She won Norway's Got Talent at 8 years. And it seems you and her had the same "calling". She started singing at the same time she learnt to sing.

She also sews most of her outfits, does all her own musical arrangements, & goes barefoot, because she met a young girl when performing one day, who had no shoes & could not afford to buy any, so Angelina gave her the shoes she had on, & in memory of the girl, & poverty, she continues to goes barefoot! What can I say, except this young girl, is an inspiration, an amazing talent, has a huge compassionate heart, & the world is a much nicer place to be, with her in it !!!

I love when reactors or sometimes actors watch this video of AJ, because they start out looking into the camera to show the viewers that they are interested. But once they hear her 1st phrase they get shocked and actually start paying all their attention to AJ while forgetting the viewer briefly. And really that's what a reaction should be. When you watch some of her covers with her brother playing guitar...if you can literally 'watch' her and not close your eyes while she sings...I know hard to do, but if you can? You'll notice that to her other side she keeps looking over...it's because she is READING the lyrics from her computer screen as English is her 3rd language and she didn't know the songs. Then you'll really go "Oh LAWD!" her talent is just way more than initially understood. I get kicked in the feels every time I listen to her sing. :)

This in homage to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, the original writer and singer of 1956. Certainly not many adults know him, certainly the only little girl of 9 years in the world who knows him and who also thinks of singing him without any fear is Angelina, from Norway. ❤️
You are a singer so you can understand it well, the approach is certainly not that of Nina Simone. If you compare it to Hawkins' original song you realize what a great job she has done on the lyrics and on the way to sing them, suggesting the author's style, but without chasing his extreme scenographic forms, she just needs to use her voice .. all done by a 9 year old girl! 🤩 ❤️ The bare feet are a choice she made at 7 years in favor of all children who cannot afford shoes, she decided that she will always sing without shoes, and she is doing it again, every time, after 7 years.
Always Angelina, in the approximately 130 songs that she has recorded in 7 years, she has tried her way and her version of the songs, at times almost changing them, as in AGTC, at other times simply by changing the times or the reading keys, but always based on her ability to understand and elaborate the song which, for a girl of that age, is almost supernatural. She simply loves to sing and does it her way and she understands very well what he does, more than many adults.

It’s kind of unfair to have a reactor to Angelina start out with I Put a Spell on You. She is amazingly talented-really off the chart. In this song, she is recreating the sound of the original artist, Screamin Jay Hawkins when he performed in the 1950’s. But you’ll see when you watch other performances that she covers many genres beautifully. She has jazz in her bones, but her voice and style changes to fit the song.
If you want to hear Angelina doing something so completely different from this, start with her cover of A Million Years Ago (an Adele song) or Stay (a Rihanna song) and I guarantee you will be stunned at Angelina’s versatility. Her voice is absolutely mesmerizing in an acoustic setting with just a guitar backing her. After you listen to one of those, then you’re on your own because you’ll want to choose from over 100 songs on video. You don’t realize it now, but you’ve found one of the best singers in the world.
No one notices ever. But the candle at the beginning has a picture of him on it. I think that is used to help channel him in the song. Lol

Based on everything you talked about in this reaction, I can tell you will absolutely love reacting to Angelina's other stuff. As others have already said, there's a *lot* of it. (People always say ~130 songs, but not all of those are available in versions worth reacting to. Honestly, how many of you guys, the first time ever you watched this performance, registered that Angelina has two different mikes here? I was so shocked the first time I saw this performance a few years ago, that I missed that. The second time though, I registered it. Nice touch with that old mike, I give them that. Like most music videos, the sound track was created first, quite likely edited together from several takes. The video itself was shot in several takes, using the audio track as the sync guide. I understand it took several months to finalise it.

