Gravel Adventures: Graham at Mt. Laguna (San Diego)

  • The Mt. Laguna area is one I had my eye on for some time but never managed to make the trip out. So when I linked up with local San Diego rider Graham, that was the obvious place to head. It turned in to quite the gravel adventure. It's really rocky terrain and if it wasn't for the road climb up we'd have been better off on mountain bikes. But the good thing about gravel bikes is they can handle just about anything in their way, so long as the rider is also ready. You can catch the hour long ride on Patreon.

    Am photographer from south India. I use to go with my friends around villages and places like this to capture something the place which is unexplored by others. These videos of yours makes me remind those past memories. No matter where you live some places looks same even though its other part of earth. Thank you so much for this wonderful video. If ever possible visit India. You definitely like it for sure. Take care man :)

      Not really. It's his first time in the Mt. Laguna area so he's obviously not going to go super hard.

    It's scary and grin inducing at the same time when you get into a section in the drops and it then becomes too dodgy to switch your hands back to the hoods :)

    A drop-bar 29er hardtail would be great on that trail. Great video as usual SAFA

      A lot of it's tire choice - looks like he's running something skinnier like 38-40c. I run 45c riddler tires for really rocky trails up in norcal. Adds a lot of compliance. Also have a diverge now, which is getting you pretty far in the hardtail mtb direction, but even on my older rigid frame 45c tires take loads of the sting out :).

    how wide a tire can you fit in the front of that Topstone?

    • @skynyrdrocksss
      @skynyrdrocksss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Largest I've put on is a 42. I had plenty of room to go wider, so at some point I'll need to test that out. The rear, is unfortunately slim, a 42 gravelking works, but just barely.

    • @sergiopena1417
      @sergiopena1417 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve also fitted Specialized Pathfinder Pro 42s on the Topstone and the rear wheel runs pretty close to the frame. No issues so far.
