Hey look! Thats me! Seeing myself in a card market video is a dream! 🥳 This tournament was so cool to be apart of! And i cant wait to see how the top 8 plays out! Thoralf and Andrea bring such great energy to these videos!
I'm so grateful for your participation in the swiss tournament! I'm really excited to pilot your deck in the top 8 and I hope to deliver on the skill with which you played it to make it here :D
@@dcrappa1I think he was hoping that he could continue comboing to get more power onto the battlefield, since he didn’t have enough to win immediately after the temp fissure. My guess is that he was worried that the affinity deck with a hand full of cheap artifacts would be able to rebuild faster than the bundle of 1/1s and 2/2s could kill
He had discarded, drawn, or played a significant enough amount of lands that his odds of continuing to combo were high, unfortunately it basically fizzled after the Temporal Fissure and he didn't draw any other interaction.
I have been waiting for this series for weeks, LETS GOOO. No exaggeration, my favorite series format on TH-cam. Thank you Cardmarket for consistently dropping BANGERS
I think my favorite part about pauper is that there's a space in it for everything from "draft chaff" to "legacy-playable". Also, thanks for posting the Swiss and getting a bunch of people involved! I know that that's a non-trivial amount of work and that it's really niche media, but I think it's still super cool.
Fun to watch these two face off against each other! l appreciate the interludes that break down the thinking about their plays. Looking forward to see how this series plays out, thanks for another fun video.
Which is crazy, this is like Power 9 turn 0/1/2 wins, but everything is common versus endless slogs in modern! It just goes to show how much of MTG is about your skills and instincts as a player, the community recognizing combos and synergies, and just how many cards in common print shouldn't be slept on!
@@MelanieOh TBH modern is slower due to interaction being far more prevalent. There have been many modern decks that can potentially win on turn 2-3-4, but they're usually too weak to interaction stopping their shenanigans. Ad nauseam and Nivmagus infect were such examples.
Yeees! It's finally here. Super pumped for this series. Andrea should count himself lucky with this win because that Familliars deck looked super scary in the swiss!
great video as usual I still love those little talks they do where they explain their gameplan which is the big difference between other paper magic content
Love the change to the intro to mention you got Pauper legends to do the pre tournament matches! (no idea if this was the same as for modern) Makes me more confident that you guys are taking this series seriously, which imo makes it more fun to watch!
Yes we did the same for modern but we thought we would start putting in the extra work to give a platform to those who help us out with it and in exchange manage to share the games in video form from their own channels :) you can see the matches if you want in the pinned comment and description
It finally started! It was really cool to participate with my old combo love, even if my content is very limited (to walls 🤣) thanks for the opportunity!

This was an exhilarating watch as always. I love it when Andrea and Thoralf go up against each other, they have such good chemistry and it's great seeing two pros go at it

That was one swift exit for the awesome familiars deck. Not gonna lie, I love these series because the old decks are cool to see for a player who werent around for them. Seing the deck which dominates the meta atm eradicate older decks hurts. Just like scam dominating modern was just so sad.
At 4:04 couldn't Toffel have floated two, play the bounce lane, play snap untapping the bounce land. That would open up the mana for research and send signals that be might have multiple snap in hand
Noooo!!! Guys you should have started with the octofinals to make this amazing serie lasts longer. Anyway, I look forward to seeing my boy Mengu be crowned with that crazy affinity deck!!
Been so excited for this one! I hope we get a best deck ever of all the competitive formats and then a best format ever where the results are pretty obvious but we get to prove scientifically that pauper is stronger than pioneer and standard

As someone who's played pauper over a lot of different eras, some decks like the flicker storm and certain older tron builds, any proactive deck from the last couple years is going to trounce it because pauper was a lot slower paced/value based in those eras

Affinity is also the easiest deck that can recover from a temporal fissure, since full of low to the ground spells
Better will be return all mana sources first and then creatures
