- So ,I was thinking of trying to beat Mario Kart Wii without collecting any coins and then I realized that Mario Kart Wii doesn't have any coins. So today instead we are going to find out if you can beat Mario Kart Wii without drifting.

I think people are misunderstanding this challenge, it's not a "beat Mario Kart with automatic" challenge, it's "beat Mario Kart on manual without drifting"
But don't you want to read 3000 comments from idiots about how they "never even knew drifting existed as a kid"?

Allow me to introduce myself, a person that does challenges 5 times a week
All 3: First Time?
Do people in the comments that say "i did this When i was 6" understand that playing on "automatic" is still drifting? The difference between automatic and manual is that on manual you have to hold B to drift and you get a mini turbo (blue fire behind the wheels), on automatic you don’t have to click B, but you don’t get a mini turbo.
So if you "did this When you were 6" means you chose the "manual" option and just didn’t use B, and if you have never tried manual without drifting, let me tell you, it’s hell. Because if you go too fast into a sharp corner the only thing you can do is slow down, which risks losing first place, or crash into a wall/fall of an edge, which also wastes time.
Saying that you beat Mario Kart Wii on automatic is like saying you play minecraft on peaceful, nobody is going to praise you, because it’s easier than playing on normal mode (manual in this case)

Fun fact: it’s impossible in the latest update to beat Minecraft in Peaceful unless you get a one in a trillion end portal. If you do that in random seed, THEN USE YOUR LUCK ELSEWHERE

Honestly would love to see this challenge on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 200cc and all firsts, or in that game, 3 star gold trophies. You’re nearly required to drift on many of the tracks, even needing to brake while drifting to make the cuts on the best handling karts, and hence actually add an extremely real challenge to the run.

Beating all of the cups without drifting is easy. Next you need to beat ALL of the time trials without drifting

OOOoo, here's an idea, how about you do a Mario Kart Wii challenge, but with ONLY Drifting, here are the rules for this (to make it somewhat do able)
1. Only drifting, except if you are boosting at all in any way (through the manual drift option, or through items/boost pads)
2. Obviously, you can't jump a gap AND drift at the same time, so that is also another exception
3. Getting hit is kinda inevitable, tbh, so after getting hit by anything, you have about 5 seconds to get back to drifting/boosting or whatever, or else you fail the challenge
4. If you fail, you have to do that entire tournament over again.
again, these are doctored a bit, to make it somewhat possible, but if there is an actual way to do it all with just drifting period, then go ahead.
For me, a guy who plays the hecc out of CTGP and who’s also third in the world on Slot Circuit 200cc and top 10 in Retro Raceway 200cc...

In the description of automatic it always said "without mini turbo" but when I was young I always thought it means that no turbo mushroom was required to drift.

For my God-like skill in MKW to this day, I still never spam Funky Kong or bikes on principle. I just never found them as fun as the Marios or Wild Wing kart.
More to the point, I also didn't bother with Manual drifting for years, which is what Cmee outlawed. I did pick it up later, but somehow, I still find Automatic easier to handle. Automatic, however, to this day is more than enough for me to dominate pretty much any human I've raced, so against A.I, it's _downright child's play_ to best Story Mode without Mini-Turbos. The real challenge is abolishing Automatic as well, making sure that you don't swerve and make white skid marks.
Edit: I take it back. Reviewing his footage, he certainly doesn't give in to the ease of Automatic drifting, thus actually winning gold in the whole game without drifting period. Great accomplishment, man.

Dude as a kid my dad told me that the automatic/manual setting was to change gears and for that one reason alone I never got good at Mario kart until I got the 3ds version

Automatic was good for Wiimotes. Mario Kart 8 removed that feature, and Wiimotes made my hands hurt.

Good job. Though to be fair, this challenge is made somewhat easier with items like mushrooms and bullet bills being given in worse positions and the fact that the ai isn't on a human level...
This was the only mario kart game I had, so I know all the tracks by heart, and still is my only mario kart game

my childhood was comprised of no drifting.... i now have trouble drifiting properly
I played through mario kart ds without drifting when I was younger
I didn't even know drifting was a thing.
I did this with koopa troopa and the bullet bike when I was nine. I just didn't know of drifting but chose manual as it sounded cooler to me. To make this a real challenge, make sure you have a three Star ranking in EVERY cup with EVERY speed including mirror.
Edit: I used the sideways wiimote to play if anyone was wondering.
This challenge isn’t a challenge tbh. I think he should’ve gone and tried to win every race since just ‘winning’ the cups is easy, like even 6 year old me could do this

like other people are saying, i also technically did this when i was 6, on manual. however, i was playing on 100cc, not 150cc, so maybe theres a difference between speeds that would stop me from getting wins in it.

To "beat" MKWii you need to get 3 stars on 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, Mirror all eight cups and unlock all 32 Expert Staff Ghosts
And then have your little brother delete your license.
And then do it all over again, but struggle with the mirror cups.

I remember having no problem, it's not that hard of a mechanic to learn, and it's definitely more fun than just accelerating and steering.
Edit: my first kart game experience was PSX Crash Team Racing. It has a very different drift style from Mario Kart and it took me a while to figure out that
1) shoulder buttons were a thing on a psx controller
2) you had to use both drift buttons to boost
And yet I felt very rewarded when I figured it out without having an in game tutorial or an instruction booklet.
