Supposing a future in which space travel is cheaper/easier, and terra-forming is more feasible, I can imagine super rich people owning their own dwarf planet(s) (not unlike how some wealthy people own private islands).
Its not just the dwarf planets. Lets look at moons. Luna, Ganymede, Europa, Io, Calisto, Titan, Triton, Mimas, Iapetus, Tethys, Rhea, Enceladus. Worlds that for most of them if they were not orbiting gas giants would be classed as dwarf planets or planets in their own right. Plus there are the possible larger bodies in the outer solar system that may exist.
Our solar system is so fascinating. I hope we can visit these dwarf planets one day. If they have oceans of liquid water inside them they could have life forms that is adapted to the extreme conditions.
Despite the dwarf planet category, Pluto did not cease to be a planet; and still, Charon is also a planet, because it is a binary system, unique known so far in the Solar System. The bureaucrats who invented this term, dwarf planet, only created an unnecessary polemic, therefore, we do not normally refer to the 4 gaseous planets like giant planet, simply Jupiter, Saturn, etc.The reality is this, there are many planets in the Solar System and most of them are small, exceptions are the "big" planets.

Wow, pluto travels across the kuiper belt width? Think of all the material it picks up. Analyzing Pluto is enough to analyze Kuiper.
Another interesting video, exploring some minor players in the solar system. Pluto and Ceres interest me, due to the fact they may harbour subsurface water oceans. I look forward to your next video.
I do not like the definition of a planet as a body that has cleared it's orbit. I suspect in other solar systems this definition will fall down. To me Pluto is a planet plus all the others in the Kuiper belt.
looking at some computer models its quite possible that triton was captured from pluto by neptune, or pluto and neptune switched moons, if you look at triton and pluto they are almost identical, they have more in common than pluto and charon. its almost certain that triton wasn't formed where it is now, its all very fascinating.
The hypothetical 9th planet is suppose to be something like seven hundred Astronomical Units from us (an AU is the distance of the Earth from the Sun) with an orbital period around the Sun of 10,000 to 20,000 years. With those assumptions in mind I hardly think it would be able to clear its orbit of other celestial bodies; that is just too much space for it to do so. So, if it is a big planet (a super earth) and it DOESN'T clear its orbit then does that mean it isn't a planet? I think once this thing is truly found we're going to have to once again revisit the question, what does and doesn't constitute a planet?
Orbital inclination has nothing to do with the definition of a planet. Pluto's orbit could be at whatever inclination it wants, even one that matches the other planets, and it still wouldn't meet the current definition of planet.
Yo, that's crazy. If you were standing on Pluto and somehow you built a strong enough telescope to looks at earth perfectly and its people, you would be seeing them 6 hours in the past.
Outside in space, all those terms coined by Earthlings don't mean anything. Therefore categorizing and identifying things are only passtimes. Instead of doing that, what we should is to allow the infinitity of space to be as it is, not identify it, not categorize and dumb it down to definitions. So that we can see a planet as it is, not as it is named.
It'll be good when they finally do discover a way to enormously increase the speed of our spacecraft. If we could hit 10% of light speed we could effctively maneuver around our solar system a whole lot easier.
The real answer in all this why so many planets??? Easy because God made them all. ..Mystery Solved... And I know some will agree to disagree but this what I believe. Anyway good video. 👍👍
I'm so sick of hearing every planet has oceans under their surfaces.... Can we talk about provable things?... We might as well talk about whether God exists or not
I love this channel. I'm the kind of guy that loves to ponder on and imagine crazy things about what's out there and this channel is basically that.
Abel Ramirez believe in god
Wow amazing video as usual. You deserve much more subs mate... at least half a million! Keep it up, you will eventually be there!

Ganymede is larger than mercury.
Yet far less dense. Mercury has the same gravity as Mars.

You deserve so much more views and thanks for putting all of your efforts in your videos

Only just found this channel yesterday... I've been here hours. All brilliant stuff. 👍

I wish we would sent an entire fleet of cubesats to investigate the Kuiper Belt, and beyond, leaving a few behind to relay data back to Earth.
Brilliant channel, brilliant video. Perfect educational tool also.
Can't believe I'm late.. My home town is called Ceres.
My town is Called Earth lol

Your videos are great man!
Keep up the good job

One of the very very few channel I turned on NOTIFICATIONS... Lovely...
What do you mean they have not cleared their orbit?
Great vid. Thanks for the upload.
Kick out all the dwarf planets, meteorites, and astroid belts out of the solar system, everything is so confusing.
Ryan Robertson let's make the solar system great again MTSSGA
lol
Ryan Robertson hm
Ryan Robertson They're takin our jobs!
yeah
We should have a huge telescope on Triton and Pluto. And how about the Oort Cloud? I´d bet there are few iceballs there as well...
Somewhere there is a planet of giant tardigrades that can live in extreme conditions

You need more subs, this is really educating
video idea: what if ganymede became a moon of earth another video idea: spending a day on mercury 1 billion years ago

Your video are really awesome.

A dwarf planet to me is simply a type of planet, like a rocky planet or gas planet.

What if the sun exploded while you were on Pluto? You'll still see the sun alive, but will you feel any differences?
Is the Kuiper belt a disc like rings of Saturn or spherical?

By then, we probably would have made a proper definition of types of planets
Could our solar system have trojan planets being dragged along with us as we orbit the galaxy?

What if a planet was entirely made of heavy metals, and how large could it become before collapsing into a black hole?

If it has an atmosphere its a planet if it doesn't then it's meteor and also it can be any size or shape
The question I want to know is how many planets can the sun technically hold with its gravity
An infinite number but the planets will cause eachother to collide

We pretend To Find life in the Other Parts Of the Galaxies when we have them in our Home ...
Karthik Iyer Nasa Boy no shit
Well, yeah. Earth would be the obvious answer.
Guys I think he means the solar system as our home
Yeah I know
Nobody has pretended that. And we know there's life on earth, that's why it isn't amazing to see a dog compared to a martian bacterium.
Use hubble telescope

i just waiting for james telescope laucnh in 2018,. There must be lots of finding
The music in the beginning reminded me of Metroid games
He tried to be smart with this when he said thereare over 200 planets but it didn't really work
So 8 planet is a lie
if the type of celestial object has the word "planet" in them, then they must be a type of planet!
Theres more planet in the past but they got *REJECTED*
There’s 8 planets in our solar system
Actually, if these space rocks connect with each other, it will form A New planet
Of course there is all the giant planets have got their own mini solar systems 👍.
