rejoined planet is earth. It could easily be Mira. I would just say make something entirely new ehat also could easily be. I didnt like to watch Videos about Future Reedemed because the people are so often biased towards Saga. From a money perspective X seemes more probably too because of the License
For X, you would have to rewrite basically an entire story to make it work. If the earth was destroyed because of the experiment, what happened to the Ghosts and the Ganglion? You are right that it's never stated that it's earth but it's heavily implied that it is (Zohar found in Africa, and Jupiter in the FR ending) X also does have the advantage of not needing a license or a third-party compared to Saga but the fact that they deliberately went out of their way to go to Bamco for these references when they could've referenced Saga in the same way they did for the Gears reference must have show that they have some weight of importance? In the end, as long as we get more Xeno and its good, I don't care what direction it takes 👍
I’m probably one of the few that didn’t appreciate the references of Xenosaga and X because it feels like Tetsuya Takahashi was tooting his own horn. I see people freaking out about that shooting star at the end being Kos-Mos, but I’m thinking it’s The Conduit again.
My biggest complain about fr is the spoilers Ultra complet interlink. If we take Xenoblade 3 all memories are shared while interlink. And considering Nikol and Glimmer are also part of the interlink with poeple who knows everything... The only real complain is the parents children relation ship. I think it's frustating to know that Rex is Mattew ancestor while no one realized yet. Also no phisical copy. L😓 Outside that I love love futur redemed. I just wished to had more time to play it. I ate all fan service like a big chocolate cake. I want more.
We already know how Noah broke off from N. They're regret. Origin is composed of core crystals, and many years ago one girls wish to stop existing was so strong her core made it so. So why wouldnt the same logic follow ? Its deliberately vauge, with enough implying why, because a story that force feeds you every answer and never invites thought or engaguement with the central themes is always pretty boring.
How they split off I can get behind leaving vague. It really stems with Noah and Mio just being unique individuals within Aionios, but the game really doesn't explain why. It felt like they were dangling a carrot in front of me that I'll never reach. It's definitely the most disappointing aspect of the story to me.
@ShiftedPyro My personal biggest disappointment has nothing to do with hard lore. Lore in this series is rarely ever a complete picture, and as I said, I find it enjoyable to craft the picture myself. No, my biggest disappointment with the story was simply that we never got Rex's input or perspective on Mio effectively being forced into moebius. Felt like there was a rich opportunity there for fantastic character drama that doesn't get taken at all. Before the dlc came out, I wanted to see that and wondered if maybe Rex would have a damn bone to pick towards N for this. If future redeemed were flat out a numbered title and had the scope to account for something like that, I'd have felt the story was offically basically perfect.
Thank you all for watching the video! I hope you all enjoyed it! I poured my heart into it :)

52:15 Well now its confirmed he's Riki's son which was obvious anyway, "Riki" as a name is close enough to "Riku" but its nice to get a confirmation.
Xc3 flexed so hard with the base game and future redeemed releasing earlier than expected
I'm so excited, I loved your A look back XC2 and 3 videos
I thought about it recently cause people argued the special thanks for Bandai Namco were probably for the Vector Industries logo but this logo was already present in Xenoblade 2 during KOS-MOS' awakening cutscene so it can't be due to that. This means there is almost certainly something deeper behind all of this. We'll have to wait for now.
This video was such an amazing watch. Everything was edited so perfectly, and my god, that ending made me tear up. Fantastic job
It's finally out! Thanks for having me on the video! Excited to watch through this video.
"Drive it in! Release the power of Ouroboros!" will forever be badass
I think xenoblade has taken over as my favourite franchise of all time. It was zelda. This series just makes me feel feels. Its so good.
Ive been trying to het my friends to play these games for years with no avail. They are oblivious to what they're missing!
I can see the Pyro upload, clear as day 😎
Fire comment 🔥🔥
Top notch video and recall to FR and all xenoblade games! The narration was spot on and the analysis was great! My only gripe about FR was it's lack of new game+. Hopefully they make an update in the future. Still, an amazing game! Certainly one of the best!
Freaking killed it with the credits, man. Awesome video.
Thank you!! I gave it my all for that section 😁😁
Amazing quality! The video is so well organized, filled with fun facts, great clips that match what’s spoken of. You can tell this video had lots of care when being put together
Thank you! I put a lot of time and care into making it 😁😁 Glad you enjoy the video!
With many unanswered questions and Nikkol and Glimmer only feeling along for the ride, it was short from perfect
The long awaited video has finally been released. Can’t wait to watch this 😎
Alpha, the Divine End reminded me of Zanza the Divine from Xenoblade 1, which is still one of my favorite final boss themes ever. So hearing a similar track, really got me pumped for the boss of FR
Makes sense because Kiyota did both tracks and they're really good
Amazing video! Very in depth! Would love to see your thoughts and theories on where the series could go next!
Why I say Kino due to Riki's Children either being his color or Oka's color with Riku being more close to Kino
@ShiftedPyro Riku could have also been adopted, just like Kino was
Watched the whole thing. Thanks for helping me relive this masterpiece.
