Red and pink have always been in my color palette all year round. I love big sleeves, & highrise wide leg pants. I wear what I love. For me, personal style is better than keeping up with trends. However, when my favorites are trending I use it as an opportunity to refresh my wardrobe.
My new philosophy this fall has been to "semi-retire" certain categories that are still in great shape, fit well, and flatter, but that I'm bored of - like my many skinny jeans. So I'm just putting them to the back of the closet until I miss them, and I'll put them back into rotation. too many times I've tossed items I got bored with and then later wished I hadn't. Sometimes they are hard to find later. Fashion is cyclical. We like new creations, and sometimes new ways of styling older things. In high school in the 70's we were all into 1940's looks - flowers in our hair, red lipstick, platform shoes, hair buns, but also short jackets such as we are seeing now in trendy fashion. So I'm enjoying the nostalgia x nostalgia
I am 49 yrs old and never used to be a shorts person, but now that I live in a very hot climate, shorts make sense! I bought a pair of eggshell Bermuda shorts a couple of years ago and they’ve been worn on repeat. They’re knee length and can be dressed up with a platform heel or loafer and a cropped jacket for the office. I also picked up a beige pleated shorts and longline blazer set (blazer ends about the same spot as hem of shorts) last year that has had lots of wear - so good for casual meetups and events when you want to look polished, but not overdone. Cuffed dark denim shorts with a 5” inseam are my go to casual shorts on weekends.
A trend of five years ago or so that is a classic for me is the pleated skirt, long or short. I love these too much to give them up, trending or not. The same for my silk slip skirts, they are some of my basics. I stick to mostly classic styles, but I like to know what the trends are so I can pick my favorites, most trends are just refreshed classics anyway. Pretty much any possible idea has been used many times before.
I don’t want to wear what everyone else is wearing. I want to look classy and appreciate this channel to learn what looks flattering and why. Would love more advice about the optimal length of different types of pants. Have been trying the ankle length but they make my legs look stumpy! And I’m pretty tall- 5’10”. I don’t get it 😔
Hmmm that's interesting. What shoes are you wearing with your ankle length pants? Sometimes if your shoes are too chunky they can make your legs appear shorter!
Thanks for the good videos. I am now 77 years old and still wearing pieces from my youth. Buy the best you can afford ,make a pattern block, take a pattern from a garment that suits you and make it up carefully you have an original. I am still doing that so is my daughter and my grand daughter at 14 is started. Style is timeless fashion fades.
Hold on I'm coming by Sam & Dave is the music theme of this content. You know I am a complete fashion hoarder because not getting rid of anything of the fashion style that I have accumulated through the ages. At age 61, I seen them come and go. I still wear them because I like them. The pencil pants date waaay back with celebrities making them their fashion statement from Audrey Hepburn, Mary Tyler Moore, Lucille Ball just to name a few. So I love adding to my collection during thrifting with textured or printed pairs. Thanks for sharing and ta ta for now!
I’ve found this past year and looking forward, I like wearing skirts of all lengths. Denim, satin, wool, side, middle even back slit are all great to me. Also bc I’ve gained a good 15+ lbs they just look better on me then my typical jeans or pants.
Yay! Thanks for posting this video. I've missed you! Love that color on you! This video couldn't have come at a better time as I have been going through my clothes to donate what I don't wear anymore. I will hang on to my cropped blazers, statement belts and unique cut out tops.
I think, nobody should be such a fashion-slave and declutter things which you like and which fit you, just because anybody tells you, that they are not in anymore. Buy only things you really love and then you will wear them as many years as you like.
I know I was never going to get rid of my high waisted jeans and slacks no matter what. Having the waist at the waist is just normal. Low rise is the trend that comes and goes.
