i’ve watched so many videos on reclaim but this was by far one of the most entertaining and showing the whole process. i’m a new potter and so glad to find your channel!
Thanks for this... I've been working out of a studio for the past few years and have always just put my scrap clay in their processing area, essentially giving away a LOT of clay that I could reclaim. As of this Summer, I've been saving my clay waste and now have ~60lbs waiting to be reclaimed. This was a good reminder to start working on it, but I'm with you... not looking forward to the part where I have to do any of it! I know it will be fine once I get started, but so far my ability to procrastinate is stronger than my will to do it. ;) (I would also hire someone to do it for me!)
Haha I feel you girl! Omg it can be over whelming. But also SO satisfying when you make a new beautiful piece out of old reclaim. And YES you are right you are giving away a more clay than you even think. I wish you so much luck with it!
Agreed! However I was using the term in reference to being a craftsman pertaining to the definition “an activity invoking skill in making things by hand”
Please please be careful about chopping the clay like that inside while it’s dry!! That dust it makes is a serious problem. I have 3 5 gallon buckets and a 3 gallon bucket to do!! Making sure to use a mixer to really get everything mixed well and hydrated is essential in making reclaimed clay!! You can mix it at any point and then let it sit longer. The longer it sits the more plastic it will be as well. Placing an old bedsheet over the clay will help keep out unwanted guests!! Lol

Yay!! I’m so glad!
I really like what she says at about 1:36 about sunk cost fallacy. So right! So easy to fall into that thinking. Thanks for this video!
I need to remember more fallacies more often
Lmaoo that first mug went everywhere but into the bucket 😹😹😹😹
great vid Marlaina, keep it up!!
😂just didn’t wanna be reclaimed
Hey Marley you should make it a series of step by step process of making a clay pot
Destroying what isn’t your best so you can make it better and show respect to the clay. A philosophy to live by :))
Truly is so important! and also so not fun sometimes

Hell yeah, destruction is just as therapeutic as creation, in safe terms. Lol

Reclayming, I'd say.

Wish I thought of this
I don't see pottery as a craft. It's definitely art

I think you just showed us how to get the best arm and shoulder workout. Instead of going to the gym I just need to reclaim some clay.
Hahah exactly! I do be sweating while doing all the wedging