Ah I see, interesting to see more insight on this. Sparks alot of discussion 😁😁
Alsp thank you for praising the black mountains theme, it slaps
Damn, that final credit sequence you made deserves all the praise and more, with certain scenes linking up with the lyrics (it doesn't matter if we fail and showing the torna final scene) while showing how the song is important narratively and meta-narratively and the amazing Thank you! at the end.
How did future redeemed end up being this singularity of celebrating the past and bringing forth the future while being a prequel with amazing characters music story voice acting and just being a fun video game that's only 20 hrs long but still has me thinking about it 2 months later while some triple AAA games go way longer with way more stuff but I don't think about much more than a week or if I do it isn't fondly
I haven't played gears and have only experienced saga vicariously through my brother, but I so hope a remaster/remake comes to modern platforms so I can play and understand the past even more to get ready for the future of the series.
Thank you Takahashi!
Also just an amazing video can see how you poured your heart into it!
Yeah, the Credit Sequence was one of the first things I worked on for this video. Had to make sure it was just right even after many revisions. I am very glad you enjoyed the video!
@@ShiftedPyro haha update finally playing xenogears
@danielpratt3794 Awesome!! I hope you enjoy peak!!
9/10 hope it gets a remake, and that Takahashi one day gets to make a game where he fully realises his ambitions from start to finish (even though every time he has made to compromise he still makes an amazing game anyway)
Also thanks for inspiring me to play all the years later
Also love the animations and how it refernces the 3 UI :D
Wow this is amazing! Video like this will keep me alive until the next Xeno game 🥲
has it already been two months since this came out? damn time is flying faster and faster now
IT'S BEEN OUT 2 MONTHS ALREADY? I still haven't played it, damn! But now I at least bought it, I just gotta start playing which I'm scared to do
I wholeheartedly recommend you to play through Future Redeemed. It's on par with Torna. You don't need to be scared.
@@Fyala102 tbh I'm mostly scared my life will be consumed into my switch by it even more than it already is with totk rn lol
@@byrontheusurper6505 The DLC is only 25 hours, so don't worry. Anyway, I hope you have fun with Tears of the Kingdom!
N never actually attacks gondor, and he instantly stops attacking once he hits gondor
I do personally think that X takes place either way later in the timeline (as Xenoblade 10(X)), or as just a different thing entirely.
man. this video was almost if not as amazing as the xeno series. thank you for making this.
22:34 my brother in christ, its pronounce "CHEL-O" 😭❤️
Shifted I gotta say from a shitposting channel turning into a indepth and fantastic video essay channel is both impressive and inspiring. Really loved all you your xenoblade retrospetives can't wait for future content!
Glad to see another banger video for Future Redeemed
Glad to see that you enjoyed it!
A fully realized and completed Xenogears remake would be goated
9:51 "foilage" always makes me laff
Amazing love letter for this awesome trilogy ❤❤ Thank guys
Thank you
The answers Future Redeemed gave us initially didn’t satisfy me.
Holy shit i didnt even think about that last one, that makes so much sense
The overall journey and Noah and his allies also gets way more meaningful afther FR
I don't know how to explain this properly but i feel this. Also, N feels even more compelling as an antagonist afther it
Na'el being victim to the curse of being a hero despite literally being playable for a fight really sucks. Getting a 7th new playable character as a reward for beating the game would've been an amazing prize to mess with in the post game of future redeemed.
~ Spoilers, and more complaining, below ~
To rub salt in the wound, the main game prize for beating future redeemed was underwhelming as well.
God damn it
Thanks for my weekly reminder to continue Xenosaga 😂
Subbed because I thought I already was 😭
I wonder if there are any guest Voice Actors in this video also 🤔
I wonder as well 🤔🤔
Meh meh meh?
It hasn't been brought up but you putting faces to the voices really did a lot to put over these people who gave stellar performance for this massive portion of the DLC
Thanks Monolith (my ass still needs to play xb3 and torna LMAO)
yeah get off yo goofy ass and play
Another masterpiece
Have you…never heard anyone say the word cello before? Chello is how you say it.
I have, it was only until i rewatched it i noticed i said it wrong 😭😭😭
@@ShiftedPyro That’s ok!!! We’ve all been there. I really love your videos.
@28:14 How can Matthew be Rex's great grandson when N's original human form is Matthew's great grandfather (Ghondor's father)?
Oh did I only put great? I thought i put great-great-great grandson (I guess not oops 😅😅)
Man I forgot how good Congregating Lives is
Its absolutely not impossible to tie this to X.
OHH SHITTT
Tomorrow will be a big day
2 months later ain't a retrospective bro that's like me lookin back on breakfast
Had to align it with the content style somehow 🤗🤗
@@ShiftedPyro fair enough homie
Brosef, it's foliage, not foilage. I've heard you say it twice now. Lol. And cello is pronounced "chell-oh".
Words are hard sometimes 😅😅
Dude said nga on a xenoblade youtube video lol 😂
My biggest complain about fr is the spoilers
Ultra complet interlink.
Outside that I love love futur redemed.
