A friend of mine swam in the river at Buffington Island in the mid 1980's. He talked about sliding down boat loading ramps into the river. Even said back then there were still cannon balls on the island.
It's true that there were other engagements in the state during the raid, but they were considered skirmishes rather than a true battle, due to their size / number of troops involved. Buffington Island is the only one regarded as an actual "battle".
Update: I keep forgetting to post this. After doing more research, it appears that the "Battle of Salineville" wasn't really a battle at all - just a series of running skirmishes as Morgan was desperately trying to reach the Ohio River to cross it. By this time, his troops were seriously depleted.
@@greatlakestraveller9703 You are leaning too hard on a far from consensus view of the meaning of the word "battle." Why get hung up on the semantics of "battle." Farthest North is an agreed measure - and you got that, just drop the "only" in the reference to Oho on grounds of not trying to be too attention grabbing, click baity etc. in this era where we are expected to treat every statement from every one as the sales pitch of an unctuous used-care salesman. In short, why start out with click bait in the title?
