After watching this video, I wonder if Clement Vallandigham had any contact with Lambdin P. Milligan of Huntington, IN? Milligan had also been arrested for being outspoken against Lincoln and the war. I wonder if Burnside's General Order also caught Milligan? Milligan's story might make a good video.

@@greatlakestraveller9703 One more piece of the puzzle to add... Because Milligan was a practicing lawyer, while he was in jail waiting to be executed he somehow got the Supreme Court to review his case and they rules in favor of Milligan stating that since the civilian courts were still operating that civilians could not be tried in military courts, which is what caused Milligan to get arrested in the first place. It's a really interesting story. I have pictures of Milligans grave if you want them. TTYL

Okay you are missing the important history. Vallandingham gave speeches in Congress stating that the real reason Lincoln was prosecuting the war was to establish a central bank. In other words the real reason for the Civil War was to have a central bank. Lincoln passed the national bank acts of 1863, 1864, and 1865 which created a national banking system and a national currency.

I think you may have totally missed the point of this video. It was not to give a definitive biography of Vallandigham's life. At less than 9 minutes, that would hardly be possible. This was to show some of the local places that had a connection to him, and just enough info to hopefully give the viewer an interest in learning more. Also when it comes to his speeches, he was certainly allowed to his opinions, but he was hardly the last word on the subject...
