@@spacemanspacepants5238 nepali word existed from 1923. Ancient Nepali means only people of Kathmandu i.e. newari. Majority r gorkha kingdom origin. Nepalese cannot be sikkimese n indian. Otherwise 70 PC Nepalese shd be called indian( most Brahmin, many chetry n madhesi).

And going through this , limbu and rai people are natives to their place sikkim . So ,why limbu people called them gorkhali even though they never settled in sikkim via nepal. @@dynamite4976 after 1890 limboo, Rai used to call gorkhali after incorporated in gorkha regiment from east Nepal, Sikkim, Darjeeling. Limboo of Sikkim still don't call themselves gorkha. They r new gorkha n native of both east Nepal, Sikkim, Darjeeling. Lepcha were not included in gorkha regiment so r not called gorkha. But in Darjeeling they call themselves gorkha. Due to linguistic n culture assimilation. Cuz gorkha was not ethnicity.

Anyone born in India after 1987 but both parents r not indian cannot be indian. One of parents Myst be indian. But. Nepali origin tribes of sikkim n Darjeeling ( also part of Sikkim colonised by British ) r living there from late 1700 way before Sikkim merged with India from 1975 n British left Darjeeling in 1947 with India. They were not people taken by u. N Nepal also ruled Darjeeling for decades before British annexed ( ruled by Sikkim from 1642 before nepal n by lepcha, limboo n magar chiefs from pre historic time)
N kirati tribes like limboo, magar etc were in present in Sikkim from pre historic period beside present Nepal along with lepcha way before monarch of Sikkim existed from 1642. N Sikkim is limboo tribe word "su - khyim" which is also kirati tribe of far east Nepal along Nepal sikkim border whose teritorry got divided between Nepal n sikkim. N Sikkim had nothing to do with India till 1975 merger n Darjeeling till British left with India in 1947.
