Major respect for your opinion on the drone stuff! All those videos on new drones are really just ads. And for not ditching your current drone even though it’s “broken”.
All the drones look the same until you get into the larger sensor sizes like on the Inspire or flying an actual camera on one of the big boys. I have the mini 2 and mavic 2 pro and if you expose them right they both look good.
It's nice to see the S5 getting some love from a big name on TH-cam. It's such an underrated camera and has been great at fulfilling my outdoor/travel video and photo needs.
Hearing about the "latest best drone" issue reminds me of pro video cameras 30 years ago. The commercial production industry standard was the gun-metal gray Ikegami HL79. Every year, they'd release a new iteration, often with a very small addition of a niche feature, but seldom any change in image quality. That didn't stop some creative directors from insisting you have the latest version. That foolishness drove up the cost of productions like nothing else since these cameras cost around $40k (plus lens.) Today, that camera would cost around $70K. Ikegami also had a much lower cost "industrial" grade camera that still had excellent images, but was painted bright orange. A friend of mine repainted his with the HL79 gray and no one was the wiser. Since he wasn't paying for a super expensive camera, he was winning contracts left and right.
I appreciate this video on multiple points. Especially the last one of “does gear matter?”. Probably my favorite gear video simply for how humble it is.
Love your setup, it's cool seeing someone run a more realistic setup where some stuff is broken but still in use because it works! I tried using the smaller LowePro 350 bag that's similar to yours and I found that it didn't fit my body very well. When I went out searching I gave up on the typical camera bags and instead looked at bags for hunting. I found this Eberlestock F3F FAC Track Pack (long name but great bag) that opens from the front and it's a night and day difference. I can climb mountains, go for really long hikes and it's super comfortable. Obviously the trade off there is carrying it through the city I get a lot of weird looks since it's a very "military looking" bag, but the functionality it top notch!
One of the most enjoyable film making/photography set up/gear videos I have seen in a long time. Frank, practical and actually useful information. The footage is awesome too !
Impressive to see you fit all that stuff into your bag! I have the same bag and I´m struggling to find the best setup to fit all my gear. Would be nice to see how you arranged the inside of your bag in another video! Keep up the good work!
I discovered your channel a few days ago and watched many of your videos and every time I was impressed by the way you work and the information you provide to us. I watched a lot of channels, but your channel is very distinguished, very wonderful, it deserves to be the first and best of the channels, and I am sure that the day will come when you will reap the benefits.Thank you Aidin. 🙏✊
The peak design back pack strap clip is one of the best purchases I've made in the last year. It's really nice having your camera at the ready but still able to keep your hands free...big fan, well worth it.
I really like your approach about gear that’s “good enough”. Like you said, no piece of gear is perfect. Anyone who is looking for the absolutely perfect setup will waste a bunch of money buying the most expensive gear every year. Meanwhile here you are with decently affordable gear making some of the best looking films I’ve ever seen.
I couldn't agree more with this. You don't always have to have to newest/best equipment. Take what you have or can afford and make it work. Great video!
First, English is not my cup of tea so sorry for the spelling and phrases structure. I am leaving a comment on this video but not for this video but for your work in general. I do follow a lot of creators and seen a lot of your vids and your work is way up there. The feeling and mood in your vids are unique. I have never seen another youtuber with the same vibe as yours. Nothing more to say then keep it up and you will get your zillion followers 'cause you deserve it. Love from Canada
Yes! Your opinions on the drones are super true! I do not like it how influencers always make better opinions on the newest gear! Me personally, I produce amazing photos using an old 12 year old camera. The Nikon D3200 is an amazing camera and is now very cheap. Although I refurbished it all with the newest repairs it's still amazing. I will be upgrading for a main camera but the Nikon will be the best back up cameras I will have. Me personally I do not have a dedicated camera bag, as when I travel I carry my MacBook with me to transfer photos do work and stuff, so if it is locally around the city I will take my leather computer bag, if its going overseas I use a normal Military day pack and it just holds everything perfectly.
Great video…I just discovered your channel. I am sure you already figured it out, but on the Peak Design tripod you can tighten the legs with an Allen wrench. Also I love LUMIX so cool to see you shoot with that. Also your color grading is epic.
Aidin, your video has far affected the Chinese video platform on the other side of the Atlantic. Bilibili is really a great film producer! I sincerely hope to have a chance to come to China and take a picture of the beautiful scenery of China❤️ Even if I pay the fare, hahahaha. I can't wait to meet you in China !!!
Dude, I love how much physical effort you put in every video and every intro, haha! And I find it interesting that you stuck with Lumix, I'm still hesitant to move away from the Panasonic system. Do you feel like the AF on the S5 is reliable (enough) or do you focus manually?
