Great job guys, I've not had a single audio glitch, but that one you describe has happened with a few games and I've needed to reinstall. The menu lag is a pain and I totally forgot to mention it! Arghhh! Great job as always! Mark
Re: the combo system: The way it works is you're supposed to first focus on exploring, with some light combat. Then, once you've explored most of the stuff in a given zone, you take a look at the map and try to figure out the most effective route through it, and then try to run the *entire zone in one single combat run* for massive EXP and loot. For example, the Autumn hills have the semi-secret Hedgehag den. Start there, and you can run through basically the ENTIRE area with a max rank combo going. If you intend to grind for rare drops or EXP, this system allows you to do it much more efficiently.
Plus, when you make it to S-Rank now, the enemy respawn timer becomes much shorter to accommodate you. Such that it's possible to just alternate between screens in places with an especially high concentration of enemies.
This. I also don't think that you really feel the need to keep the combo going while exploring, because 95% of overworld enemies don't Automatically attack you. You can explore without combat most of the time.
Yeah I'm surprised he mentioned "it runs counter intuitive to the exploration" when you're literally not meant to do both at the same time lol its clearly about knowing the area and planning out the best route for the best rank.
Purchased the physical collectors edition today! I'm sure they'll patch everything up and get it running as well as the pc version. The game relied a lot on feedback, don't see why they would stop listening now.
I do believe they're aware and working in the patches... Apparently because the original have was on html5, it had to be heavily engineered to run on consoles because they don't support html5 natively
Side note people: Playasia is selling the non steelbook version for 30 USD while Strictly Limited Games is selling the steelbook for 45 USD and a collector's version for 68 USD. These are the prices not including shipping and taxes.
Most of the bugs are probably due to the language. The game was coded in html 5, which means that it isnt super efficient. This leads to issues on consoles with somewhat limited specs, like the switch.
3:24 weird, i play crosscode on a macbook air, early 2015, and it plays butter smooth. And it's not like macs are made for gaming. Really weird. I guess macs handle pixel games well?
Glad you mentioned the issues with the port, planning to play it with Game Pass but maybe getting the console port physical copy in the future, i bet the PS4 port is fine so going with that, tbh i rarely see a Switch port being on par with the others so getting less and less of those, MM Zero/ZX Collection seems fine though, i went with that one on Switch.
the technical issues will probably get fixed, seeing as it took a lot of work to port the games, and I don't think they are going to not fix it when dlc is eventually coming to the game
Pc if you can, since it has new game plus. I find it easier to aim on pc, but being limited to moving in 8 directions slightly more difficult to land some special moves. If you prefer a slicker feel, I would say go console, since aiming isn't too important, most of the time you'll be using melee. Aka, Pc = aiming and new game+, lot of clicking Console = slicker, easier to move and melee
Combat wise, drifter is slower paced. Code has stronger and more useful special moves. Ranged is also a better option in code due to unlimited ammo and strafing. Puzzle wise, Code focuses more on projectiles and is easier to execute compared to the hard to execute dash moves from Drifter. Drifter is also very dark, compared to how light hearted Code is.
If you have an alternative, DO NOT buy CrossCode on the Switch. The game is amazing but the performance is just atrocious, and it doesn't get much better even when disabling most of the effects. Very, very inconsistent framerate and occasionally the game slows down to an absolute crawl (it seems to happen when you hit enemies off screen). Moreover, I got multiple crashes towards the end of my playthrough. I cannot fathom how the game was pre-patches because I really wish I bought this one on the PC. I get that the game was especially difficult to port due to how it's in HTML, but come on...
So the slowdown and music hiccups as not just my experience. It’s to bad they had that I find the quests to be slightly irritable, you really have to learn south and west. At least they have a sign to detail who that person is Other than that, a good indie game
First impressions: That looks fun and charming Upon watching more: Generic and uninspired I’m sorry I’m sure it’s kind of fun. But that doesn’t cut it these days. Not when there are so many better games to play.
It really isn't though. Its puzzle solving is next tier, Its one of the best games I've played in recent years. It's really good, nothing generic about it, it goes beyond what its inspired from in my opinion.
Actually the combat is super fun, there's a lot to explore and every single puzzle is perfectly crafted. No regrets on putting 70+ hours on my first playthrough. And this comes from an RPG lover who's kinda bored from nowaday's RPGs.
It is generic, I agree. But at the same time, it isn't because of how unique some certain parts of it are. Many things are extremely generic, but the execution is somehow done so that it does not feel that way.
Cross code is free to play on Xbox when I played it it was boring it’s not like sword artline Nintendo Switch gives no new releases for free to play or try plus no achievements Xbox is the best console if you want to play new releases when I play on Nintendo I feel like I’m playing demo not full version

Update: the latest patch solves all these performance issues
In handheld Mode I have fps drop, but not in dock Mode. I have the physical version
It really doesn't. FPS is still all over the place.

