There is an application named OLED saver we can fix the colours to a certain amount by this application.for the new buyers better to think twice before buying a new samsung.
I'm having the same problem with my s9+. My screen is green and I can barely see anything to use it. When I turn it off, the screen stays completely black. I can hear and feel it vibrate and the Blue light will come on at the top but the start up menu doesn't show, when it reboots I can't see the little Android, I can't see anything. Not even the screen to reset / reboot / clear the cache and after about a minute, the Green screen comes back on. I'm beyond frustrated! Especially since it is literarily at the 2yr mark with Verizon and this contract is up. It's almost as though it was designed to do that. Ï also seems that this issue is very common. Maybe this should be brought to Samsung's attention. If anyone has any solution besides getting a new phone, please share.
Same. My telco contract is 4 mths left and my note 9 give me this problem and I couldnt stop thinking : why now. All was good, love the battery life, the big screen, the s pen and all the special features, but this problem is really a turn-off. So dissappointed now that I dont know what phone should I get next. And I am using my old note 4, the problem is the battery drain like running water.
If the issue is because of March security update,You can get the display of note9 fixed Free of cost from Samsung service centres. All service centres (India) have received the communication regarding the issue on July 1st. I got the display changed this week .Hope it helps.
I'm pretty sure it is a thermal problem. Turn it off and leave it off for a couple of hours. It will turn on normally. Also, I put it in my refrigerator for an hour while it was on, and it was functioning normally when I took it out. Perhaps a heat sink has come loose, or a part is going into thermal runaway.
Not for me because it still didn't work the next day. However, as you suggested, the OLED might have been damaged by the heat as I was playing a game at that time when it occured. And since this seems to affect the Exynos variant more as can be seen in the comments here, we can assume that the Mali cores produce more heat than their Snapdragon Adreno counterparts.

After your display wark like normal 3. Then swipe down your control panel and going to the display Brightness settings 4. And turn off the Adaptive Brightness option 5. And you can control display brightness, set it high ( you want use in outside )or set it lower( in inside)
Same here. Began on a 2 years old device. Can't tell if it's HW or SW problem. I would say it's more SW than HW : - phone in sleep - press power to wake --> green screen - press power to sleep - tap the bottom of he screen 2, 3 or 4 times - the phone wakes up - screen is normal So far, 100 % success doing this. Samsung, do something FREE, or lose clients by 1 000 000
@@ShermanChin So far, when the problem occurs, it's not always worse than the previous occurrence. Sometime, it's almost uniform, nearly the same green everywhere. And sometimes, you can read few parts of the screen; it's difficult, it's not usable for sure, but it's "less green". What's puzzling me the most is that by simply taping the screen bottom instead of pressing the power button, it goes back to normal at once.
@@ShermanChin yes .. I try it tomorrow...sir and i report the result. Then i replace for the screen . I think i just buy new phone. Vivo or oppo. My note9 just have same problem and indonesian. I try it tommorow. So you buy new phone sir?
my note 9 , i never drop, when i use it in the car, suddenly become like this, screen green, blurry wordings, use for exactly 2 years, is it worth repair, it cost about 220 usd for the screen replacement, any recomendations?
Is yours the Snapdragon or Exynos version of the Note 9? If it is Exynos, I would suggest buying a second hand version of the Snapdragon Note 9 because it is faster and you can probably get it for around 300 usd now.
The Malaysian version is the slower and less power efficient Samsung Exynos version. I also have not heard of any Qualcomm Snapdragon Note 9 version having this green screen problem in the comments so far. I would suggest you look at second hand or even new Snapdragon Note 9 models in the Shopee app. You would be surprised at how cheap they are now with the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 Lite.

