Every year in my town at halloween theres this house that so convincingly burns down at sunset that there is a constant flow of traffic to see it, each of the windows has a flame animation playing with fog machines out front, they had to add pirate skeletons to keep people from kicking the front door in attempting to save them.
My friend is in a production that uses "black light" to put on an interesting show. This would be a cool thing to suggest to them. I was trying to find some software for this but you solved my problem. Thanks.
Wow It actually seems do'able! Was really hoping to experiment with projection mapping at university since im here for performing arts but had NO idea how to go about that xD Very helpful video sir! Will be referring back to this when I can get into it:)
How does it work if I have a long smooth wall and want to connect 5 projectors together. For example, a panorama. Do I have to have a own computer for each projector or is it also possible with one? best regards
Every year here in Sydney we have something called the Vivid Festival, where among other events they do this to various buildings throughout the city. The festival was co-created by Eno! Also when I went to Walt Disney World last year they had a _really_ beautiful show centred around doing this w/the castle.
The way we made our first projection map was by opening microsoft paint with the projector on, and we simply traced the shape of the object (this was for an art installation). Though I wish we would've found this video, we might've been able to do more xD

Here's how you solve the puzzles: (Click Show More if you don't mind spoilers) 1. The first URL is on tinkernut's website, with the missing letters and .html on the end. 2. Selecting the entire website with Ctrl+A shows the next URL. 3. The little snippet of text is encrypted in base 64. 4. Image steganography, like in Tinkernut's video. 5. Message hidden in the spectrogram of the audiofile
kuso121 find the image URL, then locate the folder. The image is stored in that folder, and there will be an audio file. Download the audio file, and view the spectrogram of it. This will give you the final link.
Hi, I loved what you did here. I'm looking to do scene changes in a theatre play and I was hoping to know whether you might think VPT7 is a good software to use for that?
it took me a while before i understood the whole thing...lol...but i found another video tutorial how to start it and now i'm watching this...in 1 hour...im a pro! hahahahaa...thanks
So the animations we see in the projection mapping videos are created with another program then imported into VPT? Do you have a recommendation to making those animated videos?
They did something like this at London 2012 but instead of a projector they had lights on the chairs. The stadium was basically a massive display to show videos!
Hi, thanks for share. Its a very good intro video for start in the world of projection mapping. But i have a question, i want to do cake mapping, i need to have a good PC or notebook with a powerfull video target? Thanks.
I know it's something completely different, but I want to ask if it's possible to bypass a VPN block you have on some sites. If so, could you do a tutorial on it? I also want to ask if it's possible on iOS.
hi i've trying by myself the VPT software and i like it i dont know how i figurate to make fullscreen button to works but now i can't do it anymre so i decide i want to learn more so i'm here to ask about how i contact you if you guys have some on line school anything will helps a lot i really want to learn this mapping technic, thanks i'll be waiting 4 an answer...
This is cool. But there is another way of doing this by webcam and projector right? So that the webcam picks up the images, and you can project onto it.
hey thanks for the upload! have a quick question! if I already have a 3d model at my computer of the surface in which im projecting, and I make a 2d elevation of whatever im drawing digitally onto the surface. Would it be enough to project that altered 2d image into the real life model? thkx
Thanks for this video, it helped me wrap my mind around some basic stuff I need to look into. Question I'm a motion graphics designer, how can I use my skills for this? I really want to get into doing custom designs for big events but I don't know if knowing motion graphics software can help at all.
Yes it will cause you can create your own custom effects. However if you have the cash i HIGHLY recommend buying. Lightform set up. Look up Lightform on youtube, would pair better with your skillset
Hello tinker nut. I am a big fan, and as you may not have seen some of my videos, I am a raspberry pi fan. In this project you used a projector you got on Amazon for around $60 if I correctly remember. I would like to project xbmc for raspberry pi onto my wall so my question is, how is the quality of the projector? Do you like it? And would you suggest it to anyone else? I am a kid so I don't care as much about resolution because I am not as skilled as you more experienced tech people. If you could please reply that would make my day! And maybe you could put out a quick review video of the projector! Thanks
yes, the contest. using the missing letters from the past 3 or so videos, combine them, and it will take you to the starting page of the contest. there are 3 challenges, the first to solve it gets a $100 gift card.
Still the one of the best videos to start, understand and introduce someone to projection mapping. Thank u
I haven't tuned in for a hot decade- when the intro came on I knew it was gonna be another great video!
This video introduced me to projection mapping and Pomplamoose and honestly nothing else has ever changed my life so significantly

This is a really good, simple video. I like the low cost options and the production is really neat. Thanks.
great walk-thru of everything. Brought me a lot of clarity. Thanks
Great simple, direct, fun video ✌🏼very helpfull! Thanks!

Awesome!!!! Will do projection mapping on my wedding cake !!!! Will share
30 seconds into the video and I already love the channel ! Cudos man :)
Nice! I might just try this soon for something. We already have a pretty good projector.
Awesome video I saw someone do this on wedding cakes and wondered how it was done.
Wow It actually seems do'able! Was really hoping to experiment with projection mapping at university since im here for performing arts but had NO idea how to go about that xD Very helpful video sir! Will be referring back to this when I can get into it:)
Did you make it?
Thanks man i should invite you to Kenya sometime.TECHNOLOGY NEVER STOPS.
How does it work if I have a long smooth wall and want to connect 5 projectors together. For example, a panorama. Do I have to have a own computer for each projector or is it also possible with one? best regards
It is possible to use just one, you can use a video splitter or switcher to connect 5 projectors to 11 computer.
Every year here in Sydney we have something called the Vivid Festival, where among other events they do this to various buildings throughout the city. The festival was co-created by Eno!
Also when I went to Walt Disney World last year they had a _really_ beautiful show centred around doing this w/the castle.
Thanks for that amazing video! :) You are born to "DIY" very inspiring.
That is the most useful and informative video i've ever met. This is great!
Awesome! this was such a great video for a beginner like me
The way we made our first projection map was by opening microsoft paint with the projector on, and we simply traced the shape of the object (this was for an art installation). Though I wish we would've found this video, we might've been able to do more xD
You can also try HeavyM :)
Hi! Thanks to you i'm about to be using this in my next art project at AUB, UK. I'll let you know how it goes, really helpful tutorial!
How did your art project go? If you are still looking to do it we may be of some assistance ;)