That _can't_ be right… (I know the audio on that one was very nearly a single, uninterrupted take [video of a playback listening session reveals that just a single mistake had to be corrected], but still… the video description says, "We recorded this yesterday". How can that be??)
@@ooshta If you knew anything about studio recording you would realize that the footage where Angelina is in a separate booth was shot as she recorded the audio track, same as when you see the piano and the horn section also in their separate recording booths, also shot while recording the audio. The scenes with Angelina and the band all together where the vintage microphone is used) are just "theater" for the sake of making an interesting music video.
I don't see why these facts would be some sort of "hot potato" tha omepeople feel an urge to contest. I mean - this is how you do music videos, and it doesn't take away any of Angelina's talent or the skill of the musicians ... it's just the way it's done.

There might be weeks and months from finalizing (and even uploading) a video before it's made public on youtube. Could be several reasons for delaying the publication, f.ex. if you wan't to give your _patreon_ supporters an pre-release viewing or you wan't to release the video synced to promote the publication of the recording on other platforms like iTunes and Spotify

They brought her back in AGT Champions to perform “Someone You Loved” as special performance with two other past artists. The amazing young violinist and the incredible storytelling sand artist.

She was 8 when she recorded that song! After winning the x factor I believe it was at 7 years old!!!!! She did Summertime for her first song to the judges and blew them AWAY!!! This was a tribute to the man on the cup Anglina held at the beginning of the video. his name is Screaming Jay Hawkins released in 1956. He was thought to have been into Voodoo so you should really check him out than you will see how she came up with her version.

If Dimash has received good genes,both his parents being singers+ crazy amount of work he put into getting the control he has,he sadly doesn't really have a unique timbre/voice texture that is just out of this world,if he had even that then it would truly be unfair for the rest of singers in the world.Angelina is his opposite in that...she received among the most amount of natural raw talent and unique voice texture maybe once in a century singer...plus the fact she has no training to be able to perform what you see in this video and other of her most oldest videos...she truly is one of the most talented people on the planet right now in terms of her timbre+natural musical intuition when she arranges her songs.

!BEWARE! this is a long comment and I hope you have the patience to read to the end. You have a new subscriber! Thank you for discovering and reacting my favourite singer.. Angelina re-arranged it for the performance. She does this with many of her cover songs. Her fans call it "Angelinafying". Others have filled you in about the origin of the song. So, I'll just comment on the fact that after that very long note at the end if the performance she went from a child with extraordinary powers to sing as emotionally as a singer with years and years of experience to a young child, who puts her fingers to her chin and possibly thinks "I wonder whether I can improve this"
My introduction to Angelina was on her first appearance at Norway's Got Talent and I didn't expect much from a 7 year old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over or forgetting her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". What did I see? Well, it was a seven year old child, with wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were Baby teeth. And that was when the normal perception ended and things turned upside down. She confidently answered the questions put to her by a Judge. Declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Gestured off stage for the technician to start the music and then started singing. The body of the 7 year old was still there but the voice wasn't. Or was itt? I was surprised then and that surprise is still with me, some six years later.
I have followed her career since I saw that first video on TH-cam and in the six years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz,Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers,like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Lana del Ray, Gloria Gaynor, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others. What is more extraordinary is that she takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. You will notice that she never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. And I'll add an even more extraordinary item for you to consider, to show how unique she is. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener.
As I have noted above, I have been following her career a long time and have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What stands stands out for me is how a very shy and humble girl in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing, once she starts to sing.
Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody. Angelina Jordan was born in Jan 2006. She is currently 16 (barely 9 in this performance)
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through TH-cam videos and studied all greats from Jazz history.
- When Angelina was 6, she was traveling and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. The girl complimented her on her pretty shoes, so Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public she is barefoot. (that's a shortened version. the full story is more touching than the way I have told it here)
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the money, the 8 year old replied "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 80 songs over the last 5 years, everything ranging from old classics to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, and many more. All of which heard her doing covers of their songs and were blown away.
- Angelina has written three of her own original songs (at 12 years old): "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.
