Yes, spiders can navigate their webs and remember where they store their food, which suggests they can recognize their own webs. Spiders also use their webs for other advanced mental tasks, such as problem-solving and memory
Honestly, I don't think it was a light issue. She didn't stop digging during the later time lapse despite lights being on her. I think they just need time to acclimate to new enclosures. Yanno, explore, discover, and decide on what they want to do and where.
when a camera focuses it emits infra-red rays to get correct range. spiders can sense the infra-red and can get very shy to it. which is why they seem camera shy sometimes.
Petko, I love your style. I love seeing you move around the camera and lights, your authentic reactions to real life situations. Keep it up and other TH-camrs - take note!!
This dude need our help to make 1M sub. Just look at the efforts of making videos about exotic animals. I'm your number fan since episode 1 until now I'm still counting on you. Hope you will make it. Just keep it up❤️
I could feel your frustration, Petko. They NEVER do what you want! Especially when you're working with limited time. You did your best. This is ALL her fault, lol!
ants-canada uses red film on the enclosures so he can look inside and ants still think it's dark .... maybe your red light has wavelength that the tarantula still can see
couldn't agree more, that's the highlight of mine and my sons Monday, My son Jordan loves watching petkos videos, we must of watched all the them so many times I've lost count😂, But u don't mind through my son Jordan is terminally ill😢 he's still young. But watching petko on here helps Jordan get through his chemotherapy on Mondays😊. we love you petko, love lisa and Jordan from the 🇬🇧💜. Jordan has a jumping spider in the one of your enclosures I brought him. I think he loves the enclosure more 😂
I really like the content where you test tarantula limitations like digging and the water experiment! I am glad your doing more fun content like this one😂
when i was a kid i used to go out on nightwalks to see wildlife, we mostly saw possums and we were told to put red cellophane over our torches so as not to affect their vision, it's a cheap way to turn any lighting you have red and you can easily use multiple layers until you're satisfied with the effect
I use a Tapo c200 surveillance camera with night vision to observe my pets in the dark. I really recommend it :) You can watch and record through your phone. The camera is around $25-30 (you'll need a micro sd card though).
I think the red light wasn’t a problem she just explored her new place for a while but you could always try a night vision camera. That would be very cool
Those multicolor LEDs emmiting always more colors than just red. Had the same Issue with my Poecilotheria metallica. I Taped red Electrictape over my kamp. After that she emerged under the redlight.
See what had happened was you didn't add the sand for texture so she knew you weren't done with the build so she was going to wait until you finished to start digging. This is obviously your fault. That beautiful baby can't possibly be blamed! LoL
Maybe you need a camera with night vision? And I would definitely buy your substrate mixture 🙂 I only have 1 tarantula so I need very little substrate.
Hello, what sort of light is that please petko? And where can I get my mum to get me one from in the 🇬🇧 please?Thank you. JJ...... aka Jordan, Lisa's son 🦎🕸🕷🦂🦗🪱
Sounds like the Redl ight made her think she was in a dakr burrow and didn't want to dig. So you might want "white light on top" while red light films from the side. To make her feel threatened from predators :P

Tarantulas digging burrows is so cute, I love watching them carry their dirt bundles and take union breaks.

Hi Daniella,
Do you know if there is a UK alternative to the Tapo c200? I'd be very grateful for you're answer. T.I.A
UPDATE: I've just looked at my camera in my hallway and realised I have something very similar to the Tapo c200
you should try night vision next time! bet that would be sweeeeet!
Petko is there a chance to name the good growing plant that you used? Thank you.
I grew up watching you man i love each upload

Hi Petko, great video, greetings from Dalmatia!
My vonwirthi is an exceptional burrower! In a new fossorial enclosure and is making large burrows overnight

What about infrared lights, can they see them? Loved the video
With reptiles snakes specifically, we have seen that they can see red light. I wonder if it's the same for your animals.

What plant is that petco?

how do you determine how much space is appropriate for the spider or tarantula? not just the burrowing ones but in general.
"Grows like weed."
I know, I know. 🤣
