- It’s walkabout Wednesday! Even though it is February, my bougainvillea is still in bloom. The rest of the garden areas I have been working in are holding up well. Hannah also got busy and made a small arrangement the other day. Life is good in my SoCal garden. Thanks for watching! The love is in the garden merch is back up in the site this month. Your gutters are such eye candy! I'm in Indiana, shoveling out from the snowstorm, and living vicariously thru you and your videos. Frontline healthcare worker who started stress collecting (hoarding) succulents at the beginning of the pandemic. Our cats have recently used my 3 favorite big bowls of succulents as litter boxes. RIP ghosties, sedum adolphi and Lolas! Winter is so bad, even the cats are mad. You and your beautiful plants keep me sane while swabbing noses every day! Thank you, Laura! What is the name of that cactus at 3:20 - the one you picked all the scale off. I have the same one, a cluster of three actually. It flowers that mad in the summer for me! The prettiest large white blooms. The only last a few hours after they open before they start to wilt. I had a two blooms form seed pods this summer for the first time so that was exciting for this kooky succulent gal. 🥴. Love you Laura!

I'm in Australia!! And I'm a Flinders Rangers girl!! Succulents is my middle name!! But I have no idea about variety and what species!! Even in our hot weather they still suffer!! I live in the city so I'm trying too recreate a Flinders Ranges look in my garden!! Not being very successful so far!! But am trying!! LOL!! So this video was very helpful!! Thankyou!!

Hi Laura, can you not use a weed blower to clear your front yard after the Association gardeners come? It may help with the aeoniums when they start dropping leaves too. Or cover up your plants with sheets on the day the gardeners are scheduled to come, then pull the sheet covered with grass cuttings off later.

My alluaudia procera has done its normal winter leaf drop so I’ve been holding off on the water but this year it is looking very puckered/pruning at the tops. Should I start watering again?
Also, I never get to thank you for your content but I love seeing so many of the familiar plants from back home that I grew up seeing in the SoCal landscape for so long. It fills my heart every time and temporarily stops the homesickness I have! So THANK YOU!

Question? What is the name of the succulent in the turquoise pot on your collectible table? I just purchased an Anacampseros telephiastrum variegated from Poot's Cactus Nursery in Ripon, CA. It looks similar to the one in that pot.

Given how much you seem to like your Haworthia cooperi, I have to wonder how much of a rabbithole it would be for you to explore the other varieties (of which there are many) as well! I know they don't get real big so they might not have much use in your landscaping, but they are really cool nonetheless, IMO.

I love your walkabouts. If the gardeners are not doing as you ask you should report them to the HOA. Surely the HOA would tell them to stop blowing stuff into your yard.
I vote you take out the middle plants in the front left flank and put that big (?) plant from in front of the fountain in the back yard! I think it would make a bigger statement.. :-)

Tip: You know some lemon trees don’t like to be in pots….. they will thrive in the ground- it’s like freedom for them……. 💞…..I love your succulent garden.

It is normal for the leaves to fall off in the cold parts of our winter or in the hottest days of summer. Ie when it is stressed.

Can you use a lightweight leaf blower to clean up the front? We have one that has a battery - maybe DeWalt - and it is very light weight and won't blow the rocks away. Might be a way to do quick clean up the day the association cuts the grass?