Coming from the pc version.
This is a must play, gonna play through it again. Timeless masterpiece.
It's been my unchallenged favorite game for be 5-6 years.
@@virtueisdead FF9 used to be my unchallenged favorite, and I thought NOTHING would top it, then this game showed up

My advice if you’re going to play this game...Master the Perfect Guard!
The hedgehog roll attack is a good to practice on.
It makes the game ridiculously eas, if you can do it, but I never bothered with it.
@Johnny Tran Yes. Its great.
I would much rather have this game on my switch rather than PC. I'm hoping the mentioned issues will be patched out.
I'm hoping so too. I played this on pc super awesome game. I'm definitely getting it on the switch too
I do believe they're aware and working in the patches... Apparently because the original have was on html5, it had to be heavily engineered to run on consoles because they don't support html5 natively
@@GordonGordon So thats why it took so long for the game to finally be released huh, good to know.
@@GordonGordon im scared to think of the hacks they had to come up with to get it to work
The issues sounds like something they foresaw they still had to patch. maybe that's why the physical version comes out later?
Excellent review! Would've missed this is if wasn't for u. Thank you for ur time.
Just got it today. The attention to detail is phenomenal; I can’t wait to see the game play out. I never had any bugs or glitches
I never heard of this before, it looks awesome! Thanks for doing this review. I’m gonna check it out. Game Pass is a really good service.

Yea! Can't wait for this on July 9. Picking it up day one. Hopefully the ps4 version runs more smoothly
I just subscribed, currently binging your videos. Please include a playlist for Switch Games!

Since this is out now, has anyone noticed any differences in these technical hiccups between handheld and docked mode?
Will put this on my wishlist until a decent patch comes out

It's made in HTML5, a laughed in which a MacBook would excel at handling, but on a console like the switch it can struggle as it's not too optimal.

When at the 9th will it be available? Cause there isn't s preorder. Will it be available around midnight in Germany since its a German origin?
Heard so many good things about this game. Got too many games on the backlog so I’ll wait til this one’s on sale ☺️ can’t wait though!
the technical issues will probably get fixed, seeing as it took a lot of work to port the games, and I don't think they are going to not fix it when dlc is eventually coming to the game
Will this gat a day one patch?
I think I am going to get this. It was on my wishlist but then skipped it.
I wanna get this but I got days gone to play.... ugh backlog
Given that I have a Switch, PS4 and PC. Is there any difference? Which one should i get?

Looks like a good game, but I think I'll wait to see if they fix the issues with a patch or something.
End of social life for many people even in classroom/toilet/office
This has some hyperlight drifter vibes! Hopefully they fix it up because I'd love to play on switch
Combat wise, drifter is slower paced. Code has stronger and more useful special moves. Ranged is also a better option in code due to unlimited ammo and strafing.

If your hesitant. BUY IT.
srsly its amazing.
(Ideally on pc)
this looks very Ys inspired to me.
So like bloodstained. Should have issues, but it did with loading.
This game is so amazing and is an absolute hidden gem! 💎😍👌
there is already a huge update released
the game is now fine. and it has dlc a new hope
finally got team of 3 and the lag in combat is unplayable ☹️🎮👾🖥👾
If you have game pass I would recommend picking this up since it's free so why not.
Thanks for the tip 🙏🏾
Agreed. I’ve seen zero slow down on XBox. Loving this game.
I don't want it broken!

Poor Switch... chugging on a Super Nintendo game. 😅
How did thry fuck the switch version up? Its just a 16 bit 32 bit game smh?

It’s open world games?!?
I got the ps4 version
It's Hyper Light Drifter but a JRPG, is what it is.

For me, the combat was the best part of the game. Once you unlock tier 2 and 3 special moves the whole game changes

No challenge dull and predictable Ai,
plus there's not enough content.
Don't think you've played it. 30 plus hours, and most reviewers are saying it's tough.
LMFAO no challenge. What a joke. You haven't even played the game
This game's actually sort of hard, and pretty technical too. There are animation cancels and parrying, among many things.
Oh and the current content can last you 50 hours rush to finish the game, 80 if you do the sidequests
