  • 🧠 How are memories generated in the brain?
No one would say that a memory has a physical representation. On the contrary, it is itself an intangible, immaterial thing. And we also know that remembering is based on a physical element: the nervous system. We know this because alterations of the brain can affect memory. These pathological cases indicate that biological matter is necessary for learning and memory to take place, and these depend on the state of this matter that allows different information to be "recorded". The engrams are the "physical traces" left by events in the brain. They are neurons that are often far from each other, which are activated in a "neuronal dance" that links them forever. And we in the laboratory can erase them, or artificially reactivate them and even construct false memories.

*BCN Dance your Science: Let's move science!
The Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) decided to combine dance and science to help the centre's scientific teams explain their research.
In 5 acts, on 21 November, the scientists (and now also dancers) took to the stage of the SAT! (Sant Andreu Teatre) and showed us that science and dance can go hand in hand.
