2001-2005 were the best years of my life. Unwrapping the Gamecube for christmas, playing Jak and Daxter on ps2, dressing up as Harry Potter for halloween at the time of the second movie's release. Miss those days 😪. And cant forget Drake and Josh and Zoey 101
Me too, I wish artist would record the actual process more often (I understand that could pose as a major distraction though and become more preventative thus counterproductive). I would kill to see how the Beatles formulated their songs. Probably something along the lines of... Lucifer in the room whispering the melodies into their ears w/out them even realizing he's there. WINK. Just joking, not.
I love how people fight about wich record is the best like their opinion is a universal truth or something, "HEY WHATEVER IT MEANS TO YOU"- yes everything moves in circles round n round we go)))
It's good that videos like this one are only surfacing now. I have something new to watch about them (though it is an old video) and at the same time, I am finding out new stuff related to the creation of one of my favorite Incubus songs.
I wonder if we’ll ever hear of unreleased songs such as I dream of Fiji, Dirk Rock, Show me you, The funk walk, Meadowlark, Silent Hill beat, Why?!, Razor blades for boots (…maybe that is Have you ever?!), End of the road, Exit 3D, Who got the lighter…
It is always interesting to see a creation process, the way they work on music and in a good-natured atmosphere, pretty laid back. It was also certainly a pretty great time for them. Friends who make awesome music. Why does time fly by so quickly?
Where the hell did you get this particular video?? I know there is a similar one on the actual Morning View disc if you put it in your computer, and there are similar ones on the Morning View sessions DVD, but I've never seen some of this specific footage before! Where is it from?
OK, anyone figure out what the list on the whiteboard means? Chapters in a book, song titles, track components...I'm lost. 18. End of the Road 19. Razor Blades for Boots (soft) 20. I Dream of Fiji 21. Dirk Rock (mee-ner-ner, me-ner-ner) 22. Show Me You 23. The Funk Walk 24. Meadowlark? 25. Silent Hill Beat 26. WHY?! (Because) 27. Exit-3D
I used to spend a ton of time at my friends' house, and they were all in a band together. They had a whiteboard with song titles on it for practice. I believed they were mostly the track names that ended up on the demo, but I think some changed slightly over time. They also sometimes had lists of ideas and things they needed to do to work on/complete songs or recordings, so I'm sure it's something to that effect.
Pretty sure they are tentative "track names". Mike and Brandon have said in interviews that they typically start the recording process with 30ish musical "ideas" - could be a fleshed out riff, a chord, a drum beat, anything really. The Look Alive DVD soundtrack is a good example of this. Some of these early ideas could have become songs on Morning View. Who knows but I would be on "Razor Blades for Boots" being Have You Ever.
Very much so. But if they did cut Kilmore's records to already have it there, maybe that's why it sounds so natural. I dunno. Took me awhile to be able to do that little humming run in tune myself!
There are supposed to be strippers in that pool. They said there would be strippers. Where are the strippers? Watch their MTV cribs episode to know what I'm talking about.
I miss the Morning View era. I must say, this is the most epic album of all time!
Dang really, more so than SGT PEPPER and BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK!!? ; )
Pure musical focus.
I’m agreeing with this statement 20 years later. One of my favorite records of all time
Making music with your best friends in a beautiful house in California. That incredible!

I wanna cry every time I see old videos of them. I was too young to appreciate this back then...
Im emotionally provoked too
The nostalgia is real. This was the best time ever. I want to go back.
@@blsk3719 I think that many would like to go back for many reasons.

Working song titles maybe. I know he later used the razorblades for boots line in blood on the ground.
