Charon is a cold distant object that orbits Pluto, so what would standing on this world feel like? In this video i discuss what the experience would be like.
Intro, outro and many other clips used in the video are made with Space Engine.

Charon was probably discovered so late because it and Pluto sort of blurred together in telescopes, so astronomers didn't know they were two different objects. This also means that prior to 1978, it was believed that Pluto is much larger than it actually is. The discovery of Charon was in some ways the first step towards Pluto's eventual "demotion", the others being the discovery of other Kuiper belt objects and finally the discovery of Eris.

Yup. When you convert thermal energy to light energy, the wavelength of light is 0.0029/[temperature in kelvin]*K*m. The average temperature on Charon is 53.15 kelvin, or -220°C. Using the calculator, the little heat radiation it has to give in infrared has an average wavelength of 54.563 μm. With the little atmosphere Charon has, you might warm up from the little heat radiation and feel it, but you would then feel a lack of CO2. Might need a space suit and build a CO2 tent.

Yeah. It all depends on how much fuel you are willing to spend accelerating and decelerating but I would say a decade to Charon would be a pretty good estimate. New Horizons took 9.5 years including a gravity assist and it didn't have to worry about slowing down to land.
