did you have to jack up / lift the engine or transmission at any point I watched the video and didn't see you do it but some have told me it's required
No, you don't have to lift the engine
thx i was searching about this, i think it depends the model, like i have a sedan '09 and its bolted differently, so close to transmission i cant take it off, ill try removing bracket that holds catalytic converters and jack there, it sucks

@@vqfelix i removed 2 top nuts of transmission mount and loosen up the 4 bolts around, unbolted the exaust lines from bracket and javked transmission under this bracket
So all I have to do towards the end is just top off the power steering fluid reservoir right?

I replace my steering rack due to leak just a slight pop my guess is from being a cheap version from orginal
my cars steering wheel was very stiff and it also makes a little squeaky noise when turning sometimes and doesn’t turn back when doing turns, so i changed my power steering pump and bled the system and it’s still stiff. what else could it be ?
what tool do you need to reset those codes? i just changed my rack and pinion and now im having slip and vdc lights on dash

You need a high end scan tool that can rest steering angle sensor if you didn't move the steering wheel if shouldn't need to be reset
great job. quick question I'm having the same problem with my rack I ordered a part and came without the sensor or Steering Gear Housing where did you order your from everything online I saw comes without the piece I went to two mechanics already
This doesn't have a sensor I think only newer infiniti and 350z have the sensor. I would just say transfer your oem one

Yes but I don't recommend doing it if you don't have experience
In the end, it's cheaper and more reliable just to replace the rack. I just ordered one off of rock auto. Rack, power steering pump and 2 end links was $780 CAD with shipping.
I have a 2007 Infiniti g35x. There is an electrical connection attached to the pinion gear assembly. Do you know what this is called? I can't find it anywhere, and new pinion gear assemblies come without it.
It's a seleniod that gives you more assistance when turning the wheel. If the replacement didn't come with one, then it's not the correct one for your vehicle
What kind of wheels do you have on that g
Is it the a1 cardone?
Is this the same as in a g37 coupe ?
The suframe is in the way for the g37 so it will be slightly different

The G37s have a subframe in the way you would need to support the engine while it's off
Have a question for the Infiniti is the outer tie rod the same for north right & left or they’re different would appreciate if someone helped

Did you remove the transmission support bracket?
No
How do you know what dead center is for the steering wheel? Eyeballing it seems too iffy
Only way to know 100 percent is to get a scan to that can read the steering angle sensor, but most don't have 1k for one
Try getting the steering wheel as close to dead center as u can before u disassemble anything. Then, use painters tape to tape the steering wheel in place along with sharpie timing marks on the tape. Helps keep it close
I have a 2011 g37 sedan is this the same process I need to change mine
It's not the same process it's in the same area but the subframe is in the way

@@ezkoshows7136 hi, i loosen the transmission mount that is around mid car (removed the 2 nuts at the top, and loosen the 4 bolts around), and unbolted exaust lines leaving the bracket there, i jacked under this bracket, i took pictures if you ever need
@@jonathanc8513 oh man sounds like a lot of work, my inner tie rod broke so I was debating if I should just replace the tie rod or the whole rack and pinion but I might just replace the tie rod then lol

Do you know anything about the q50 electric steering rack n pinon? My steering has a clunking noise when moving the steering wheel and insane steering wander knocking my toe spec out of alignment
I would check your inner tie rods jack up the front of the vehicle and check for movement while your steering wheel us locked

Thank you all of that has been checked the noise is coming from the shaft
the factory specs for the play in the rack n pinon is 16.7 mine is at 1.38 so that's obviously the problem. 35mm is way too much play. Defective in my opinion

It's similar, but your subframe is in the way, so it might slide out

More than likely a 2wd. I don't think the coupes came in AWD
