And it's a fair fight, too. Plenty of dough backing each side. I ride a Scout set up as a full-dress bagger and I just giggle at the lean on these bad boys.
The fact that any road glide owner could turn their bike into something close to this is so badass. Factory based racing is fun to watch but incredible to think that some of the engineering that went into this bike is shared among the factory bikes its based on. I hope KOTB is around for a while, such a great concept!
I’ve had a “performance bagger” since 2011. Taller custom suspension, Lyndell brakes, BST wheels, Baker 7spd trans, built H-D 120r motor, adjustable handlebars made of billet aluminum, extended swingarm, etc. Not a full race bike like this but mine is 100 lbs lighter than stock. With most of the weight loss in the form of rotating mass so it feels even lighter at speed. Great to see people take these road toads and make them handle. T-Man Performance built 124R done in 2011. 135hp / 145tq to the wheels.
Kyle Wyman was the coolest guy at road America last year. Obviously he was extremely busy racing but he made time for anyone and everyone. I'm not a Harley guy but Kyle and king of the baggers series is starting to change my mind. The new ST model really going to make it hard for me not to buy my first HD.
Kyle is a top bloke having a chat with you guys. Great effort, thanks for this. Just bought a Street Glide ST. Having moved from very much the wrist crippling performance bikes with no real padded seat, after a back op. Oh my what an awesome bike. Never had a Harley Davidson, let alone a bagger and I’m in love with it! Sounds like I need to start modding it, what to do first…? Thank you for the content.
The great thing about racing is the technology and lessons learn translate over to production. From driving vehicles and riding motorcycles for many decades, you can tell the difference.
Kyle is such a amazing inspiration for Harley and the performance bagger aspect of riding. Hope Harley hired him as R&D and let's him inspire some new models.
Thank you. I took about 2 decades off from following any sort of bike racing and there isn't much info about what makes a bagger, super hooligan or why different displacement bikes are in supersport now.
Cool to see someone like Kyle who is passionate about what he is doing.. never thought I'd see 'Bagger-Racing' ...you just never know these days . Dave NZ
Right on! The King of the Baggers Race series is going to change Bagger motorcycles forever. This genre of motorcycle, “Baggers”, was ripe for improvement IMO. Younger riders don’t want “Granddad’s motorcycle”. Older veteran motorcyclists are moving to lighter bikes; they can’t muscle around an 850lb motorcycle like they could when they were 30yo. Lighter, faster, better handling, more durable Baggers helps the entire motorcycle industry. Racing improves the technology, durability and performance of street motorcycles. So it will be with Baggers. King of the Baggers Race series is the best thing to happen to Harley Davidson and Indian since they started up the rivalry again when Polaris bought Indian! Just the improvement in tire technology from Racing Baggers will be a game changer for heavy motorcycles. This is the tip of the iceberg with the technology showing up on race ready Baggers. The King of the Baggers Racing is GOOD too! The riders are dicing it up; riding to WIN! It’s very entertaining.
Racing bikes like motogp are taller for more reason one of them is more levrage taking a corner and I think you also get more room fore more lean angle and more traction because you can hang of more in a higher lean angle = all this gets you higher cornering speed. Am I right?
This is why people buy harleys, because there are so many aftermarket parts available. Indian will not match HD for aftermarket service for years, if Polaris keep making Indians that is.
@@jeffreybrannon60 yes Indian sell finished bikes Harleys are a kit, you need the rest of the bits to finish them. As for ride quality though I love my 2020 m8 softtail Street bob, it does handle better than the older harleys for sure. Maybe the Mo Co are afraid of getting sued.
I still don't see them on the website but lloydz said they were possibly making cams for the scout. They already have cams for the thunderstroke engines
I have a 19 with a with a 117 stage iv. Put a d&d fat cat exhaust with no cats or 02 sensors... and a power vision tune on it and and by doing that my dyno numbers came up from 116 hp 122 tq to 132 hp and 143 tq the exhaust and tune are very huge factors in your engine performance. The performance of the motor with the prostreet tuner is really dialed down and within epa standards. Witch equals less power and it most likely making it run hot
The fuel question sends me!!! " It smells GREAT " lmfao. I rode a carbed bike for years, something modern EFI and electric guys will NEVER understand is how important the fuel smell is to the ride. I know that sounds crazy, but too bad. Combustion sound & smell on a bike might be 90% of the experience.
Badass bike. Would love to see harley or Indian make some muscle cruisers out of those platforms. Maybe not as tall or extreme of ergos, but defiantly taller, better lean angle, and no fairing please.
@@toofastnobrakes I don't have much trouble flicking mine around but it definitely does sit low. Could always just toss some taller springs on it and have at it though
Great video. I would rather convert a Super Duke to a performance bagger. You start out with huge lean angles with 180 horsepower and 104 ft pounds torque from factory. Less torque needed on 500 pound bike. Super Duke, I believe, has the largest diameter pistons(4.25 inches) of any mass produced motorcycle. Even with the inertia mass of those pistons able to rev 10,000 rpm. The bike comes with a warranty!
A Suzuki boulevard m109R has the biggest pistons at 4.4 inches across making it bigger than any piston used in any production car or motorcycle in the world
MilliondollarBogan has over 20 grand in his road glide. Got Wilbers suspension, 131 motor , the whole deal....looks bad ass and it's a 2018 so it's the gunship gray cvo
Good point. Harley could make a truck load of $'s by taking much of these pieces, dialling it back a few notches and selling them as a built item found in their catalog. Missing opportunities... I think most road riders would love to see something like this made easily available.
After you asked him why chain vs belt he went directly to talking about how great Harley is for like a minute but walked around and avoided the question and then went straight to cooling solutions for the motor. 😂 not sure why though, because it’s a simple answer
Very cool video. Surprised it isn't turbocharged btw. Seems like a natural thing for a race bike. I'm assuming it's just in the rules. I love this new bagger culture coming about, and I love Harley for really committing to it. I don't feel like they've really done anything like that in forever to appeal to younger folks.

Oh look! Harley does know how to make a proper swing arm. I'd like to know who came up with those cam adjusters - what a great idea 🤬 All baggers on the road have a misaligned rear wheel thanks to that marvelous piece of engineering 👏
@@CactusJack252 exactly. Dynas don't have alignment marks either but we have found the coat hanger test is pretty darn close.