yeah for the capri pants!!! Saw some metallic ones at Ralph Laurent last year, and was just waiting for then to get more available… so classy instead if worn right, and not as MuMu mid-calf… 😊 and pastels for spring is just as ground-braking as flowers for spring - always a classic spring symbol, if it goes with you skin color - great video. Very practical !
Dear Ms Leonie, I am so grateful for this video of yours! You reinforce the joy of embracing what we have and hold on to those pieces! Sustainability and not buying....(what we do not need, is what we should do ).... Thank you Ms Leonie! helene :)
Wow. Totally worth tuning in if only to see the way you are wearing your outfit! I am definitely going to use the diagonal truck with my gathered skirt. Thanks
Thanks for your new video! I love your videos and hav a lot of use of them. This too. No, I don’t use shorts so much; more dresses. Thanks for that you always update me on the coming trends. /Marie from Sweden
I only wear Bermuda shorts all summer. I wear them if they’re in or not. My legs are too dimply for short shorts. I have some that are actually longer than I normally wear. So maybe I’ll be in style soon. But not until it gets warmer then they’ll probably be out again. I have lots of belts. But I don’t usually wear them anymore. My middle is my worst part. But they are still in my closet.
Love Bermudas at 72 I find the tailored variety very flattering but very difficult to find .They all seem to come with an elastic back that quite frankly makes your bum look big.If only we could get some that look like the ones seen in the old movies made with a proper waistband and pleated front .Thanks for sharing your views on next years fashion
I avoided wearing shorts for a long time, but I finally found a style I like. The cut needs to be very boxy and the length is not too long or short, maybe mid-thigh or a bit shorter. If the shorts are tight around my thigh it looks terrible, but they are boxy it makes my thighs look small in comparison.
Fantastic video! Recently, I had to clear a few items due to bad fit, serious wear due to use (to the point it no longer was presentable) and random damage sustained. Some direct replacements and wardrobe gap filling is required. The high waisted trousers I’d been eyeing for the longest be out of stock! Pyjama trends anyone?
I love the bermuda shorts, but hate the pedal pushers! I'm 56 but I wear shorts every summer. I wouldn't wear really short ones in summer apart from at the seaside, but theres no way I'm going to wear long trousers in the summer if its really hot, whatever my legs are like!
I really like the outfit you are wearing in this video! I've started wearing a similar monochromatic top/silky-knit jogger pant. It's almost a uniform for me now. It gives me the look of a jumpsuit without the inconvience of having to completely undress to use the bathroom. I don't wear shorts for a combination of reasons. I don't find them comfortable in truly hot weather & I don't like showing my bare legs. I prefer a linen or gauze wide leg pant in the summer or a flowy maxi summer dress. I never understood the negativity towards capris. I've always liked gauchos & knickers. Just below the knee is a classic length for a skirt or dress, so why not pants? Especially since most women feel confident with their legs from the knee down...just keep the silhouettes you like, they always come back.
I will never part with any of these looks... except for the Bermuda shorts! I could never adjust to the feel of the thought of how they look on me. Very insightful!
Hey! It would be interesting if you make video about how you stay in shape in terms of nutrition and exercise/activity, like What I eat in A Day or similar :)
Love all , bleu color yes, dresses over pants, cut outs, belts, ….and high rise🙌🙌🙌finally feminine and elegant, except bermuda shorts and cropped pants 🤪Have a blessed day🙏❤️
I like the dresses over pants trend but I'm not as big a fan of the Bermuda shorts. I love the metallics and, Yes, to the Olympics. I rarely throw anything away so I'm good. Baby blue is so fun!
Hi Leonie, I hope your family and you are doing well. 🤗 I just love this video! Basically I have all these items in my wardrobe!😅🫣 Except for low rise pants. My favorites are everything metallic, statement belts and bermuda shorts (the longer ones). 💞
