Why COP27 Refused To Discuss Food...

  • It was great to speak at COP27. But not so great to go around the stalls, which were nearly exclusively (apart from ProVeg International and a couple of others) talking about fossil fuels. In this vlog, I explore this topic and ask people what they think the single biggest thing we can do to reduce our impact (as individuals) on the climate. Hope you enjoy! - Klaus Mitchell

      The biggest Problem is overpopulation.

Eating plant based is great, but at the same time people should consider smaller families.

    • @MrTittybutt
      @MrTittybutt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@CordeliaWagnerThe biggest problem is people consuming too much and too inefficiently. I agree we should have fewer kids and I am having none although capable. When the western coountries consume multiples more than the other 6.8 billion and the 6.8 billion dont all have electricity, Id say its consumption. The world would almost function if that was the motivation but no matter which animal muscle, milk or egg, or fish you consume, its outsized. It takes multiples of water and feed that could be fed to humans to produce the same amount of calories. So we have enough food and water now for every human on earth but, humans insist on having an animal meal so ten+ times the grains, water, fertilizers, etc are used for the incredibly selfish humans to have what they think they want. Were not smart and were taught adn steered what to want. Look into Edward Bernays. The social engineering is what keeps us toddlers. Also while over population is a problem too, its really about us being horrible narcissists and only thinking of the effect on we humans vs the lives being tormented ad killed for any amount of people. Iluusory superiroity just cause we can and other creatures on this alien planet only being worth what we can use them for. Modern day inter-species slavery.
Its kinda like only caring about our family, our country, our state instead of anyone outside of that becasue we cant see the value or lack the imagination to. Consume less, consume better and stop having kids as its cruel to have them for your completeness as they will have challenges that modern parents only pay lip service to. Having kids to struggle and suffer. Some people are not educated and their world veiw is small. Kinda like how I dont hold starving people to the same obligation as the entitled over consumer.

It's like when I watched a pandemic documentary at the start of COVID. These scientists were talking about how there was a new avian influenza outbreak while sitting down to a huge table of chicken dinner! That very scene was so bizarre to me it actually got me to stop buying animal products. I was like, "Wait, so they KNOW chickens are infected with diseases and spread them to us and they still eat them?? HOW??" The documentary was called "Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak" and I was like, "Aren't they CAUSING outbreaks by eating chickens? How is this preventing an outbreak?"
I dunno, there was just something about it where my brain wouldn't accept that level of cognitive dissonance. So it was my wake-up and yet the scientists in the very documentary were just as blind as ever.

Thanks Klaus for being so brave and so consistently repeating the unobvious obvious ... I am a German nutrition scientist , working alongside with the international pioneers of a whole food plant based diet (and regenerative chemical free farming) for over 30 years now, like you never stopping to consult individuals, organisations and companies how they can happily shift their diets and end this insane and cruel, planet and health threatening animal torture and exploitation . I am shocked about the amount of ignorance after all these years... . The medical discussions especially in the United States now get weirdly into "meat based" (great Marketing of meat lobby), not addressing how chemical agriculture, food industry and other environmental impacts have impaired our digestive capacity to such an extent that intolerances against many plants occur (and would need professional help which is quite rare...). Very few therapists really are experts in plant based respecting nicrobiome and digestive capacity. Dear vegan community, please do not fall into the trap of highly processed, sugary,, nutrient lacking vegan products that will for sure not keep you healthy. This is best greenwashing for Agrochemical and Food Industry -and the best meat industry can have is unhealthy vegans I am afraid that the vegan labe also for highly processed foodl is contributing to parts of it. I am a member of proveg too, but I would love to see more real nutrition experts help the young generation to create a healthy "new normal". I will do so soon with videos and would be delighted to connect with you for an Intervie or so. I have done the work in practice: with patients, companies, schools for decades. "Exemple is leadership" as Albert Schweitzer stated so wisely. Thank you for your ongoing brave exemple- and thank you all in this community to report and also to film again and again what sins against Mother Nature we call "modern lifestyle ". The people who want to be leaders and representatives are generally the wrong people. People with values and empathy have shit to do and dont need the accolades or attention. They do it just to do it. Or in the case of veganism, they dont do the murder.

This was so frustrating to watch. I could feel your frustration. I know how uncomfortable it is to put yourself in these situations where people completely ignore the science on animal ag’s impact. Thank you for being there to represent veganism.

It's called "actively choosing ignorance" so "I" don't have to make any changes.
I can pretend to be concerned by driving an electric car and installing solar. But I still get to drive my car and use electricity and pat myself on the back but I don't have to give anything up.
    People are pathetic.

Best out of touch / ignorant comments: "Turn out your lights when not in use" - "get solar panels!" and my favorite "I dare you to talk to indigenous groups about meat..."
    Great Video

It’s so ridiculous and annoying to hear someone say,”start with small things, like install solar panels on your home and drive an electric vehicle “😂 and to be so completely dismissive of “plant based diets or something like that”. How out of touch are people, when the most concerned amongst us are attending these world summits and yet are hopelessly ignorant when it comes to cause and solution. Man, we’ve got a long way to go.

Ugh, so frustrating. Thank you so much for discussing animal agriculture with people. Hopefully they'll think back on convos like these as we bring more of the issues of animal agriculture to light.

22:10 COP's Hypocrisy and Ignorance: "They've actually said, "Don't change the food at COP, we don't have meetings if we can't have our burgers. And you're seeing chicken, burgers, fish served here at a climate change summit".

They're SO desperate to keep eating animals they pull out their phones to "fact check" him. 🤦‍♀️ That's what being addicted to animal cruelty will do to you.