This was incredibly helpful, thanks!
Could you cover your objects in green and do a green screen effect or do you have to do projection mapping ?
Hi, I loved what you did here. I'm looking to do scene changes in a theatre play and I was hoping to know whether you might think VPT7 is a good software to use for that?
Grandioso! Gracias por compartir esta info!
Very informative video, thank you! I'm also looking to do laser mapping, do you know anything about that? is that the same software as this?
it took me a while before i understood the whole thing...lol...but i found another video tutorial how to start it and now i'm watching this...in 1 hour...im a pro! hahahahaa...thanks
what other video did you watch? I need a step by step video.
This helped so much, thanks!
Hello there!
liked it!
Just to know if there is any tutorial that will be helpful making a projection for dance?
is there any specific type of projector for this or any one works?
So the animations we see in the projection mapping videos are created with another program then imported into VPT? Do you have a recommendation to making those animated videos?
They did something like this at London 2012 but instead of a projector they had lights on the chairs. The stadium was basically a massive display to show videos!
hi, thanks for the video!
which kind of projector (simple and easy) can you suggest to me for start?
on amazon what projector is the best picture quality easy to use and inexpensive price?
Hi, thanks for share. Its a very good intro video for start in the world of projection mapping. But i have a question, i want to do cake mapping, i need to have a good PC or notebook with a powerfull video target?
Thanks.
Was the box-y shape in the final section a similar size to the foamboard being cut near the beginning? Or was it a larger scale thing? Thank you!
Awesome tutorial. I used to think it was a lot hardder to do
Thank you for the video :) may i ask you what software did you use for creating this video?
Thanks so much Tinkernut! I had not heard of VPT before.
Will this work on my MacBook from 2011?
I know it's something completely different, but I want to ask if it's possible to bypass a VPN block you have on some sites.
If so, could you do a tutorial on it?
I also want to ask if it's possible on iOS.
Is there a way to use live video? Say input video into your computer and them map that? Or even just project that?
hi i've trying by myself the VPT software and i like it i dont know how i figurate to make fullscreen button to works but now i can't do it anymre so i decide i want to learn more so i'm here to ask about how i contact you if you guys have some on line school anything will helps a lot i really want to learn this mapping technic, thanks i'll be waiting 4 an answer...
great video, thank you!!
Thanks you so much, easy teaching and not complex soft that just what i needed it:)
Can you somehow use the Kinect's (Xbox 360) Depth Camera to make it easier to map?
This is cool. But there is another way of doing this by webcam and projector right? So that the webcam picks up the images, and you can project onto it.

Cuestión
How much designed mapping project?
Tks
is this need a custom projection type or any projection can do the job .. i mean if i want to do projection mapping on cake ..
Does it support multiple displays and multilchanel sound?
Not sure. Download it and test it out. It's freeware
Was fun, thanks for the little challenge. Too bad that so many other came first, still I learned a lot correct horse battery staple
are they specific projectors used in video mapping??
I'm having problems with the dedicated project not popping up on the channel?
Did you used the Amazon projector in this video? Is the quality of the picture somehow workable?
Thanks a lot this is a great point to start.
Hi tinkernut.. Can you suggest me a list of visuals which I can use for my projection mapping. Please help.
hi, what is the latest software for projection mapping ?
What editing software do you use? Your videos are so nicely edited
Thanks for this video, it helped me wrap my mind around some basic stuff I need to look into. Question I'm a motion graphics designer, how can I use my skills for this? You're amazing! Thank you!!
how dark does the room have to be? Would a projector work in a space where you can't control or dim the lights?
Can you advise please on multiple projectors using one app, can VPT be used for this?
Nice tutorial!
it looks like magic :-) thank you so much for creating the video
I love this video, nice style!
Is the projector worth it? I might buy one as now it's $38.

Hi, this great system. can you explain how to mapping the object and making the animation? thank you

Great! Gotta try this.
Tinkernut i don't know what to do with the image. I tried different file types but it doesn't work. Help!
The links at the end are all misspelled. Is there any reason for this?
yes, the contest. using the missing letters from the past 3 or so videos, combine them, and it will take you to the starting page of the contest. there are 3 challenges, the first to solve it gets a $100 gift card.

Super! Advise a street projector for such a show in 3 D ... Thank you.
As always, another great video. But a really off topic question, will there be any VB projects soon, or any programming projects?
Can I make something that will memorize and playback like 5 seconds of data and loop it while connecting to a projector without a computer?
Thanks for the video
More of a Question. Can this be done in reverse? Meaning projecting from the back instead of projecting on from the front?
melmark4 yes
The Smiler at Alton Towers has projection mapping in part of the queue!
pretty cool, but i think it would look cooler with little LCDs for better image quality. just a thought :)
Tinkernut nice contest. you should do the challenges more often its fun to do
Can you show us how to make a simple Nipkow TV?