Those MiuMiu photos are so cool. I'd have to use the pics as inspo and try to thrift something similar but the styling and gender-neutral vibe is on point! I like how the fabric seems to be a sort as brocade, as opposed to just shiny lamé, which looks costumey and cheap imo.
The capri/pedal pusher length trousers look best on tall women. For a petite like me, they are too visually shortening. Ankle-length is ok, but not my best, length.
I remember bermuda shorts were so popular when I was in college in the mid -80's. They weren't that flattering on me then, when I was much thinner, so I'll probably take a pass on this trend
I think capris are one of those items that never really go out of style. I've seen them year after year. I absolutely LOVE the look of a dress over pants. I have since the 90's when dresses and scarves around the waist over jeans were big. Metallics come in and out quite often, too. I HATE HIGH RISE, and the crazy part is that most of the women I know don't care for high rise, either. I don't get it.
Hi Leonie you look fabulous in that color 🩷 I personally don’t like cut-outs & i don’t wear trousers at all (except pajamas) for religious reasons. Metallic I like for bags or shoes not clothing . Red I don’t wear at all again for religious reasons- I wear burgundy, purple. Crop blazers are nice 👍🏼 I don’t do belts at all find them uncomfortable. No preppy vibe for me. Interesting content as you gather I don’t follow trends at all. I like to be comfortable with no fussy bits & pieces. Praying for Peace 🙏🇮🇱💔
Did Qvc come up with the first three 3️⃣ trends and the first 2 “ pants 👖 “ trends? Gah 😖! Love ❤️ everything else- Reds/ Metallics/ cropped blazers/ high rise pants 👖 - Amy
I’m a no way josè on the pants under dresses. I’ve actually been in ears distance of a group of guys talk about how dumb or try hard, it looks to them. Shorts of all lengths are a big YES for me. 😄 Also. I never throw my clothes out unless they’re too small and even then I will put them aside in case I lose the weight. I fluctuate in sizes way to easily for me to just Willy nilly junking things. Even belts.
Sometimes, I love pants under a dress. All depends on the styles and proportions. And I have never cared about what guys think about what I wear. Win win! 😊
I can't stand shorts I rather wear a shorter skirt with boots. I like the dress over pants. Metallics are a staple in my wardrobe, jackets, sneakers, crossbody and glitter tops I wear with gray joggers 😊
Capri pants are so unflattering unless u are tall and have slim legs as they cut the length of your legs in half. At 5ft 2 they are defiantly not for me.
I really like the 7/8 pant which just shows the ankle but I don't like capris. Capris that are below the knee or inches above the ankle are not flattering on most women. Bermuda shorts don't suit my body at all. Being pear shaped, I feel like bermuda shorts make me look hippy. My legs are toned from walking daily for years and I feel very comfortable wearing shorts in my 50's. However, I don't like how I look in bermudas. The most flattering length for me is mid thigh which would be a 6 or 7 inch inseam. I'll just say no to bermudas and continue wearing my mid length shorts. Yay, I am excited about baby blue as I get the most compliments whenever I wear blue.
I have always opted for midi length due to my heavy curves. Bermuda and Capri lengths are better fits for my figure than those short shorts. Slip styles are too lingerie for my gals and bum. So happy for rich red tones...
Dresses over jeans/pants is a very cutesy look, so suits young girls. It just doesn’t suit adult women in my opinion, especially women over 40! Trying too hard to look younger, makes you actually look older, unfortunately. That trend needs to stay where It came from, elementary school, as there are so much better and stylish, trendy looks out there to suit us older, but fashionably wiser gals!!
Had to have a laugh … for us older women and if like me you have scars from knee surgery and crepey legs pedal pushers or whatever you call them have never gone out of style in summer… not a good look for women over 65 in short shorts so below knee shorts or short pants, baggy or slim always in fashion!
Red and pink have always been in my color palette all year round. I love big sleeves, & highrise wide leg pants. I wear what I love. For me, personal style is better than keeping up with trends. However, when my favorites are trending I use it as an opportunity to refresh my wardrobe.

