I don’t know if you’re aware, but there are a huge number of crafty-type people who LOVE fur baby cameos in videos. While it makes filming challenging, it almost always provides enjoyable content when pets get involved. Lovely scarf, and tutorial, and your pup is so cute!!!
Thank you for saying so. :) It's funny, because I always shoot videos in the morning, and my dogs are always super lazy until early afternoon. But as soon as I start talking to the camera, they wake up and want to know what is going on! haha
I’m only just learning to knit, but I must make this little scarf! My dearest friend (93 years old 🥰) has been looking for this type of scarf, exactly. Thank you! 🧶🥰
This is a ridiculously fast project and looks great. I'm on my second one. I did one in variegated and the second one is solid. Both look good. Thank you, Staci!
I think you should do hand modeling, though you kinda are doing with your teaching. But, if you are old enough to remember, you would have been a good Palmolive soap model. Thanks for the tutorial. The black and white colorwork shawl in your background is lovely too!
@@miaw.9751 I just finished one holding a worsted and lace together (Simplinatural by HiKoo and Isager Mohair Silk Mohair). I have made a few with James C. Brett Marble Chunky. The only thing was, depending on the color, sometimes the repeat was longer than I would have liked. I have made others but can't remember all the yarns. In general, if the bulky is too smooth or has not much halo (that is, if it has high stitch definition), it was less successful because the scarf was too thin.
I use circulars for most of my projects, so when instructions say to place stitches on a stitch holder or waste yarn, I now use a small (interchangeable) cable with stoppers on each end. When I’m ready to go back to those held stitches, I just pop off the stoppers and put the needles back on!
Ordered! Was looking for some quick knits to give as gifts and this will certainly fit the bill especially here during the cold New York winters. Can't wait to get on my needles!
I haven’t seen your videos for a long time and I forgot how great they are. You are the best teacher. I remember loving that super stretchy, pointy baby hat you taught and it was the greatest thing. I’m going to suggest that a real beginner not use that multi-coloured yarn til they have made a couple of scarves, cause it’s a lot harder to see the stitches and where you are in the pattern.
I live fairly near Kramer Yarns so I love when you do a tutorial with their yarn. Ive been wanting to get to their shop some time and finally tried their yarn this fall for the first time I love it too! This Friday may be my day to get there! Do seeing this video today was a fun reminder! Might have to get a skein of the mixed yarn for one of these scarves!
I like a nice keyhole scarf and a broken rib is such a nice, easy thing to do that gives a project the look of something more complicated and gives it great texture too. I'm not much for chunky yarns but some patterns are just nicer done in it and this one is no exception it would seem.
What! Blow my mind !! I have been knitting for 35 years. I honestly have never heard that about getting the amount of yarn for the long tail cast on! Brilliant! Thank you!
Well I just added another item to my got to do list :-))))I love the pattern and yarn..actually just placed an order and cant wait to start...💞 btw your dog is so cute!!
After all these years, I really think now it's time for you to show us machine knitting. The straight and the round machines. There is also a new one that does all the work on it's own!
Bought my pattern and yarn! As soon as it arrives I will be following along with you, in this excellent video 🤗 Also, love your dog's cameo appearance ❤️
For those who want to keep the unworked half on the circular cable, hang a clippy marker on the first stitch of the 2nd half to remined yourself not to knit across while knitting the keyhole portion
That is exactly what I have been looking for! I have bought the pattern right away! I have some rich purple, slightly tweedy yarn in my stash which will be perfect. Thank you so much Staci!
I will be getting both the pattern and the yarn for a couple of these scarves, thank you! I, for one, appreciate you explaining the steps fully, so another thank you. Happy holidays to you.
When you weave in the ends at the keyhole, do you go above the hole or take it down around edge of hole? Love this pattern, doing three for my grandkids!
I love this scarf and I may have already found my next x-mas knit! Still finishing the last of 14 pairs of flip-top mittens. My question is on the edge of this scarf. Usually my “regular edges” look sloppy and uneven - I tend to use a “technique edge” on something I’m not going to join. What edge did you use?
Has anyone had a problem knitting this and not getting holes in the rows. I would love to make this but I have started over many times and I keep getting holes in the rows and I am knitting the right way. Thanks
I didn't know you lived in Texas!!!! This is a great gift item. I am sending it to a newly minted knitter that I know. We are both in Texas, too! Thank you so much! You are a wonderful teacher!
i'm new to reading knitting patterns. After completing the first section 13 times (9"), I go immediately to the middle section until garment reache 22"? When do I proceed for the middle section? I'm lost!
If you order the pattern alone, you will get a PDF download from the Kraemer website. If you order the pattern and yarn together, Kraemer will mail you a hardcopy of the pattern, but I'm sure you can get a PDF on request.
love your tutorial. just enough for the difficult sections, I bought the pattern and the yarn looks scrumptious!!I have so many ideas of who to make them for... hubby, kids, granddaughter, homeless (wider and with facecover)... a great pattern. Happy Thanksgiving.
Hey Stacy, will you be showing how to do whole pattern in video here? I wonder if I MUST buy pattern to make it, or can get enough here to make from you(for those in budgets)? I thank you for all your great videos!!
I block most all my projects but this one seems like I would not. Staci, what would you recommend? It seems it would be good to "open up" that middle section with some blocking, but I wouldn't want to disturb it's squishiness. Your thoughts?
This yarn is machine washable and dry-able, so there is no real need to wash and dry flat. All I did with my finished scarf was to apply some steam and square out the corners. You can see that my in-progress samples look really good with no blocking or steaming.
I think it’s important to say that, this cast on works extremely well for flickers and throwers. As a Continental knitter, the sling shot method is probably more comfortable. Either way, beautiful pattern and great tutorial! Your nails are so long! As one who has strong nails, long nail beds I still keep them short because they get in my way all the time. Have you tried tugging the yarn forward when doing your first Purl stitch? I’m going to swatch and see how that works. I can’t believe you didn’t do the Continental!! Lol I spoke to the video and said yes do it, lol. I’ll try flicking too. Too funny! Good for you Staci!💞
This is such a wonderful pattern! I was thinking about giving my mom a knitted scarf but she's not a fun of regular scarves but this cozy may be something she would like. My problem is that the yarn I have is Himalaya Velvet size 6 super bulky and I'm wondering if it's going to work with this pattern. I'm aware that the broken ribbing may not be so visible.
Any chunky/bulky yarn will suffice, trust me! If you've no access to chunky or heavy worsted weight yarn just double up 1 worsted and 1 light worsted and 1 DK strand held together which easily equal 1 Aran/heavy worsted together!

