  • A sampler scarf that is interesting for the knitter, and a good scarf for either men or women. Get your free pattern on my website here:
    verypink.com/20...
    I used KPC Novomerino Aran yarn in this scarf. You can see all of the colors available on the KPC website:
    www.kpcyarn.com...
    The needles I used are Knitter's Pride Platina, Knitter's Pride Royale, and Knitter's Pride Dreamz, each from 16" interchangeable sets.

    I just started knitting a couple weeks ago and am working on a basic scarf for myself right now. I can't wait to finish my current project and try to tackle this one! And yes, I do like fringe on my scarves and will be adding some to my current scarf :)

    By the time the intro was over I was on the KPC website and by the time the video was over my colors were picked and ordered! Thanks Staci! I can't wait to start this scarf. :)

      LOL - I didn't mention it in the video, but the yarn for this scarf is 50% off through Dec 11, 2016. So you got a good deal on the yarn! I hope you had fun picking your colors.

    Thank you for sharing this information. I think the three needle bind off woud be brilliant for putting the fringe onto without interfering with the pattern.
    I absolutely enjoy your tutorials and all the information that you share. Thank you for taking your time.

      I'm glad you told us the time it took for your order to arrive...I couldn't remember exactly how long it took (to Texas), but I knew it was quick! Quicker than some domestic shipments. Have fun with the project!

    Three needle bind off is my favorite. You taught me. Except now I cheat and use a crochet hook instead of the third needle. 😎 definitely going to give this pattern a try. Thank you. ❤️

    KatNo PraiseNoBlame. In answer to your question. This is the way I sometimes do a provisional cast on. I will take a skein of another color, (I call it waste yarn) knit so many rows, then start the main color. When I'm finished I will pick up the sts from the waste yarn and bind off or join to other end to make an infinity scarf. Depends on what I'm making. Hope this helps.

    Can you explain what to do about a loose tail after the provisional cast on? Once I have all 88 stitches of scrap yarn on the needle and work the first row of knitting, the first stitch (with the tail) stays pretty loose as I work. I have to keep pulling it tight as I work. Additionally, how do you pick that stitch up from the provisional cast on since it’s essentially a folded piece of yarn and not an actual stitch.

    Hi. First of all, thank you so much for these wonderful videos! I'd like to knit a scarf in the round with a fair aisle motif that requires an odd number of stiches. Can I still use provisional cast on? If so, how do I address the odd stitch? Maybe I'm over thinking it but thought it better to ask you before I make a mess of it. Thanks in advance!

    I'm not sure what everyone is talking about regarding the prices of the yarn. I just went and priced out exactly what Staci used and it comes to $130.00. That may not be bad for a sweater...but $130 scarf? I don't think so. I'll look for another yarm.

    Don't know if I'm just being stupid and this is going to be a really daft question but when binding off the beginning of the scarf do you have to re attach the yarn to be able to bind it off? I get really confused so easily when something is only half shown on one end, it's an awesome pattern though and im about to start section 7 but want to get rid of the provisional cast on before I started x

    Not sure I understand this pattern, is the whole thing knit as a tube?
    If so, does it have to be made that way? Seems it would be extremely heavy to wear.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is knit in a tube, and it would not translate well to a flat scarf. If you prefer a one-sided scarf, I suggest finding a different pattern that is designed flat.

  • @carterwallace2216

    Hi Staci! Do you have a good solution to fix an accidental yarn over? I am working on a cowl in the round with knits and purls and didn't want to have to tink back over 250 stitches if I could help it.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An accidental YO will show up in the work as a hole...I highly recommend ripping/tinking back.

    This video just popped up after I watched your gift bow tutorial. I knitted this scarf back in January with yarn I had on hand. But it's still on the needles (in June) waiting to be bound off because I moved on to a new project instead of coming back to watch how to bind it off!

    Hi, I'm new to knitting. Trying to understand this. Is the scarf folded in half vertically in the end? And if so, would this be a way to hide the threads from an intarsia design?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The scarf is knit in a tube, so yes - it is a way to hide the back of the work.

    in the info box you listed 3 different types/styles of needles that you used. how come?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You really just need 16" circulars, or you can use longer circular needles if you prefer to use the magic loop method. You'll also need an extra needle, same size, for the 3 needle bind-off. The extra needle can be any kind of needle - a circular, a double-pointed needle, or a straight needle.

    Would you need to work a correction for the colour change?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the color change is hidden in garter stitch ridges, and the beginning of the round eventually becomes the edge of the flat scarf.

    hi! I love your videos! I'm making this scarf now and I'm thinking I'm going to make another afterward, but I'm wondering if you can tell me how make it a bit more narrow without messing up any of the patterns..? the shadow chevron seems like it might be the trickiest area to cut out some width. I appreciate any help you can offer!

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The shadow chevron pattern is a multiple of 8 stitches, so you can decrease the cast-on number by any multiple of 8 and still have it work.
