WTF is heavily influenced by tekkeyon, ITF is practically speaking Olympic kickboxing in karate gi, and ITA is Korean shotokan karate. Aka tang soo do (which means "Chinese hand" the same as the original name of karate)
I did Tae Kwon Do for about 7/8 years (i was 2nd degree black belt) and i competed in poomsae and was invited to be an instructor and teach kids, after a few months i had to move an hour away, meaning i would have to quit. I hated sparring but now i miss it so muchhh
Quite the exact same thing that occurred with me 8 years ago now if you were to compare it w/ my history, because for example, I also did it for 7-8 years and actually reached my 2nd-degree Black belt back then.
Karate is really underestimated nowadays. Most of the karate "masters" don't even know what is the right movement. Most of them likes jumping during their footwork and aren't capable of punching hard all the time. IT IS A SHIT! Real karate masters are not weak at all. But, if comparing two different martial arts(like, karate and taekwondo), the only way to compare those are sparring/fight. Not with just amateurs, but true master vs true master. Shotokan karate is a brutal killing mashine. Almost all techniques are strong and are lethal in combat. It's always direct contact. Kiokushinkai karate isn't that strong in reality. It was just too popularized, that's all. Many punches look strong, but when it comes to the real fight, they are weak.
what's fun about taekwondo fights in competitions is seeing lightweight fighters be doing flying and/or spinning kicks around the arena, and it's a spectacle i absolutely enjoy