I'm loving the idea of semi retiring certain clothes - I'm going to do the same! x

I’m featuring one of my fave pleated skirts in my upcoming video - it’s an absolute fave! I love a good pleated skirt 🙏🏼

I have always worn Bermuda shorts. You can always style them any way, even in an elevated way. Love them!
This was very wise. People are way too fast getting rid of stuff.
Yes I've def been guilty of that in the past too :(
IMO this is one of the most informative videos that I've seen to date re decluttering your wardrobe, so thank you Leona.
I'm so glad!
I’m really tired of half tucked shirts. Either tuck or not
I love a good half tuck!
Thanks for the good videos. I am now 77 years old and still wearing pieces from my youth. I like belted jackets, but what do you do with the belt when you take the jacket off because you are too warm?
I’ve found this past year and looking forward, I like wearing skirts of all lengths. Denim, satin, wool, side, middle even back slit are all great to me. Also bc I’ve gained a good 15+ lbs they just look better on me then my typical jeans or pants.

I love a statement belt buckle... It's a way to elevate a slick monochrome or understated look...❤ Thanks for another great video, Leonie...😊
I totally agree about the belt buckles!
Yay! Thanks for posting this video. I've missed you! Love that color on you! This video couldn't have come at a better time as I have been going through my clothes to donate what I don't wear anymore. I will hang on to my cropped blazers, statement belts and unique cut out tops.
Yay! Thank you!
We're all about catering to fashion enthusiasts like yourself, curating pieces that are both stylish and versatile
I think, nobody should be such a fashion-slave and declutter things which you like and which fit you, just because anybody tells you, that they are not in anymore. Buy only things you really love and then you will wear them as many years as you like.
I agree but sometimes it’s easy to be overly swayed by the trends and you get rid of a goodie 😩
I agree
I know I was never going to get rid of my high waisted jeans and slacks no matter what. Having the waist at the waist is just normal. Low rise is the trend that comes and goes.
Yes this is what I do.
Such a beautiful color/ outfit on you!
Thank you so much
So I will start to wear short skirts over my bootcut jeans again.... 😁🎉 Great thing in winter. I'm freezing a lot.
Perfect!!!

I have a small waist and still wear belts from childhood and college and early career days! Belts are forever handy.
Love this color on you ❤
Thank you x
😂I love you and your style wrapped in humor❤
Thank you 😊
Loved this one, Leonie! Very pertinent and forward-looking information (as opposed to the retread that so many other channels supply). Thanksssss! ❤
So pleased you enjoyed it.
Dear Ms Leonie,
I am so grateful for this video of yours!

Have you ever looked in the men's section?
I remember early /mid 70's we wore dresses over jeans! I was maybe 10/11 end enjoyed that trend x

Really love that color on you, and with you hair, it just looks amazing with it.
Love this color on you Leonie! x
Thank you so much
I think the dresses over pants was last in style when I was in fourth grade. I don’t think I’ll be doing it!
thank you....always keeping facts like this on a list...lol....appreciate the classics!
Perfect!!!
I love the bermuda shorts, but hate the pedal pushers!

Thanks for sharing
Always useful info! 👍🏾
Glad you think so!
Bermudas are the best length for me. And I'll only wear pedal pushers when I'm working out 😂
I absolutely wear the shorts- mid thigh and lower🏃♀️
Hey! It would be interesting if you make video about how you stay in shape in terms of nutrition and exercise/activity, like What I eat in A Day or similar :)
I'm excited love capri pants how exciting thank you love your channel ❤
Yeah ❤high raise waste is back