I like when you leave your mistakes in these videos. It makes me feel better about my own mistakes.
I totally agree. Confirmations that we all make mistakes and it is all good!
😆
Love the dog making a personal apperance.

I am so glad for a very detailed tutorial because the beginners are the one who enjoy the details. Thank you!
Very nice project! The dog was too cute.
I like this for my smaller grandkids who need those little necks warm but no long scarf ends. Xmas gifts here I come! 🥰
I’ve made 5 of these already in different chunky yarns. They are so fast and fun to knit! Thanks, Staci!
What other brands of yarn have worked for you? Do you stick with the brand suggested here? Thank you❤

Wow, very nice. I really like key hole scarves and this color pops. Thanks for sharing and by the way the color looks nice on you.

This is much nicer than the keyhole scarf I have been knitting.
Im not very good with words. But a big thank you for making my coming back to knitting and crocheting so much easier..

You have the most elegant hands and nails! I'm jealous.
I find those nails really distracting.
Aw! Elby came to visit!❤️
I love your videos, so easy to follow. I bought this, my second project from you! Thank you so much.

Beautiful pattern and I love the color thank you
Thanks for the long tail cast on tip. I’ve always had problems determining how long of a tail to leave. Seems so obvious now. 😄
Ohhh. I would knit a whole cardigan is just that broken rib pattern. It’s cold up here in Quebec, Canada!

For 60 years, I have been casting on my wrapping two fingers around the yarn, and putting the yarn on the needle.
Excellent video as always :)
I will be getting both the pattern and the yarn for a couple of these scarves, thank you! I, for one, appreciate you explaining the steps fully, so another thank you. Happy holidays to you.
Love your tutorials! You have pretty hands and nails, too! 🙂
When I tried to buy it didn’t give me the broken rib stitch. Once I get it get I print it. I don’t like to knit by reading on the iPad. Thanks.

I have a gray coat, what color gray do you think would show the design best with the yarn you are using. I want to buy some of that yarn. Thanks
Can you tell me what the stitch count for making it with a non- chunky yarn?
Has anyone had a problem knitting this and not getting holes in the rows. I would love to make this but I have

Hi Stacey can I use DK weight yarn. Too hot in South Africa for chunky yarn?

Have you tried knitting on one of those round knitting machines?
No, but my co-host on the audio podcast, Casey, is using one and she's been sharing her experiences on the pod.
What pattern is the scarf in your profile picture?
Clapotis.
Doesn’t seem to be available in PDF format which is a shame for us in England - nice pattern

I demonstrate the techniques here in the video, but you need the pattern to knit the scarf. The pattern is budget friendly at $3 US. :)
Great video thank you

Is a three needle bind off needed to make the keyhole or can it be done with two needles?
There is no 3-needle bind-off...it is all explained in the pattern.
@@verypinkknits I would need to buy the pattern to find that out but was not willing to spend the money before knowing that. Thanks.
I didn't answer one of your questions - yes, it can be knit on two needles (only).

Cast on how many stitches?????
Does the written pattern give the number of stitches needed (exp: c/o multiples of 4, etc) if You want to use a different weight yarn?
No, the pattern is written for the chunky yarn.
Where do I find the pattern and yarn for the mum's neck cozy?
Any chunky/bulky yarn will suffice, trust me! If you've no access to chunky or heavy worsted weight yarn just double up 1 worsted and 1 light worsted and 1 DK strand held together which easily equal 1 Aran/heavy worsted together!
Haha “a little something around the neck not a Lenny Kravitz-style scarf” 😂
