I've kinda gone through a similar thing, first of all I think your really mature and just such a dedicated person, I hope you are proud of your perseverance! I flopped the UCAT aswell but I geuinly hated revising for it, doing it, it made me so depressed and made me feel incredibly stupid, so now I'm studying the BMAT which is still hard obviously but it's much more suited to my learning style and it's wayy better to study for. Tbh I wanted to study medicine in y10 but it was so on and off , and it was only until after my work experience I had some balls to apply and take these exams, but even now I've put my foot down I still feel hesitant sometimes and I wonder if it's right for me, so I'm just gonna let the univerise take the reins and study hard for the BMAT. Also this video was so comforting, I hope everything works out for you! sending you all the best of luck, I'm so sure you will end up in somwhere fucking amazing, medicine or not.

hey, thank you so much, it is so comforting to me that someone felt exactly the same way i felt! i would constantly all the way through sixth form doubt my desire to study medicine, I would go on tik tok and see the way others were revising or their greater passion and therefore question my own. just like you, the work experience definitely pushed me to apply for medicine, but i still remember finding it so awkward when teachers in school would comment about my qualities in relation to being a doctor, when deep down i was thinking whether my interest was valid or was i just a high achieving student pushed to apply for a very hard course. then seeing the doctors strikes and people saying if youre wondering if you shouldnt study medicine, then you shouldnt made it even harder. i really wish this was talked about more often and more openly. but all in all i think this is an incredibly good thing as we are more aware to all the postives and negatives of the career and therefore when rough days come along you already half expected this and so there's no shock. i wish you all the best in your BMAT and in your application to medical school! x

thankyou for speaking about your experience, i am currently in year 12 and hoping to take the ucat some time next year 🙈 i think it's awful that an obscenely difficult exam which has almost nothing to do with your ability to be a good doctor (SJT excluded) or performance at medical school is a significant barrier to so many applicants, wishing you luck as you apply to pharmacy!

Gap year ganggg, got a job at the hospital and realised I have no interest in doing nightshifts, so I'm thinking of doing engineering, luckily I got A*AAA for alevels so it's not the end of the world, also flopped ucat twice

I declined my place for pharmacy to sit to med this year :/ didn’t do so well on the UCAT but still going to try. And pharmacy is my 5th choice so I’ll have that as back up

I really do think pharmacy would be a great career path, especially if you enjoy chemistry and maths! Although you dont think you got a good ucat score, I still think its very impressive. pharmacy is my backup to medicine. I done a pharmacy work experience placement, although I did not really enjoy the hospital side of it, I was very interested in the aseptics and industry aspect of pharmacy

hi, I'm sitting my ucat next week and am avergaing 2900ish on medentry, what do you think went wrong? I watched your last vlog and was so suprised to see this video, now i'm worried that I might drop from 2900 to 2600

Hi, that’s a very good question. Reflecting on it again, I feel like I still wasn’t confident enough with the sections. Maybe I should have given myself more time to revise, maybe my revision method was wrong and I should have done more full mocks. Maybe I just performed badly on test day or the other way round I surprisingly did well in that video. If that’s what you’re averaging consistently (as in have achieved over 2900 at least 5 times) I don’t think you’ll drop to 2600 x

I think you will thrive at pharmacy! Academic validation is so toxic because it makes failure so much harder we feel we have to conquer everything (I am speaking from experience haha) However pharmacy is an amazing degree that leads to incredible opportunities and good pay. Medicine is draining, stressful and not worth the pay at all. I think your interview and UCAT experience showed you may not do well in the pressurising environment of medicine. It's so fast paced and there's no time for tears on the wards lol. You're clearly super hard working and academic and I think you'll find pharmacy really interesting so all the best queen xxx

hey, thank you!!!!! at the end of the day, everything happens for a reason and i will probably enjoy pharmacy 100x more than i would have ever enjoyed studying medicine. well fingers crossed anyway haha x