Wonderful!
The color red part got cut off from the video jump into pastel colors😮
I do not like high rise 😂 we short waisted people usually tend to go for the mid rise ❤
That does make sense!
I loved them too!
I love love love this. It’s very helpful!!! I have a fashion TH-cam as well and definitely would love to remake this. ❤❤
Go for it!
Yes, spread the word. No reason for people to be wasteful with items or money.
Love your outfit, where is it from?
I love bermudas
Me too!
The capri/pedal pusher length trousers look best on tall women. For a petite like me, they are too visually shortening. Ankle-length is ok, but not my best, length.
agreed, I'm 5"2 and will not wear capris, but bermudas I love
Yes that makes sense Kimberly 👍🏼
Hanging on every word, then at 9:18 - the whole "Red" section is gone. Was that a glitch? Picks up again in the Pastels. Sigh
Did something go wrong at 9:20 when you were talking about the colour red?
Capri pants are just so unflattering 😂😂I have never liked or worn them!!
Any capris that fall mid calf are unflattering in my opinion - anything else can look fab. x
I remember bermuda shorts were so popular when I was in college in the mid -80's. They weren't that flattering on me then, when I was much thinner, so I'll probably take a pass on this trend
Fair enough too x
Oh dear the only item I own on this list is high rise straight leg pants!
That’s all good 😊
same here. I don't like most of these trends.
I think capris are one of those items that never really go out of style. I've seen them year after year. I absolutely LOVE the look of a dress over pants. I have since the 90's when dresses and scarves around the waist over jeans were big. Metallics come in and out quite often, too. I think it's down to your shape and height. I hate low rise and look ridiculous in them.
Praying for peace with you my friend 🙏🏼
Hi Leonie, I love what you're wearing, that color looks fantastic on you! Great video, as usual ❤
Thank you so much
Did Qvc come up with the first three 3️⃣ trends and the first 2 “ pants 👖 “ trends? Gah 😖! Love ❤️ everything else- Reds/ Metallics/ cropped blazers/ high rise pants 👖 - Amy
🙊😂
capri pants are call corsaire in french , which mean privateer
I’m a no way josè on the pants under dresses. I’ve actually been in ears distance of a group of guys talk about how dumb or try hard, it looks to them.
Shorts of all lengths are a big YES for me. 😄
Also. I never throw my clothes out unless they’re too small and even then I will put them aside in case I lose the weight. I fluctuate in sizes way to easily for me to just Willy nilly junking things. Even belts.
Who needs pants under dresses when you can rock those shorts with confidence, right?
Guys dont really know what they mean. I would never wear anything like that personally, seems too complicated, and I like simple.
Sometimes, I love pants under a dress. All depends on the styles and proportions.
And I have never cared about what guys think about what I wear. Win win! 😊
I’m 66 I still wear shorts, Bermuda, denim or tailored
Nice!
Ha ha I have some of these pants quite a few and I have held onto them good look on my body that is the rule dpes it look good on me😅
sangat anggun
I can't stand shorts I rather wear a shorter skirt with boots.
I like the dress over pants.
Metallics are a staple in my wardrobe, jackets, sneakers, crossbody and glitter tops I wear with gray joggers 😊
Thanks for sharing!
No shorts for me.
Shorts are for everyone, regardless of age
Capri pants are so unflattering unless u are tall and have slim legs as they cut the length of your legs in half. At 5ft 2 they are defiantly not for me.
I am 56 and I only wear skirts or dresses in the summer, no shorts.
Fair enuf 👍🏼
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Age 51 & I wear shorts all spring & summer. No coochie cutters but all other lengths 😅
I completely agree! Finding the right length for your body type is so important. It's all about feeling confident and comfortable in what you wear.
I wear shorts. Shorter and longer.
bermuda shorts never, nor capri pants...
Wait a moment! For years we have been told Capri pants were out, out, out and how unflattering and ugly they were!! This is frustrating for sure.
I think the reality is that capris that hit mid calf are always no no! x
I will not b wearing dresses over pants 😳
❤🎉❤
If you like something ware it whenever you want to. Stop worrying about what so e Random blogger tells you what to and not to ware.
Wear what you want. You only live once.
Stop trying to make low rise happen, our muffin tops aka fupas are not ready 😂
Haha, I hear you! Those muffin tops have a mind of their own!
same with crop tops uggh
😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰👌👍🙏🙏
❤️❤️❤️
I can't stomach bermuda shorts. I don't think I've ever seen someone look good in them(the runway is sth else)😒
Had to have a laugh … for us older women and if like me you have scars from knee surgery and crepey legs pedal pushers or whatever you call them have never gone out of style in summer… not a good look for women over 65 in short shorts so below knee shorts or short pants, baggy or slim always in fashion!
That makes perfect sense!
Bermuda shorts make woman look short and dumpy. Straight below knee peddle pushers may be better.