Same green screen problem as my s9. I have thoughts it could be of water damage after accidentally drop it on a sink. I've tried putting it on a rice and lets see what the result is.
Yeah, I had to change the screen. It is a hardware problem but you can use it awhile longer if you turn on the Always On Display according to others here if you read the comments. Sorry to hear about your phone 😢
They did replace my screen but not Samsung. It is the shop where I bought it from because I bought an extra year warranty from them. Samsung is crap. My friend had the same problem and Samsung wanted to charge him such a high price that he just bought a new phone.
mine happened just now, what I do is to change brightness to almost minimum level and the color are back and screen responsive again. Raise the brightness a bit more and it turns green again. UNCHECK adaptive brightness, I think that is the one causing the screen unresponsive since it turns green when brightness is raised. Last, how to access brightness when screen is unresponsive, use double click power button to access camera (YES CAMERA WORKS!!!) altough a bit green ofcourse, the access the slide menu above from camera and reduce brightness. hope this helps...
On 2nd note, this already explained here tho th-cam.com/video/m0-npdV-U2c/w-d-xo.html Some commenter suggest installing OLED Saver and my screen can be bright again without turning green. So this is clearly software issue with the latest update Samsung really done it now...
no, it is real green and unresponsive, except for turning off and restarting. really like broken screen, 1:34 is really similar. though your video is 2019, should not happened yet the faulty update so yea might be different. but for people facing this nowadays, likely because of samsung's faulty update hope this helps everyone especially on this lockdown
Thanks for the solution! I hope it helps some people. Please do keep us updated on whether it is a permanent fix. My green screen wasn't caused by the update and even a factory reset didn't fix it. The screen replacement did the trick and they didn't touch the software at all.

@@shubhashinimanikkandhan8047 unfortunately, the Google Pixel 4 has the worst reviews mainly because of the lousy battery life and bugs. Perhaps the Google Pixel 4a?

Not sure if the software caused green screen can be fixed with a screen replacement since mine is a hardware issue. But then the service center will have a warranty so nothing to worry about if you have the cash.
I think it is a hardware issue caused by the march software update, probably because of the update that caused the software to do something to the screen and it permanently broke the screen, u can only fix it by contacting Samsung service center to get the screen change since it was hardware issue, but since the issue wasn't the users' fault, Samsung should take the responsibility to fix our screen without charging us since so many people having the same problem, just like what they did for the note 7 exploding problems, but I think samsung is ignoring the claims right now to avoid the cost of fixing all the problem's screen. I have a s9+ having the exact problem since March patch.
we cannot say that before we can prove it. use 2 cellphones of the same series, one LCD is normal, the other is green screen. change the lcd with a green screen to a normal machine, does it stay green or does the color become normal? from there we will know, the problem is in software or hardware after we update. if their technician don't know this method to test, maybe i'm the one who smarter than them to find cause of this issue .

Yet another Exynos problem although the Snapdragon Note 9 has a screen discoloration issue reported in international news today too due to the recent update.
Turn your always on display on. Put it to where you tap the screen to see the clock. When you do, unlock the phone. Problem solved until the issue is fixed.
I had purchased Note 9 on March 2019 and in June 2019 I dropped my phone in a carpet floor and it had a small crack on the screen and I complaint it to Samsung service station but they told I can't claim the warranty so I used as it is till 30th April 2020 without any issues in the display but on 2nd April onwards my screen turns greenish on complaining about this the Samsung service team advise me to replace the display which costs Rs 20000approx .can the Samsung team look into this matter and do something because I had purchased the phone for Rs 70000/-my question to company is whether the display quality will withstand only for one year? If it is so then we are making a costly mistake by purchasing Samsung Note 9
Yes, unfortunately the Note 9 Exynos variant seems to have display issues after a year. I would only buy the Snapdragon variant if I buy Samsung again.

@@josephinep5538 you mean after replacing the screen? Yup, works fine but the milestone is 1 year+ lol I am not using it as much now to prevent that from happening so soon hahaha
Sorry to say this, but green screen issue is a hardware fault not something an update can fix. One of the updates from Samsung is causing the CPU to over heat and in return permanently damaging the oled screen. Not only that but also compromising the battery as well. The only fix is the replacement of both the oled screen and battery. This repair is entirely the fault of Samsung due to a faulty update that over works the CPU capacity. Therefore my advice is for you to return your device back to Samsung and lodge an assessment request. They charge a small fee for the assessment, but the entire repair should be compensated by Samsung. Be firm and keep the pressure via emailing them to insist on Samsung covering the repair costs. My Note 9 is almost 3 years old when green screen issue happened. They fixed the entire thing free of charge. But I kept firm and didn't let them bully me into charging me for the repairs, which was their fault in the first place. I must admit, my phone despite its age, is in perfect condition. Not a scratch on it. Which I know contributed winning my argument for the repairs. So if you have psychical damage, I doubt you will have a chance. Good luck to all who will give this successful method a go.
Please do return it as soon as possible. The green screen is a hardware problem and the screen should be changed while under warranty or it will keep coming back. Good luck!

You can look through the comments. The Exynos problem is usually a hardware issue but even for the software issue, there has not been a fix till now.