Good stuff! It’s always cool to hear how others view gear and why they use what they do knowing at the end of the day a camera or anything is just a tool. I’m still learning about film making and know there’s not a camera out there that can make me good on its own merits.
@@MichaelRichards983 Well, he didn't say many, he said he used them "at times". Maybe when you need some footage to tie you over to the next segment? Aidin seems more than capable of capturing his own footage (and indeed it seems he does), but I understand when and why you'd need some fillers. Hope he can chime in and provide a proper answer.
I'm sure someone else has already suggested this, but I have the exact same tripod, with the exact same issue. You can actually get a hex / allen key that fits the brackets on the releases of the tripod and tighten them down. It'll realistically buy you a couple of months before the problem starts to happen again, but it's better than replacing the whole tripod. Don't over tighten them though or it'll be IMPOSSIBLE to close / open the releases. Ask me how I know.
Absolutely wonderful bro, really to the point without beating around the bush..I really love and admire your openness and clear view points regarding these topics..pure gem 💎
That's one of the biggest thing to learn : the gear you're using is just a tool. It can help you raise your limits, but if you don't have the latest camera, latest drone, but you do have the skills, you can do much more than some people who invest crazy amount of monney in their gear. Furthermore, I think you learn way more by using cameras/drones that have less technology, because you're facing problems and have to find solutions by yourself!
Love the message Aidin! I was so convinced on buying the R6 back in 2020 that I caved and bought it, and I've gotten used to it now and still love the camera, but I have maxed it out spec wise with a battery grip (which is helpful in many situations but annoying in others), and an external recorder so I can do prores for my talking heads. It's great to get comfortable with your gear, like you said, and I've done that and now I'm focusing on fine tuning the results. I'm working on getting a prime trip because I love the look and challenges of using prime lenses, which you seem too as well. I've got the Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS and 24mm f/1.4L so far... Hopefully will be picking up a 35mm sometime soon. I wish there was an L series 14mm or ultra wide prime with a wide aperature, because the EF 14mm is f/2.8 and has poor image quality, so I'm kinda eyeing that sigma. I got the ND filter drop in adapter for my lenses which has been a pro. Like you said it's all about finding what works for you. I'm still rocking my now 4 year old Autel Evo to this day 😂 BTW the fog at the tower was crazy! 🌫️🤯
I have the lowepro 450 flip side or something. I cut off the hip straps they got so annoying. Still in search of a bag that has more room for like a change of clothes and a few more bottles of water.
The only thing i saw missing was a compass, though these days we do have compass in our mobile phones and smart watches, still it is good to have a compass with you.
How did you secure your camera when you got those forward and backward facing shots out the window while driving? Tripod locked down inside the back of the car? I love your videos! Everyone inspires me to get out and film!
Duuuude, not using an ND filter is music to my ears. I’ve been filming with an ND filter to keep at 1/50 shutter, and after a while I’m tired of the blur, especially when handheld vlogging. And I have no idea what I’m doing 99% of the time 😅 so I’ve been trying to understand if professional folks like you always use an ND. Thanks for sharing!!
Great video and tips as always man - love the message. For my whole time having a camera I thought I’d never want a GoPro, then I used one for random b roll on a road trip and now I really want one haha. Always refining and experimenting 👊
So much like to watch your videos, like the color grading style and the relaxing feelings it gives, just wondering how you use the natural light when filming, any special gear used for lighting or any tips suggested? Thank you! Aidin
Great video man! Regarding the peak design tripod, I had the same exact issue a few months ago. Contacted their support team and you can tighten up the legs with the included tool. It’s super simple and works like it originally did. Hope this helps!
Dude, amazing sound design! Are you using a clip on mic near you shoes? Very nice and organic foley for your walking-sounds. I need to know how you do this!

I think more important is to have a mini drone, and a larger more stable, multi lens drone. Keeping a backup is always a good idea. They do crash.

You ain't kidding with the 'perfect drone" "perfect camera" stuff! Lol. Appreciate the video!
@Aidin the tripod thing is super easy to fix bro. I had the same issue - you can tighten the screws and it won't collapse like that anymore.
was down here looking to see if anyone else mentions this!
Aidin is my favourite creator. I love how he is on point on every topic. No hiding , just real facts
Bro you need way more attention. These videos are all so well done.

What a refreshing way to do a What's in My Camera Bag video. Well done.
Thank you very much, showing the non-film items you carry was very helpful!

Really like this, mate. Just a tip re the Peak Design - just tighten the legs every now and then. Greetings from Australia. 👍🦘
1 minute in and I’m already Diggin it big time. Great composition.
Hey aidin please make a colour grading/breakdown of shots of this video in shorts this will be very helpful

Aidin, this is so well done! Quick question: where was this filmed? It's absolutely gorgeous!
I think it could be Fryingpan mountain lookout tower
For those who do not know where the heck Fryingpan mountain is, it's in Canton, NC.
Remember, many of the shots aren't actually his, they are Artgrid. I think less of him now.
