I've been meaning to make this for some time now, but I was moved to do so rather suddenly when a friend started putting together a beautifully rendered imagining of the Forest Temple in Unreal engine. I've already done two other covers of "Forest Temple" from Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, but this one, I think, is a little bit closer to Koji Kondo's original aesthetic, whereas the other two I sort of took in a different direction. For some odd reason, the Forest Temple theme always made me think of the passage of time and coming of age. This is Link's first real test as an adult, and I can't shake the eerie feeling I get with the thought of how time continues to pass ruthlessly on, and yet this song remains timeless. Like many of our beloved Zelda soundtracks of course, but this one really stands out for me.

@@IronicRyan I think that's the eeriest part - you find all of the temples as child link. You can see them there, and it's you revisiting your childhood and finding something new. Or dark, in some cases.

"Enchanted" indeed... it's not disturbingly uncanny like the original, with the same melody you made it into something else but I can't find the right word for it. It's not joyful, it's not exactly relaxing either because it still has a somewhat eerie feel to it... It feels like some entity made the temple more attractive and engaging, but it doesn't feel like it's a completely "positive" enchantment... like if there was still something wrong behind the temple. But that may be because the original was a bit scary and the melody reminds me of it. I think it would fit a dungeon where the player doesn't exactly know if he must be admiring the strange scenery or if he should instead remain on its guard
Either way it's my favorite temple music from OOT so I'm glad you remixed it again! Definitely my favorite one, of the three you made
I like your take on it! More relaxing, perhaps, than some other dungeon tracks, but certainly not without its foreboding qualities.

I don' see what's so scary about the forest temple. I love it. It's so peaceful and calming to me. The shadow temple is what scared me.
if they were to remake oot in a modern engine with an hd soundtrack this is what i would want it to sound like. this is cool.
That's one of the greatest ideas I've heard in my life, a super HD version of Ocarina with remastered tracks like this one.

That imagine with it is so mesmerizing. It’s that part in the beginning of the temple that at first you don’t know whether you’re still outside or inside. I guess that’s what they might have been going for since the temple is supposed to confuse you.
Oh my god, when I listened to your iteration of this song, I felt a sense of nostalgia. As I listened on, my heart heard the vocals and I could see every corridor, especially the twisted and straightening ones that messed with my mind little by little. The pattering and beating of what I believe to be the light beating of drums remind of Link's running through the temple as he rushed through the temple, and in and out the Door of Time. The song in a whole let me recall the mystery of a place that when I was little, I was a little shook to even enter, but as I progressed, I recognized the beauty and mystery of that great mansion. And the haunting and dark secrets that lie within. Than k you for sending me back in time to my childhood, and reminding me of the joy I feel playing that game again and again as an adult. Truly appreciate this work!

The heart and spirit put into this game is real, for a lot of us, I think it felt more real that a lot of the other culture we grew up around. Growing up with this compared to reality tv is a huge difference. uwu

This remix adds upon the feeling of "there's something wrong here" from the original track. Both have the same eerie vibe and a bit of an "enchanting" feeling, but what all that's going on in this remix, it gives a greaater feeling of uneasiness. It kinda makes me think of mermaids (or sirens idk how you call it). Of how they lure u with their beauty and their song but if you're a person that isn't enthralled you can tell there's something wrong going on with the picture (which is the mermaid/siren luring the poor traveler to a trap before tearing him apart, like zelda temples often try to do lol)
I see what you're talking about. There is definitely something almost akin to a fey glamour about this song.

Mysterious, mystic, slightly ominous, enchanting, somewhat hypnotic; every instrument you utilized (strings, wind, chimes, choir, glockenspiel, harp, etc.) ties everything together seamlessly! Enchanting is right. This definitely gives off magical and mysterious forest vibes and it's why I love the forest temple so much. It's a true adventure. A coming of age. Literally you're an adult now. Exploration time but stay on guard. I get mad when I have to fight in this temple because the music goes away into the battle theme it just ruins the atmosphere of calm and unease that this song makes. It's so incredible that this song brings out such contrasting feelings.
It's definitely my favourite dungeon in the series!

This Temple was so strange and mysterious to me as a kid, ill always remember the twisting hallway as one of the most eerie parts. Like what just happened haha. This music is so good im gonna listen to it while playing next time I boot up the old 64.

The forest temple theme is my favorite track from OOT and you managed to make a cover of it that is now my favorite version.
The original one had this sinister ambience to it but I really like how your rendition sounds more pleasantly magical and enchanting.

I have listened to this remix shortly after you uploaded it and realized I never actually commented on it 😳. I love it! It takes nothing away from the whole mystical and gloomy'ish feeling and just let's it sound a bit more deeper I think. A slight touch of happiness added without taking away the dark and sinister vibes. Just making it even a bit more psycho than it already is.

This is just perfect. Hunting eerie and unsettling music, but at the same time relaxing and peaceful. This "remix" or "cover" just amplifies it, both not touching the pure essence of the track and taking it to another level. Really mysterious and... *Good*

That's my favourite forest temple remix. It's my favourite track from the game, and you made a so beautiful version of it, I would love to see an enchanted forest in a Zelda game, i mean, there has been some already, kindof, but a true one, would be so beautiful.

I need a rom hack of ocarina of time with your music integrated into it in the proper areas on repeat hahaha. This straight up makes me want to play the forest temple right now!! One thing I loved about that temple was the overall atmosphere of it, and I think you captured that perfectly. Being a fan whose spent countless hours inside the temple, I definitely have the original soundtrack burned into my head lol.

This temple a little frightened me when I played the first time but I keep of it one very good memory. Maybe that the voices are for something there by giving the feeling to be accompanied through this temple. It's a pleasure to return to this temple with your music :)

I love it! this is my favourite dungeon of the game despite its "Fun House"/ "haunted house" flare, and eerie vibe. I always get nostalgic when I listen to the music.
Thank you! You know, it also has a LOT in common with the Celtic concept of the Underworld. All the "fun house" stuff can also be associated with things like shamanic travel and various "tribal" ideas about entering other worlds. I find that when I reskin it like that, it becomes more sophisticated.

The theme of the dungeon and the music is nothing but one thing: Nature is mystifying, enchanting, wondrous, and scary; be wise and leave it alone.
This is amazing, it captures the essence of the track perfectly. I like that it's not overly orchestrated with huge string and brass sections. Remakes of old game soundtracks make that mistake way too often. Not everything needs to sound like Mario Galaxy.

Just discovered you and your videos. This was the first I found, and solved my problem of choosing what oot dungeon music is my favorite lol it was this or the spirit temple. I like to imagine this is how I heard the original when I first played way back when.

I remember back in '99, when a friend showed me a preview of the new Zelda game, and the Forest Temple was the first place I saw. Ever since, an impression of the forest area has stuck with me in my psyche. There is something immensely special about it, and this version of the song you have composed has managed to bring it back to full clarity.
Beautiful!! We are in sync! For me, it was the water temple! :D I associate the water temple with the feeling of childhood joy. I feel so mystified and enchanted by it.
Maybe you have a thing for oceans in the way that I have for forests. I'm so glad that someone associates the water temple with something other than frustration! Of course, it took me forever to realize that the floor panel in the central column raised along with the water levels.

Trying to remember my favorite temple. I think the Forest, Fire, and the Spirit were my favorites.
They don't make them like this anymore.

There was definitely quite a difficulty spike going from Jabu Jabu's Belly to the Forest Temple but I never got bored or irritated about it just due to how pretty everything in the temple was even with the dated graphics. I mean seriously that temple is MASSIVE!