Same here. Began on a 2 years old device. Can't tell if it's HW or SW problem.
I would say it's more SW than HW :
- phone in sleep
- press power to wake --> green screen
- press power to sleep
- tap the bottom of he screen 2, 3 or 4 times
- the phone wakes up
- screen is normal
So far, 100 % success doing this.
Samsung, do something FREE, or lose clients by 1 000 000
If you see the problem getting worse after awhile, it is a hardware problem indicating that the screen is dying.

Thanks for your explanation and possible strategy to approach Samsung!

@@ShermanChin also your screen issue is different than mine ,mine is less green and also phone works fine and. Some time works fine but never did in my work around. But still not fixed by new update I'll call warranty I did find out apparently it's the march update causing it
Oh! You got the March Update issue? That is an entirely different problem. However, since it is still under Warranty, better to change it anyway and not update.
@@ShermanChin I guess but got to wait a bit anyway if I wanted to do to not activated warranty atm.
I have similar problem with my note 9 too....what is the problem actually
They fixed mine by replacing the AMOLED screen. I read that it might be a problem with the GPU bus to the screen causing the problem, hence it occurs more if you play graphical intense games with your Samsung device. Can't confirm though but by reading the comments here, it certainly sounds like it.
@@ShermanChin how much did it cost?
@@shubhashinimanikkandhan8047 thank goodness it was still covered under my 2-year extended warranty by the shop I bought it from so it was free! Otherwise you would have seen me trying to replace the screen myself considering that it would probably cost almost half the price of the phone itself.
@@ShermanChin oh dear to change the display for note 9 is almost the cost of buying a mid range smart phone. My warranty just over when its happen. 😔
@@kckfenyou can try purchasing the screen on ebay and then just paying a local mobile phone repair shop to fix it for you. Alternatively, just buy a new Note 10 lite now unless you don't trust Samsung's quality anymore. I might just give them one last chance with the S20.
Have the same issue too
Really annoying, never dropped the phone.
Exynos variant?
@@ShermanChin yea
I am sorry to hear that. Seems like a very common problem with the Exynos variant. 😢
@@ShermanChin I'm 100% sure this is a software issue
Because I use oled saver and always on display for temporary fix but when ever I make or receive a call, then the green screen comes on again. So I'll have to lock and unlock the phone again.
Really didn't expect this from samsung.
You can look through the comments. The Exynos problem is usually a hardware issue but even for the software issue, there has not been a fix till now. I would suggest just getting a new phone if it is no longer under warranty. It will just degrade further as time goes by unfortunately. Choose a Snapdragon or other brand next. I am personally using a cheap Nokia (typing on it now) as an temporary phone: th-cam.com/video/nk9dIxmCojk/w-d-xo.html
This is happening to me right now how did it happen for you
Please read pinned comment
Just happened out of the blue for me. No specific reason so I suspect it is not the same green tint problem as those who got it after the recent Samsung update.
Little boy is crying because something broke? You wanna run to your mammie?
We should always hold large corporations accountable for their products. Just look at the number of complaints here. If we don't complain, do you think they will improve on their products? I will still buy Samsung if they improve.
I did quite a research and I found out the truth ... The truth is after the July update in my s9 plus the phone started heating alot and those who were using the phone intensively ex: playing pubg etc ...due to overheating the proximity/light senor which is located on top right of the screen got faulty/damaged and hence this flickering is happening....just cover the proximity sensor and then unlock your phone the screen will be normal 100% it happened with me too...I accidentally removed the phone from my pocket and the screen was normal again ...Thank me if you can resolve it and sue samsung for the filthy update.
Oh! The green screen is due to the proximity sensor? Hmm...interesting. You are the first person with this theory here. Can others please verify?
Forget samsung.. im very disappointed with Samsung. Is that they called Flagship???
Yeah, so sad. The quality used to be so good!
Yes.. i still use note 3 and still perfectly. It start from note 8 Samsung was suck at LCD 👎👎👎
@@yohanbudi3491 Yes, my Note 1 and Note Edge (Note 4 except with one curved edge) were awesome! Then this crap happens to my Note 9 😢
my note 9 screnn turn green.can claim waranty ?
Depends on your warranty period. Mine had a 2 year warranty covered by the shop (not by Samsung) so they fixed it for free for me with their own repairmen.
Your lucky,my note 9 happen after 1month waranty end.
My suggestion is to get the second hand Note 9 Snapdragon version for roughly 300 usd.
Use always on display and the green screen problem is fixed
Temporary fix only though
@@ShermanChin no make your always on display on the whole time and youll not have the problem anymore ONLY if you have always on display on
@@araring that is not what the other commentator said earlier though. She said it is a temporary fix only. Let's see what more people say. Thank you so much for your feedback!
Same problem with my s8😡
SAME PROB BRUH , Quitting all galaxy products it’s sad that we shell a fortune for such so-called flagship products nd Samsung doesn’t have durable hardware that can run even for a few years .PITY SHAME ON SAMSUNG
You should try to get the Snapdragon version and see how it goes :)
My Samsung Note 9 Green screen issue, after 3 day burn screen, than now Touch screen not working. Fuck!
Sorry to hear that. 😢 Yeah, once you get the green screen problem, you will need to change your screen already.
My phone no any problem .but showing green colour on my screen
Screen problem ☹️
@@ShermanChin yeah showing green colour past few days 😭
@@ShermanChin i also doesnt know what should i do.for slove this problem.need help
Try the Always On Display temporary solution in the pinned comment. But you have to replace the screen soon. 😢
@@ShermanChin yeah on the display.will go shop
My Note 9 kill because this problem after 4 years.😭😭😭
4 years is still quite a long lifespan for a phone these days though 😅
My flickers goes crazy when i lower the brightness
That is interesting because another comment here said that lowering the brightness is a solution
Mine is doing it when it does finally come on the brightness full is best
@@DazTv2k I guess they are different issues so people should try what works best for their issue.
Sherman Chin mine just switched OG again it’s pissing me off I refuse to pay £200 for a new screen as it was on for 8 hours earlier then switched off again and flickering if any one finds a legit way to sort this issue hollar at me 👊🏽
@@DazTv2k unfortunately if it is a hardware issue, you will just be delaying the inevitable. I would just buy a new phone if I were you and had to pay so much to get the screen replaced.
tried finding a fix and no luck. Best solution, avoid Samsung on next upgrade
Did you try the OLED Saver App? Anyway, I had to get my screen replaced so yeah, avoid the Exynos variant of Samsung phones for now unless their collab with AMD changes things.
dealing with something like that is very easy for me, only 5 minutes finished
How?
This kind of comment is only to flaunt , nothing more. In short no value.
I'm screen just keeps flashing
No choice but to get it replaced because you can't even see what is on screen to do anything 😅
saya baru saja switch ios to android try note 9 dulu then macam ni lah jadinya wtf! screen blurr kekuningan always on display tidak function di phone saya
Note 9 Exynos memang begitu klu lebih dari 1 tahun. 😢 Tak berbaloi beli 2nd hand jika bukan versi Snapdragon. Guna Nokia murah lebih berbaloi: th-cam.com/video/nk9dIxmCojk/w-d-xo.html
Use an app called oled saver
According to some here, just turning on the Always On Display will be enough to save the screen for sometime.
It’s happen to me
What happens to you? 😅
@@ShermanChin s20 just suddenly stripped appears on screen happen as well with s23
Unfortunately, Samsung is now famous for this green screen problem or my video would not have gotten so many views. It is also the reason I have not bought another Samsung since my Note 9. 😅
Sure bro hardware problem
One year only finish
Yeah, always after the warranty period
Same here with 10se it flickers green screen and i've had for 1 year
Yeah, seems to occur after about 1 year 😢
hi, i can fix it a little bit, decrease the brightness contrast, but it will return to when the brightness was increased. hopefully it helps a little hehehe
Thanks for the tip! Did you try turning on the Always On Display as suggested by the others here?
I have the exact same problem. Only had my phone 1 year and 2 months. Very disappointed
Exynos variant as well?
Same here. I too had the phone for about 1 year and 2 months and I tried everything but could fix it
I am sorry to hear. It is a hardware problem so the only way to permanently fix it is to change the screen. Yeah, disappointing of Samsung Exynos 😢
Spanis plisss
I wish I knew Spanish 😅
oh my god !
same problem with me tonight
same to same problem 😭😭😭
Sorry to hear that 😢 please try some of the solutions of the other commentators here
I have the same phone but only I I cracked my phone and it glitches to the light green screen
Oh! That is definitely a hardware problem. It will definitely get worse over time unfortunately. Please do get a new phone before it is completely fried 😅
Same prob with my note 9..it is only 1year A month..
Wow! Looks like it is a Exynos issue since most people having this problem are from Asia. We really should get some news site to write about this.
